Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $800 Bananagram is an 8 month old, 44 lb Goldendoodle with a stunning red, non-shedding coat and a heart that is just as soft as her curls. She came to our rescue as an owner surrender through no fault of her own, and from the moment she arrived it was clear that she is simply a joy to be around. Sweet, affectionate, and eager to make friends, Bananagram approaches life with the kind of warmth that makes people fall for her instantly.   Her days start bright and early around 7 a.m. with her first walk of the day. After stretching her legs and taking in the morning sights, she enjoys breakfast around 7:45. During the day, Bananagram is happy to lounge nearby while her foster mom goes about her routine. Sometimes she curls up on her dog bed, other times she claims a cozy spot on the couch, but wherever she is, she likes to keep an eye on her people. At night, she happily snuggles up to sleep with her foster mom— Bananagram is very much a “close to my humans” kind of girl.   Personality-wise, Bananagram is the definition of sweet and cuddly. She loves physical touch, thrives on affection, and has a special talent for giving hugs that will melt your heart. She’s the type of dog who happily follows her humans from room to room, just to be part of whatever is happening. She also enjoys giving kisses and curling up next to you on the couch for some quality snuggle time. Despite her size, she has a very gentle presence in the home— and impressively, she rarely barks.   Like many young doodles, Bananagram has plenty of puppy energy. She gets the zoomies a couple of times a day and benefits from multiple walks— three per day has been her sweet spot so far. She loves being outdoors and recently joined her foster on a trail walk, which she absolutely adored. Exploring nature, sniffing new smells, and stretching her long legs are some of her favorite activities. By evening, though, the zoomies give way to a more relaxed side, and she’s perfectly content to wind down and lounge with her people.   On leash, Bananagram is improving quickly. When she first arrived she pulled more, but she’s already making great progress and is learning how to walk more politely. Because the world still feels new and exciting to her, she often likes to pause and take everything in— watching people, observing her surroundings, and sometimes stopping to greet passersby. She’s a very friendly dog and enjoys saying hello.   Bananagram has shown that she does well with other dogs. She recently spent time with another Goldendoodle named Penny and seemed very comfortable, even following Penny’s lead in new situations. She was friendly, respectful, and showed no signs of aggression. We think she would do nicely in a home with another dog, though she would also be happy as the center of attention.   As a young dog who is still learning the ropes, Bananagram will need a family that is ready to continue her training. She did not have any training prior to her arrival in the rescue, so she's a blank slate, but eager to please!   What truly makes Bananagram special, though, are her hugs. She has a way of leaning into you and wrapping you up in affection that feels like a genuine embrace. It’s the kind of sweet, loving gesture that perfectly captures who she is: a dog who just wants to love and be loved.   If you’re looking for a beautiful young doodle with a playful spirit, a cuddly heart, and a lot of love to give, Bananagram might be the perfect addition to your family.March 12, 2026, 5:58 pm

Story
Sammy is an amazing and resilient 3-year-old Golden Retriever. He is a very loving Golden to those who know and love him. Sammy is currently enrolled in an extended board-and-train program designed to help de-escalate reactivity with dogs, address home barriers, and manage interactions with strangers. He has really done well after 6 months, building confidence and reducing his reactivity to men and dogs. Sammy now has a pack of five doggie friends he plays with regularly. We have weaned him off the Reconcile, and his Golden personality is really beginning to shine through. Sammy's extensive training is really showing what Sammy's potential can be when loved and cared for daily. He will need an experienced owner who can provide consistent reinforcement and meet his needs. If you are interested, we can coordinate a call with his trainer to learn more. Sammy is being fostered in San Jose.

Story
Boomer is the whole package — handsome, affectionate, friendly, and incredibly sweet. This charming boy is going to need a forever home soon… before he becomes a “foster fail,” as foster mom is already loving him way too much! It’s hard to believe Boomer spent almost a month in the shelter — he is truly a joy to live with. He’s wonderfully affectionate without being clingy or pesty. He gets along beautifully with the two resident dogs, happily playing with the younger dog while being gentle and respectful of the senior pup. Boomer loves a good treat and always takes it gently. He’s not much of a barker — he’ll usually only speak up to let you know the gardeners or pool person have arrived. He has not needed to be crated, as he’s been a perfect gentleman at night and when left home with the other dogs. He uses the dog door like a pro. On walks, Boomer is a delight. He walks nicely on leash and thoroughly enjoys getting out and about, where he’s made plenty of canine and human friends. Boomer is ready to bring love, companionship, and joy to his forever family. If you’re interested in adding Boomer to your home, please complete an application at 1luckydogrescue.org or contact his foster mom, Nancy, at nancymoore016@gmail.com. If reaching out by email, please tell us a little about the home you would provide for Boomer.

Story
Bongo is a rescue from the streets of Mexico City who came with us when we relocated for work. When he was first found, he was in poor condition, very fearful, and carried a lot of trauma. Over time, he has gained confidence, and it now seems like those traumas are behind him. Bongo is a cuddly dog who loves being at home, laying down, and getting pets. He is protective and will bark if something seems suspicious. His energy level is low-to-medium (he used to be very active), and although he has slowed down with age, he still enjoys his daily walks and absolutely loves running off-leash and playing fetch. He is good with kids and prefers to be the only dog in the home. While he has lived with other dogs before, it takes him time to adjust. He can be reactive around large dogs but has no history of aggression. Bongo is the perfect companion for a relaxing day at home, a long walk, or even a hike. He is fully potty trained and eats on his own schedule

Story
As good looks go, it’s hard to improve on the lavish glamour of a Golden Retriever. But it can be done! Add some Chow Chow to the mix and you get McCallister, a butterscotch fluff nugget with floppy ears and a curl in his tail. Both classy and cute, he’s a huggable lion impersonator with a very big smile. He’s a champion networker, super friendly with dogs and people, and a strong believer in treats for every occasion. He’s up for daily jaunts and we think he’ll learn to climb stairs with the proper motivation (i.e. aforementioned treats). Looking for a happy-go-lucky guy in a gorgeous fur coat? He awaits your visit. Here are some notes from his foster: - He relishes his time outside! He happily hung out in our (small) backyard for hours at a time and seems to enjoy walks. We never heard him use his voice, but he would occasionally scratch the door to go outside, not because he had to go to the bathroom, just to hang outside. - He has a good appetite but isn’t very food motivated. He’ll eat every morsel of breakfast or dinner, but doesn’t beg for food and is only moderately interested in treats (very pro peanut butter though). - He’s an excellent couch snuggle buddy, though he has been timid about getting on and off the couch and might benefit from a ramp. I think he’s quite capable of getting up and down on his own, but might not be used to doing so. - He gets excited to see and meet other dogs. We’ve found him to be pretty calm when engaging with other pups, but only had a small sample size. He might benefit from some additional leash training just because he is so eager to hang out with other pups. - He’s potty trained, reliably goes to the bathroom while on walks, and is great at self-regulating. - McCallister does pretty well in the car too! He gets curious about what’s going on outside and with the driver/passenger, but doesn’t seem at all phased by being in the car. - Not a big fan of wood floors, but he was adjusting to ours over time. In short, he is a gem!
