Story
NAME:MaxxSTATS:Male, Dane Corso/ Mastiff Mix, 1.5 years, 115 lbs.TEMPERAMENT:Shy at first and warms up.Needs seasoned owner to work with issues (see below).Moderately ActiveInitially was told he was fearful of men, which seems to be he just needs slow introductions to new people where he can approach them at his own pace. Warms up quickly to men and women as long as it is done slowly and at his pace. Initially weary of strangers. SKILLSPotty trained.Crate trained.Older children in a savvy home only (12+)Has not been exposed to cats.Has not been exposed to other dogs and ideally looking to place as an only dog at this time.MORE ABOUT ME:Likes belly rubs.Needs patient proactive owner willing to work on behavior (see details below).Signing up for basic training will be a requirement to adopt. EXPERIENCED/large breed savvy owners required.ONE LAST THING:Maxx is a supersized puppy with lots of attention and love to give to the right family. He is goofy and loves to play, especially with an appropriately sized toy like his JUMBO Jolly-Ball. He loves treats and while he is a little on the shy side at first with new people, he warms up quickly as long as it is done at his pace. After the initial warm up phase, his true personality comes out. There is a playful side to him as well as a lazy lay at your feet side, although sometimes he may mistakenly lay on your feet in his attempt to cuddle :).Maxx initially had negative reactions when it came to strangers and pretty much everything new to him (including swaying palm trees). With reassurance, positive reinforcement in the form of treats, and looking to his handler for a confidence boost, his triggers have lost power. He will need continued socialization, desensitization, and training. With the right forever home, Maxx will continue to improve. He picks up on things very quickly and is very treat and toy motivated. He does need someone who will be patient with him, but also serve as someone who he can turn to for confidence and stability when he is unsure or frightened of something new for reassurance. Story
We apologize to the local fire department for that spate of 911 calls this morning from a handful of very resourceful chihuahuas. The giant alien they spotted at Muttville is a Great Dane named True North who happens to love dogs, even very small ones, and people, including firefighters. And they love him back due to his majestic handsomeness, childlike curiosity, and his habit of gently leaning in to invite the kind of neck petting that one generally reserves for horses. Of course, he loves long hikes and adventures! Look at him! He also is fine with stairs, and maybe, if you ask nicely, some modeling, including occasional runway work. Go ahead and swoon when you meet him. Happens all the time. HERE'S SOME NOTES FROM HIS FOSTER: Meet True North - A Gentle Giant Looking for His Forever Home. True North is a lovable Great Dane who is hoping to find his perfect match! This sweet boy is the definition of a gentle giant. At home, he's wonderfully calm and relaxed, spending most of his time napping peacefully. But when he's awake, he can't wait to receive all the pets and cuddles. True North absolutely adores making new four-legged friends. He's been very well-behaved at the dog park, though he does get a bit excited when he sees other pups and may pull on the leash. But he's already making great progress on his leash manners! In the neighborhood, True North is quite the local celebrity. Everyone loves seeing his friendly face around town. He's incredibly gentle with children and small dogs, though he may occasionally jump up when he's really excited. This big guy still has a bit of a puppy spirit! True North is an active boy who loves going on long walks, sometimes up to 2 hours a day. But he's also just as happy to lounge around the house playing with his toys. He's very reliable, waking up between 7-8am to go outside and having his main potty break in the evenings. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion to join your family, True North might just be the one! This gentle giant will bring so much joy and laughter to your home. Come meet True North today and see if he's the perfect match for you! STAFF PICK: Puppy alert! I am so in love with this long-legged boy with the biggest heart. He's snuggly, playful, and happy. True North is a true leaner, and he loves to be close and involved with whatever you're doing. No one told him that is not a lap-sized dog or that he is a card-carrying member of a senior dog rescue. He's a puppy through and thorough, with lots of love to give and adventures to embark on. I don't know how he's keeping his super-model figure, as he is a snack aficionado and will happily sit and shake to earn them. He's my kind of guy, so deserving and so sweet. I hope he finds a fun-loving home where he will be spoiled and enjoyed.

Story
Seamus (shay-mus) is a one-of-a-kind blockhead who is ready to give his heart to the right person or family. He is in a foster home with lots of dogs and does well with everyone. He’s shown that he is super smart, friendly, playful, emotionally in-tune with his human friends, and a supreme cuddle bug. Seamus is crate-trained, knows basic commands, and walks nicely on-leash. He can be excitable in the way he wants to give all his love at once, but is learning to control his impulses as he continues to decompress in his new structured environment. Seamus is 6 years old, 70ish pounds and healthy. California Pit bull Rescue is an official 501(c)(3) and requires an adoption application and $200 donation fee for all adoptions.July 25, 2024, 8:21 pm

Story
Lilah is a beautiful Great Dane. She was born in August of 2022. She is extremely affectionate and wants to curl up in your lap! She is currently a little over 100 pounds. She was an outdoor dog but loves coming into the office to visit us. We want her to be able to be in an environment where she can be with her family more and be inside at night and in hot or very cold weather. Great Danes are very sensitive dogs and really thrive when able to be with their family. She will need to learn house manners, but she is a smart girl and can learn quickly. Loves to play but doesn't know her own size yet. Lilah does seem to be dog reactive, so we will need her to be single pet only. She will make a great pet for someone! $300.00 will help us with the cost of her spay, microchipping and vaccinations. Please visit our website www.petsnpals.org to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs and cats.
