Story
Cookie is a 3.5 year old half Golden Retriever, half Pitt/Staffordshire terrier mix who has been with me since she was born! She is very well socialized as she began twice weekly daycare at 6 months and has always lived with other dogs. She is fairly high energy, loves attention and play time and does best with a fenced in back yard (preferably with a doggie door) so she can entertain herself when no one is home. She is fully trained and knows all basic commands plus a few, however, she can get very excited when you come home etc... and may jump so very young kids or elderly adopters may not be the best fit. Cookie has never been involved in a fight with any dog or human in all her years of daycare and is a super affectionate lovely girl! Ideally, the smoothest transition for her new home would be into a family or active household with a fenced yard or lots of walks and plenty of love and attention to give as she is very used to being spoiled :) Moving August 1st 2024.

Story
Russell is a Golden Retriever Lab Mix approximately 7-8 years old, weighs about 45 pounds This beautiful boy survived a hoarder house fire, and we rescued him along with five of his mates who have slowly adjusted to their individual homes. Russell and his pal Sophie are taking a little longer to overcome their trauma, but they are not particularly bonded and can be adopted separately. Russell is very good with people, likes men and women, is very friendly, easy going. He is extremely shy and takes several weeks to come to you, but once there is trust, he attaches! Russell needs someone who is at home since he has severe separation anxieties. When you are not at home, he will require an industrial grade crate because he will try to get out at all cost. No kids, teens fine, loud noise and sudden movement scare him. He is scared of dogs other than Sophie so we recommend him as your only dog so he can bond deeply with you and establish trust. His foster writes, “Russell needs a fenced yard since It terrifies him to put a collar and leash on him; once on he does okay and follows your lead. A fenced yard where he can lounge would make him very happy since he is not very active. He loves lying around. and especially being close to you once he establishes he is safe and that you will protect him.” Russell absolutely needs an experienced owner who is around 90% of the time. His foster explains, ”When he is with a person he trusts, he is a very calm, easy going dog . He must have his security blanket - which is a ball, at all times. He will cry if he does not have one. He needs a home as the only dog so that he can have free range of movement, or with his sibling (Sophie). He absolutely panics when I leave the room, even for a few minutes and will do damage if not crated . He has to be able to see you. Once he is with you he truly is the best dog ever. " This dog is available and everything we know about this dog is included in the dog's description. We are only able to respond to questions once a completed application is received https://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. We do not respond to questions about our dogs sent through email or social media. Excellent vet references and a virtual home visit required. Your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We transport by land or air whenever possible. Unless there is definitive documentation our breed and age assessments are based on visual appearances.April 19, 2024, 12:31 pm
