Story
Alaska is a beauty! She was on an adventure when spotted and arrived to the shelter on 1/20. Alaska is 3 years old and weighs in at 104 pounds. This sweet girl deserves a do over. She has not had the best of care and would benefit from some regular meals. We love her eyes of one blue and one brown. Wouldn't you like to wake up to this loving girl every morning? She will need a special family as she has tested positive for heart worm. Ask for ID# 16466 Run 855. She will be spayed soon and micro-chipped upon adoption. She has tested positive for heart worm. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. If this cat or dog came in as a lost animal, we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When inquiring about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER. This pet is available for adoption from Cobb County Animal Services, 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, (770) 499-4136. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heartworm or combo test and a microchip.

Story
Maggie is a beautiful, but very sad girl who was surrendered on 1/13/26. Although she has been fine around some of the female dogs at the shelter, her owner reported she was not getting along with the other female dog in the home. Maggie is good with both cats and kids. She is obedient and sits nicely for treats. Additionally, she is house trained. She desperately wants a forever family to love her and bring back her smile. Maggie is 2 years old and weighs 63 pounds. She is UTD on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. Sadly, Maggie’s owner did not give her monthly heartworm prophylaxis and Maggie did test positive for heartworms. Please know that with proper treatment and care she can go on to live a long and healthy life. Please stop by to meet this beautiful girl in run 56; her ID # is 16302. She is very ready for adoption. Ask the shelter about its foster-to adopt program while Maggie undergoes shelter-provided treatment for her heartworms. Story
Sable is a three year old Great Dane (pure bred). She is on the small side for a Great Dane, she is 95lbs. She is a gentle giant, friendly, a lover. She wants nothing more than to be with a human or another dog. Inside the house she is very well trained, never has accidents, doesn’t chew anything. She delights in just following you around from room to room or resting her head on you. 🥰 She does fairly well on a leash but gets excited to see other dogs and certainly cats or squirrels. She will follow commands when in a calm, familiar environment, but when she is outside or excited, she has a hard time listening and needs more training. I have had Sable almost a year. Prior to me she lived in a trailer with 4 kids and 4 cats, and her main caretaker passed away suddenly and that’s when I adopted her. I am looking to re-home her because I work long hours and I feel bad leaving Sable with little interaction, especially since she is social and loving.

Story
Meet Oscar, a one-year-old Great Dane mix rescued from a high-kill shelter by Castoff Pet Rescue. Despite a very difficult start to life, Oscar has grown into a devoted, affectionate companion who bonds deeply with his people. Oscar is house broken, crate trained, and a true velcro dog—he’s convinced he’s a lap dog and happiest right by your side. He is playful, loving, and eager to be part of his family’s daily life. Because Oscar was severely abused, he can be protective of his people because he loves so deeply. With proper introductions and structure, he does well with dogs similar in size who are not overly protective by nature, and once comfortable, he truly loves to play. Oscar is not good with cats and will need a cat-free home. He is currently in a foster home with cats and he only chases them when they run, but it is not ideal. Oscar currently weighs about 60 pounds and is still filling out, so he may grow a bit more. He has already completed professional training, and his trainer will continue to support his future adopters, including offering free doggie daycare to help him maintain his skills and confidence. Oscar would thrive in a home familiar with large breeds that values continued training and understands the loyalty of a dog who has learned to trust again. In return, he offers unwavering devotion, affection, and constant companionship. If you’re looking for a loving, loyal shadow who will always be by your side, Oscar may be the perfect fit.
