Story
Rambo is a people dog. He is a 7 year old, 85 lbs teddy bear who loves cuddles. He shows so much love. He wants nothing more than to be at your feet every second of the day. Rambo is house trained, follows commands, and does well in the car. His second favorite thing to do (other than snuggle) is play fetch. He loves a good ball or stick! Unfortunately, he does not do well with other dogs so would prefer to live with people only. He currently lives with another dog who he absolutely adores, but about four years ago, Rambo was attacked by an off leash dog. Rambo has since bit two dogs. He is muzzle trained so can be around dogs while wearing a muzzle. He is completely fine with the dog he lives with- no muzzle needed. He just does not do well with new dogs since being attacked. Rambo is truly the most loving dog I have ever met towards humans. He deserves a loving home that can provide lots of treats and snuggles.

Story
Russell is a Golden Retriever Lab Mix approximately 7-8 years old, weighs about 45 pounds This beautiful boy survived a hoarder house fire, and we rescued him along with five of his mates who have slowly adjusted to their individual homes. Russell and his pal Sophie are taking a little longer to overcome their trauma, but they are not particularly bonded and can be adopted separately. Russell is very good with people, likes men and women, is very friendly, easy going. He is extremely shy and takes several weeks to come to you, but once there is trust, he attaches! Russell needs someone who is at home since he has severe separation anxieties. When you are not at home, he will require an industrial grade crate because he will try to get out at all cost. No kids, teens fine, loud noise and sudden movement scare him. He is scared of dogs other than Sophie so we recommend him as your only dog so he can bond deeply with you and establish trust. His foster writes, “Russell needs a fenced yard since It terrifies him to put a collar and leash on him; once on he does okay and follows your lead. A fenced yard where he can lounge would make him very happy since he is not very active. He loves lying around. and especially being close to you once he establishes he is safe and that you will protect him.” Russell absolutely needs an experienced owner who is around 90% of the time. His foster explains, ”When he is with a person he trusts, he is a very calm, easy going dog . He must have his security blanket - which is a ball, at all times. He will cry if he does not have one. He needs a home as the only dog so that he can have free range of movement, or with his sibling (Sophie). He absolutely panics when I leave the room, even for a few minutes and will do damage if not crated . He has to be able to see you. Once he is with you he truly is the best dog ever. " This dog is available and everything we know about this dog is included in the dog's description. We are only able to respond to questions once a completed application is received https://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. We do not respond to questions about our dogs sent through email or social media. Excellent vet references and a virtual home visit required. Your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We transport by land or air whenever possible. Unless there is definitive documentation our breed and age assessments are based on visual appearances.July 26, 2024, 12:42 pm

Story
Are you searching for a dog that will be your running partner? Someone who will motivate you to get up early and go on challenging adventures? Maybe a pup that will excel at agility or dock diving? If so, I am NOT your girl. Move on to the next available pup in the queue. My name is Julie. I am a 9 year old voluptuous princess. I am looking for a companion to spoil me rotten like the royalty I am. I was surrendered to a shelter with another well cared for dog along with some of our vet records. My foster mom speculates that perhaps something sad happened and our owner could not care for us anymore. She says there's no way someone could love me my whole life and take good care of me and then just chose to let me go. My 76 pounds is a bit much even for my large bones, so I was started on a diet. My foster pawrents think I was fed mainly table food. All I know is this supposedly nutritious healthy kibble does not taste like what I'm used to, but I am adjusting. They say my hips will feel better with less chunk and more activity. In the meantime, the nice vet lady gave me some medicine to take care of any aches. I am spayed and up to date on all of my vaccines and preventatives. I am negative for heartworm and any tick-born diseases. My dream retirement home has at least one person with hands. I am a content gal and appreciative of any and all affection. I enjoy options when it come to napping; a soft comfy bed followed by cool floors. My leash walking is slow and easy. A couple of short trips a day around to visit the neighbors would be wonderful and help us both work on our figures. I don't mind having another calm dog in the home, but I'm also ok with being your one and only. I have your typical golden retriever happy-go-lucky personality. My luscious thick soft coat will require regular grooming, but I am a willing participant. I prefer to be with my people, but have been alone for brief periods and done fine. I don't love being crated and since I'm a well behaved housebroken adult, I don't need it. A house with only a few stairs would be best for me. Do you long for the grateful thump of a heavy tail on the floor when you walk in the room? Would you like to see my beaming smile full of love when you come back from the long trip to the mailbox? Can I follow you around while you work on the garden? I really don't even need a fenced yard. If so, I sure would like to meet you! Send an email and let's fall in love.
