Ozzie is a very smart dog and loves doing tricks for his favorite treats and getting attention, but he also appreciates just chilling near his owners and does well while owners are away on long work shifts. He is Canine Good Citizen Certified and has passed a pre agility class. He loves sniffing on walks, being brushed, and playing tug of war. He is a good listener and has amazing recall.We have Ozzie on a dry food, no chicken diet from Costco. He gets boarded at the kennel when we travel and is up to date at the vet.Ozzie has started guarding his primary owner and food from guests in our home but is fine in public areas. Our home is small and guests visit quite infrequently. It took him a little time to develop the guarding in our home so he will be fine initially and with regular visitors. Ozzie is also best as an only pet because he does not like to share toys with other pets, but is fine with other pets otherwise.

Story
Loudon is an 8-year-old male purebred show Golden Retriever with a medium energy level and a big personality. He enjoys leisurely walks, cozy couch time, and playing fetch with his impressive toy collection—especially his favorites: squirrel, lamby, and sloth (yes, he knows them by name!). He also takes his role as “yard supervisor” seriously and has a natural talent for digging and keeping an eye on the local squirrel population. When Loudon first came into rescue, he had several medical needs, including being significantly overweight, joint discomfort, a chronic ear infection, and allergies. With the support of his foster family and NRGRR, he has made wonderful progress—losing over 20 pounds and continuing toward a healthy goal weight. He is also doing much better with the help of medications to manage his joint health, ear condition, and anxiety. Loudon is a loving and engaging companion who forms strong bonds with his people. He enjoys affection, but like many dogs, he appreciates having his boundaries respected. He prefers to initiate contact and will let you know he’s ready for attention by nudging or gently pawing you, or by sweetly tucking his nose between your legs. Being mindful of his comfort, especially around more sensitive areas like his lower back, feet, and belly, helps him feel safe and secure. Loudon can be protective of high-value treats and the people he is closest to, particularly his primary caregiver. He communicates this through body language such as positioning himself nearby, growling, or giving clear signals that he needs space. With an understanding owner who can read and respect these cues, Loudon thrives and feels more at ease. While Loudon previously lived with another dog, he is currently most comfortable as the only pet in the home. He would do best in a calm, adult-only household where he can relax without the stress of sharing his space with other animals or young children. Loudon’s ideal home is one that offers a balance of gentle activity and quiet downtime, along with access to a yard or outdoor space where he can explore and enjoy himself. Most importantly, he needs a patient and committed adopter who understands his needs and is willing to continue supporting his progress. In return, Loudon offers loyalty, companionship, and a wonderful sense of humor. He is a special dog who, with the right person or family, will continue to blossom and share the love he has to give.

Her picture does not quite do her auburn coat justice as the color and wee bit o'fluff makes her even that much more exotic. This retriever mix adult gal weighs 38 lbs full grown and is just plain lovely. A little shy at first, she is a ball of fun when she settles in and does great with other dogs and enjoys playing as well as adult time just being and exploring the world around her. Heidi would settle well into many homes and would do great with a doggo sibling as well as being the apple of your eye. Biscuit is a very sweet 10 year old girl who we’ve enjoyed in our family since she was just an 11 week old puppy. She’s been a loving pal to my two boys since they were 8 and 11 yrs old respectively. She even weathered through divorce, adapting to life back and forth between two households. Boys are grown and out of house now. Biscuit deserves to continue her senior years in a loving household with consistent attention and devotion that my life circumstances don’t allow for any longer. She's 42 pounds and loves to lounge around mostly but when offered, she’ll play a mean ball fetch! Try as we might, she’s never taken to liking other dogs as playmates and can behave highly reactive, so she would do best as a solo pet in new home. She takes a few minutes to warm up to new people, behaving slightly reactive at first but can be warmed up fairly quickly when new friends are patient and offer some treats and toss a ball for her, then she's got you in her inner circle!
