Welcome Oaks to CCPAL Rescue foster program. Oaks is a 1.5 year old German Short haired pointer and German Shepherd. He is about 48 pounds and a good weight. He is good in a car, potty trained, doggy door trained and lives with six children starting at age 2. He also lives with 6 other dogs and does fine. He would be great with a family and children would be fine. We like them to be 8 or older. He is smart, laid back, good with other dogs and bonds deeply to his family. He is a little timid with strangers but comfortable with his people. His foster family is going to start taking him places so he can get used to changes in environment and other people. He is smart but he doesn’t like to retrieve like his sister does. He is a nice dog and naturally a little protective to his family. He would be great with a family that the dad travels and he wants to feel that his family is safe and taken care of. He is a moderate shedding dog and with his long legs would be a great walking or jogging companion. He is neutered, healthy and getting his vaccinations and ready for his forever home. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is $300 and transport is $200. Meet Aussie, a 7-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer with a zest for life! At 7 years old, Aussie may be considered a bit older, but he’s proof that age is just a number. He’s full of energy and enthusiasm and thrives on being close to his people. Whether he’s tagging along as you move around the house or relaxing nearby, Aussie loves to be part of the action. Aussie is also proving that old dogs can learn new tricks! He’s eager and ready for training, and we’ve been working on basics like “sit” and taking treats gently. His intelligence and enthusiasm make him a quick learner, so training will be a breeze. Aussie does well in his kennel. He rides well in the car and enjoys going for walks, though he’s still working on leash manners to prevent pulling. Currently, Aussie lives with another dog, though they mostly ignore each other. He’d do well in a home with or without another canine companion. Aussie adores people, and his friendly nature suggests he’d be great with kids. However, until he learns to contain his excitement, his wiggly enthusiasm might unintentionally knock over smaller children. Aussie is house-trained but currently wears a belly band indoors to prevent marking. His desire to mark has been virtually eliminated after his recent neuter. All in all, Aussie is a wonderful, affectionate pup who’s ready to learn and adapt to your home. With a little training and patience, he’ll make a fantastic companion! He’s almost potty trained, which means you’re only occasionally surprised, never shocked. His tail? He wags with delight! Junior thinks fetch is a full-time job and he is employee of the month. Balls, toys, frisbees, rogue socks — if it can be chased, he’s on it. He’s also a tug-of-war prodigy, specializing in ropes, blankets, and anything he can drag while giving you that signature sideways glance like he’s plotting something adorable and mildly chaotic. Quincy is a 16-month-old Aussie Pointer mix, smart, playful, and full of personality. He came to us after biting his former owner, an older woman who couldn’t meet his training needs. Since then, he’s made huge progress: he learns quickly, loves praise, and is gaining confidence with things that once scared him. Indoors, he’s calm and impressively respectful. He doesn’t counter surf, even when human food is left out without supervision. He waits patiently for meals, sleeps soundly through the night, and now tolerates things like ear drops without fuss. He’s truly blossoming into a well-mannered, better-socialized dog. Quincy enjoys children in calm, supervised settings, but due to his bite history should be placed in a home with teenagers or adults only. His main challenge is guarding small chews or items he thinks he shouldn’t have. Quincy shines when he knows what’s expected.
