Story
If happiness had four legs and a constantly wagging tail, it would be Milo! This 5-month-old German Shorthaired Pointer is a joyful, energetic, affectionate puppy who believes everyone he meets is a best friend waiting to happen. At around 25 pounds, Milo is still growing and is expected to be a medium-sized dog. He has a big personality, a bright mind, and enough energy to keep life exciting!Milo is a social butterfly who loves people of all ages, including kids! He enjoys running and playing with children and is happy to soak up all the attention they give him. He also gets along wonderfully with other dogs and loves wrestling with his canine foster sibling. Milo has also done well with cats. He is curious about them but respectful, happily interacting with his playful feline friend while giving his less interested cat roommate plenty of space. This smart boy is already learning his name, sit, and come, and he is eager to please, even if he is still working on perfecting his skills. He loves puppy puzzles, running, playing, and, of course, snuggling! Milo is an enthusiastic cuddler who may wrap his paws around your neck for a hug. Rub his ears, and you might be treated to the funniest, loudest little moans of appreciation. His affectionate, sometimes clingy nature means he wants to be part of whatever you're doing.Milo is a true German Shorthaired Pointer, which means he needs an active home ready to keep both his body and mind busy. A daily walk won't cut it for this energetic guy! He would love opportunities to run, play, explore, and tackle enrichment activities. Without enough to do, Milo is more than happy to invent his own entertainment, and his ideas may not always align with yours. Continued training, consistency, and plenty of exercise will help him grow into the wonderful adult dog he is meant to be.Milo is still working on house-training and occasionally has accidents, but he is making progress. He can sleep in his crate overnight for about eight hours, although he isn't a fan of being kenneled and may bark or whine when first put inside. He also struggles with being alone and may vocalize when separated from his people, even if he can hear them nearby. An apartment or home with shared walls would not be a good fit. Milo would do best with adopters who are home often and can help him gradually build confidence with alone time. One important thing to know about Milo is that he is a flight risk. Having been found as a stray, he is still very eager to dash through open doors, and he has managed to escape from his foster home twice. He is incredibly quick! A securely fenced yard is required, along with careful door management and a commitment to keeping him safely contained. Although his intelligence may make future off-leash training a possibility, he is not ready for that freedom now.Milo is looking for an active, involved family who wants a fun-loving companion to include in life's adventures. He has so much love to give, a wonderful personality, and a clever little mind that is always working. If you're ready for puppy antics, outdoor adventures, enthusiastic cuddles, and a best friend whose tail never stops wagging, Milo might just be your perfect match! If you are interested in Milo, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $550.
