Story
She was spayed and is loving life in a home not a barn. She is a beautiful medium golden retriever poodle mix and is 2 years old. She is truly the sweetest girl! Azula is learning how to be a dog more each day and that everything doesn't have to be scary. She loves to watch out the window and door especially on nice sunny days. Relaxing on comfy dog bed while watching TV one of her favs, recently she found cuddling with foster mom/family is also amazing :). Toys are still new concept so far bones and small stuffy are best, most liked treat at time small dental bones/chews. Of course if someone sneaks her human treats that's glad accepted ;) Azula does well with other dogs, cats are unknown, once she feels comfortable she loves to be around people. The car is also still scary but she's trying be brave and think it's amazing like her foster sibling. She has not had accidents in home, if required will go into crate (not often home a lone). She is working on commands, does not pull leash walking but does best with harness, will require fenced yard due to possibility of running from home area. Azula is looking for her forever family where she can continue to get love and get to explore more. Story
HONEY is a F1B Goldendoodle that was rescued from a puppy mill. She is a sactuary dog that is available under our Foster to Adopt program. She is 5 years old. She had an injured leg which required ACL surgery which we had done in 2019. She was terrified of people when she first came.. She was rescued in 2019 when she was one year old. Honey has come around. Her fear is getting better with people. Once she bonds with someone she is the sweetest most loveable dog to them. Like others in our sanctuary she will never be a social butterfly. Honey gets groomed every 2 months and rides in the car well, She will walk on a leash to the groomers building. This has become a routine. She needs routines. If she is familar with a place she will do well. She will probably never walk on a leash for daily walks, she will be too afraid. She just needs her back yard and her home. If you ever go on vacation she will need a dog sitter in your home. She will never do well taking a trip or going to boarding. Honey has become a bit protective of her people. If you have company she will stay away, however there have been incidents when a stranger turns their back she will try to nip at their butt or ankles then run away when they turn around. We feel she protecting us. We would not call this aggression it has never led to more than a nip and then she runs the other way. She does not do it with all people. The key would be for her to get to know your guests with treats. She would do best in a home with no children because of the possible nipping when friends come over. She is good with dogs, however she will be the alpha dog. She does not play with other dogs either, she just wants her people. She is a calm dog. She has no anxiety really. You can leave her to free roam. She never uses a crate. She can be trusted. She will not chew or get into anything.  She needs a secure fenced in yard and someone home during the day. You must be located within 50 miles of Grovertown, Indiana.  She is vaccinated, spayed , microchipped. Her adoption fee is $200 For more information on our Foster to Adopt Program go to this link https://indianasaveadog.com/foster-to-adopt ##2057193##

Story
Meet Millie a Golden Retriever we rescued from a puppy mill. Millie is a Sanctuary dog and available under our Foster to Adopt program.  Millie was born Sept 25, 2022. She weighs 50 lbs.. She is a gentle, sweet and loveable soul. Millie is in a foster home. She has gone from being terrified of people to loving everyone at her foster home. She will dance around for treats, and play with other dogs all day in her foster home. However, you will not see the happy side of Millie for a few weeks. She reverts to being afraid and  terrified in new surroundings and with new people. The trusting process will start all over again.  She needs a special home.  She will cower down when someone approaches her.  She will lay in a corner with her head down at first. She will not come to you. She will need to adjust on her own time   She is very treat motivated, although the first few weeks she would not take any treats from us. She was too scared. She does not walk on a leash, she will lay down. Once she trusts you, she will walk a bit on a leash, however she still has a long way to go. You may have to carry her outside for a while. SHE MUST HAVE A SECURE FENCED IN BACK YARD She gets along great with other dogs She needs another friendly, submissive, younger, easy going dog in the home to teach her how to be a dog, this is a must  She needs an adult in the family who is home more, no young children under 10 years of age, although she loves all people and kids she is skittish.   She sleeps in a crate in the bedroom at night. She sleeps through the night, without a peep as long as the crate is in the bedroom. If we put the crate in another room, she will bark . When she first came here she had a open door crate in the family room which was her safe place. Mille will need to be crated when you leave, she will chew up things and counter surf. This is one of the reasons that she needs a home where the adopter is home during the day. She does not like to be crated.  Millie will take time and patience for her to come around. She needs a special home. Thankfully treats are the way to her heart, but not at first.  She is comfortable in her foster home. She will get into things when you are not watching, she will chew things like pillows, and indoor plants.  She is housetrained , however the foster home does have a pet door so she goes outside as she pleases. Millie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and is microchipped. She is a sweet, gentle unsocialized girl that came from a bad puppy mill and needs a lot of patience before she will trust you.  We are looking for the right home,  Only apply if you are serious and meet our adoption criteria. You must work out of your home or be retired. She can not be crated for long periods of time. Can you carry a 50lb dog to the back yard if she won't walk?  You must have a secure fenced in yard, and another confident and happy dog to show Millie how to be a dog. You must live within 50 miles of Grovertown, Indiana. For more information on our Foster to Adopt Program go to this link https://indianasaveadog.com/foster-to-adopt ##1804545##

Story
Look at this face! Beau sure is one handsome boy that is all "Doodle" including smarts and plenty of energy. He is looking for someone to continue with his obedience training, so he can be a wonderful and fun companion. He is somewhat protective of his possessions, so a home without children would be the best fit for Beau. We have not introduced Beau to other dogs or cats at this point. If you have the time and patience to work with this guy, especially teaching him to share, he is a wonderful loving dog. Breed experience and a fenced yard preferred.DOB 9/20/19 70 poundsI'm waiting for a home to call my own. email webmaster@petrefuge.com to learn more about me or fill out an application at https://www.petrefuge.com/adoptPet Refuge was formed in 1978 to help with cats and dogs in need of homes. Story
Cream Sicle Solomon came to us from a breeding kennel who relinquished him by no fault of his own. He simply got too old for a pet store. This is an extremely sweet boy who is good with people & other dogs. He would benefit from some basic obedience and confidence building because he is a puppy. He has never been in a home and everything is new to him. His birth date is 07/27/23 and he currently weighs 56#. This os a nervous pup and will not be placed with small children. Update - he is in foster & house trained! He has been vet. checked, neutered, micro chipped, is up to date on routine shots & wormings including rabies, and has been treated with flea & heart worm preventative per our protocol. He is heart worm negative. His adoption donation is $650 and needs to be cash, certified check, money order or a debit/credit card. There is a 3% processing fee when using a debit/credit card.  Any extra funds collected in his adoption donation not used for his vetting, will go into our general vetting fund for other dogs in need. We do not ship or transport. Please email for an application if you would like to provide this nice kid with his forever home. ##2052185##
