Story
My name is Dexter, and I don’t mean to brag, but I’m a pretty special guy! I’m an 8yearyoung Poodle blend, weighing in at 19 lbs. I’m a loving, quirky boy with lots to say — mostly through my collection of funny noises. Remember the sounds the pterodactyls made in Jurassic Park? Yep… that’s me! Favorite Things: Dexter LOVES squeaky toys and stuffed animals — the more, the better. Fetch is one of his favorite games, and he’ll proudly bring you his stuffie and ask for a solid 10–15 throws before he’s satisfied. After that, he’ll grab his toy and settle in for a wellearned rest (and you can rest your throwing arm). He’s very foodmotivated and will “talk” to you while you prepare his meals… just a little encouragement to speed things along. And if you have a pool? Dexter will happily hop onto your float and lounge right beside you. Training & Manners: Dexter has great manners and walks nicely on a leash. He’s excellent about going potty outdoors when kept on a consistent schedule. He doesn’t get into things and enjoys free rein of the house with his furry foster pals, whether his family is home or away.  He’s a perfect passenger in the car — he rides in his secure car seat, watches the world go by, and then settles in for a nap. Health & Care: Dexter is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, neutered, and recently had a dental cleaning. He takes a lowdose calcium medication that costs about $1/day — he looks forward to his twicedaily dose and takes it like a treat. He’s also on monthly heartworm and flea prevention, like any dog should be.  His fur is soft and thin, so he’ll need professional grooming every 10–12 weeks. He’s a perfect gentleman for grooming appointments and athome baths. Other Animals: Dexter is good with dogs of all sizes, and he’s just fine with cats too.  Children: Dexter enjoys gentle affection and scratches from people of all ages, but he does not appreciate kids grabbing at him or trying to pick him up. For this reason, a home with older (8 +), respectful children — or an adultonly home — would be ideal. Ideal Home: Dexter would thrive in a singlefamily home. He can be vocal at times (remember those pterodactyl sounds?) and has big opinions when you leave the house without him, so shared walls in an apartment or condo aren’t the best fit. He’d love a fenced yard or a human who enjoys leisurely walks — either works for him. At night, he sleeps in the “human bed” and uses the steps to get up and down. He sleeps soundly through the night and will happily snooze in and snuggle on the weekends. What more could you ask for? Overall: Dexter is a loving, quirky Poodley boy ready to meet his forever family. Could that be you? If so, please visit  www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to fill out an adoption application and our team will be in touch. His adoption donation is $350. ##2671265##

Story
Hi, I'm Jeff! Five years old, 68 pounds, and every bit of it devoted to my people. I'm a Standard Poodle with an energetic playful streak, a soft spot for kisses, and a toy habit I'm not even a little sorry about. I am currently looking for a forever family! If you're looking for a dog who's genuinely excited about you, I'm your guy, and I am ready to be someone's whole heart.  Favorite Things: Jeff is a cheese enthusiast who lives for his favorite humans. He's goofy, clever, and totally tuned into the people around him, always ready to make you laugh. He LOVES toys and is never without one, whether he's proudly carrying it around or using it as an invitation for a play session. Jeff's the kind of dog who wants to be in on everything you're doing, and desperately wants to have his person.  Long walks are absolutely his thing, and he can't wait to explore the world with his person by his side. Training & Manners: Jeff is housetrained, crate trained, and is fine in a secured area. He’s been working on his leash skills and polishing basic manners and obedience. He’s a smart, eager learner and his foodmotivation makes training fun. He also rides calmly in the car.  Health & Care:  Jeff is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations, and going forward he'll just need monthly flea and heartworm preventatives like any dog. Regular brushing and professional grooming will keep his gorgeous poodle coat looking and feeling its best. Other Animals: Jeff bonds deeply with his people, so he'll need to be the only pet in the home. He's working on his leash manners around other dogs and would thrive with an adopter who's patient and consistent, a confident handler who can redirect his focus will set him up for success. Children: Jeff does not have experience with children at this time. Ideal Home: Jeff isn't choosy as to the type of forever home he has, but he will need plenty of playtime and exercise. He will thrive with a family who appreciates a bright, affectionate poodle and can offer a predictable routine. He may bark when left alone for long stretches, so structure will help him feel secure. Overall: Jeff is a loving, quirky poodle ready to meet his forever family. Could that be you? If so, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to fill out an adoption application. If it seems like a good match, our team will reach out with more information. His adoption donation is $300. ##2627739##

