Story
Meet Bean!  In Old English, “bean” means “life”, which is exactly what Bean exudes!  He is a 3-year-old goldendoodle who weighs 45 pounds. General Behavior: Bean is best described by his foster as a special boy who loves to be around people.  He has good basic manners and while he loves to play, he can also be a “couch potato”.  General Behavior: Bean is best described by his foster as a special boy who loves to be around people.  He has good basic manners and while he loves to play, he can also be a “couch potato”.  Likes & Dislikes: You could call this guy Captain Bean, as he loves boating and swimming.  In Bean’s ideal world, he would live in a home with a pool where he could swim and splash around.  He also loves to snuggle and enjoys playing with other dogs. Bean has a love for stuffed animals.  In fact, maybe a little too much.  He seems to do fine with other toys, but will shred stuffed animals, so we don’t recommend them for him.  Bean is not a fan of loud noises when he is outside walking on his leash and will startle easily, resulting in him scooting forward or backwards towards the loud noise.  We are optimistic that his new human can work with him on this.  Training: Bean is one smart cookie and knows basic commands such as “Sit”, “Come”, “Down”, “Stay” and “Wait”.  He knows hand signals for commands and is also working on “Place” and “Heel”. Speaking of cookies (dog ones only of course) . . . Bean is food motivated, which lends itself to easier training.  Bean sits to have his leash put on him and walks well on a leash.  In fact, he struts his stuff on walks at least two times a day.  He does “puppy bite” when playing but will stop if you tell him “Easy”.  He is housetrained when let out on a regular schedule and after meals. He also enjoys car rides and will sit or lie down like a good boy. Medical:  Bean is a healthy boy and will only require his monthly heartworm and flea preventative.  Other Animals: Bean enjoys the company of other dogs but would also be fine as an only dog.  He has not been tested around cats, but we feel he would do ok with them. Children: Due to Bean’s size and his periodic “play biting”, Bean would be best suited in a home with respectful teens.    Home:  Bubbly Bean is best suited in a single-family home, preferably with a fenced yard where he can play outside.  And, as mentioned, a pool would be a major bonus!  After a day of play, Bean is fine resting in the house with his people.  At night, he would love to sleep in the human bed but is just as comfortable sleeping in his own space overnight where he can dream of swimming.  Grooming: As a poodle blend, Bean has little to no shedding, but he will need regular brushing, which he really enjoys.  He will also need professional grooming approximately every 8 weeks.  You should plan to budget $100 for his grooming.  Overall: Bean would be a wonderful addition to your life if you have lots of love to give and the time and energy for him to get the exercise he needs. The sky is the limit with this fun-loving guy. Are you the one for Bean? Visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org, where you will find the application to adopt. You'll be put in contact with his foster family if it's a potential match. Bean is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative, and neutered. His adoption donation is $550. ##2019180##
