Story
Meet Petra, a super sweet and spunky 3 month old female German Wirehaired Pointer mix puppy! Petra is one of the pups from the Oktoberfest litter, born to mama Gretchen (37 lb German Wirehaired Pointer mix - found as a stray in east TN when she was heavily pregnant) on 10/29/2025. We are unsure what Dad is, but based on the pups' current age and size, we think these scruffy pups will grow to around 40-60 lbs.  From Petra, Freya, and Heidi's current foster:  "These three amazing puppies are the perfect mix of loving cuddle bugs and confident little explorers. They absolutely love cuddling up in your lap for snuggles, but they’re also wonderfully independent and happy to entertain themselves with a ball or a squeaky toy when playtime calls.  They are playful, kind-hearted, and gentle souls who get along amazingly with other dogs, cats, and kids. These beautiful pups are true social butterflies with great manners for their age. Whether it’s playing by themselves or together or settling in for a nap, they adjust beautifully. All three are crate trained and are doing great with potty training. They currently use pee pads indoors, eat wonderfully, and are taken outside right after meals, where they already know how to do their business outdoors, such smart girls! If you’re looking for a puppy who is affectionate, fun, well socialized, and off to a fantastic start with training, these girls will steal your heart in no time. Petra: Confident and playful, Petra loves her toys and has a curious, adventurous spirit that makes every day brighter. Freya: The perfect balance of calm and silly, Freya enjoys independent play and then settling in for the coziest snuggles. Heidi: A total lap lover with a gentle heart, Heidi is happiest when she’s cuddled up close but always ready to join the fun." Petra is medically up to date (age appropriate) and is so excited to embark on her next adventure - finding her furever family! Apply to meet this sweetie today!  Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##2594681##