Story
Hi, I'm Daisy!  I’m a tiny, 8-lb Maltese/Poodle blend girl and I'm 10 years old. My hearing and vision aren't what they used to be, but I don’t let that stop me from exploring. Now I just need to discover a very special, patient family who will love me just the way I am. Favorite Things: Daisy LOVES her food and loves soaking up attention. Toys and playing are not really her thing, but exploring her surroundings is high on her list of favorite activities. She also loves being around her person and will sit next to them as much as possible (and extra close in bed at night). Training & Manners:  Daisy is working on her house training and will need to be taken outside frequently.  Due to her vision, she doesn’t do well on a leash so will need more practice with leash walking, and her hearing sometimes makes it difficult to communicate with her. The good news is that she is highly food-motivated to improve her manners.  She is verbal when she wants food but is otherwise quiet. Health and Care: Daisy is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is on daily drops for dry eyes and takes her monthly preventatives for fleas and heartworm, along with medications for anxiety. She will likely require professional grooming every 6-8 weeks to keep her looking and feeling her best. Other Animals:  Daisy has experience with other small dogs and cats.  Children: This gentle, curious gal would do best in a home with respectful teens only.    Ideal Home: Daisy would do well in an apartment, condo or single-family home.  Her “dream” home would be a house without steps (although she is tiny enough to carry) and no pool (for safety reasons with her vision impairment).  A fenced yard would keep her safe and give her room for her adventurous explorations. She has free rein of her foster home and can be left for several hours without issues. She sleeps in the “people bed” at night and is happy to cozy up to her person. Overall: Daisy is a great and loyal companion asking only for food, love, attention, and patience (and creativity when it comes to communication.)  Could special Daisy be the one for you? If so, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org and submit an adoption application. If it looks like a good fit, her foster family will reach out with more information. Her adoption donation is $175. ##2667454##

Story
Marty is being fostered in PA. 6/18/26 Update 6/9/2026 Marty is doing well in his foster home. He is most likely, closer to 16 years old. He is now on 4 medications to treat his congestive heart failure. He eats very well and has no trouble locating his foster mom for breakfast and dinner. He continues to have noticeable arthritis in his lower back but seems to handle it well. He is a sweet and very quiet boy who loves the simple things in life such as a soft bed, timely meals, lots of time to nap and kisses on his head. He prefers to lie in his bed and is not comfortable being a lap dog. Marty’s adoptive home would need to willing to allow him to sleep in a doggy bed and not insist he sleep on a lap or furniture. They would also have to be located within a few hours of his foster home, as a transport would not be healthy for him. 1-17-2026 Update for Marty Marty is doing really well in his foster home and is still a spunky little man with a bit of arthritis in his backend but it doesn't slow him down. Marty's hearing continues to be pretty good for his age and he is right in the mix of his foster siblings when Mom comes home after being out for any time. Marty's hair has grown in nicely on his back. He was almost bald when he came to his foster home. Marty's foster mom had never seen a change in a foster's personality quite as drastic as she did following Marty's dental, when all of his teeth had to be removed. Some teeth were so badly decayed that they had begun to calcify and attach to his jaw bones. After a few days of recovery, he began to eat and to be interested in the world. Marty eats soaked kibble with some soft food mixed in and eats every bite of each meal. He is now on 4 medications for his congestive heart failure and is doing very well with just an occasional cough. Fun facts about Marty: -He LOVES burrowing into beds that have a flap for him to crawl under -He is not safe when on furniture because he will quickly decide he wants off and give no warning and has no fear. -Marty never barks -Marty is smaller than the two cats in his foster home and really doesn't care. :) Little Marty is a sweet, easy-going little mini poodle guy who gets along with dogs and cats and people of all ages. His breed is guessed at as a full blooded mini poodle. His estimated age is about 13 but he's a very quick-stepping little man and enjoys exploring his environment, especially outside. He can find his way to the door and he was doing a great job at pottying outside until his foster mom went back to work a couple weeks ago. He will be very easy to get back in the habit of eliminating outside with a forever family who is home more. He's fairly easy to figure out in that, if he's up and exploring, he needs to go out. :) Marty has a very thin coat of fur on his torso but he does not have any visible skin issues and does not itch. His thyroid levels were checked and were fine. We know little about his past life so he may be recuperating from a past issue. Marty is leash trained and does well but because he's a small and older guy, walks won't be very fast. He also rides well in the car. At this time, he seems to enjoy dog bed hopping over being on a lap and he will walk right off the edge of a chair or bed. He needs to be carried up and down stairs and has no awareness of being at the top of stairs. He will remind his foster mom if his breakfast or dinner is overly late. Marty has had a slight cough since arriving in his foster home and following an xray on September 16th, it was discovered that his heart is slightly enlarged and he has a small amount of fluid in the upper portion of his one lung. These are both signs of congestive heart failure, which is fairly common in little old men like Marty. He will probably need to take Benazepril, Lasix and Pimobendan for the rest of his life. These medications run about 50.00 per month. Marty will have a dental on September 26th. He will probably need to have most, if not all, of his teeth extracted but it will be so much better for him to have a healthy mouth again! Marty will make a sweet little companion for some family. He's very excited to be spoiled and doted on for the rest of his days. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
