Story
Daisy is a 5 year old 96 lb. Great Dane. Daisy is a sweet lovable goofball with a lot of energy. She needs a big yard to run in and to enjoy her life. Daisy is fully housebroken and is not destructive. She gets along well with other dogs. We recently combined households and Daisy now has two kitty sisters that she lives with. The cats are terrified of her and the adjustment is not going well. This is not because Daisy is aggressive in any way towards the kitties. She is just so big that when she walks towards them with her size, they run. This is because Daisy is huge and rambunctious and not trained to sit, stay, or come. (The lack of dog training is not Daisy's fault; no one has taken the time to try.) Daisy spends her days lounging on her favorite blanket. Daisy walks well on a gentle leader. Daisy would make someone a great pet. She is a lovebug that just wants attention and love.

Story
Meet Lola! Lola is a Great Dane believed to be now 5/6 years of age based on her surrender intake information. Lola has been with us since May 2020. Her skin condition has improved but does need continued prevention care for the rest of her life. Lola's requirements are simple but can seem like a lot. Let's talk about Lola's personality first. Lola is the definition of LOVE. She loves all she meets. It is humans and critters big and small she loves and accepts all. Her happy adoring sweet easy simple personality makes life with her amazing. Lola is food motivated and enjoys napping and relaxing but will easily walk a mile too. She is a go-with-the-foo kinda girl. She is playful and loves all dogs. She enjoys playing wrestling snuggling napping and cuddling. She is a bed hog and one who prefers to be with her humans and animal companions always. Lola currently sleeps in a big bed with several other dogs. Lola is a sweet and calm girl but still playful. She loves going on walks and greeting people. She mostly enjoys eating, sleeping, and relaxing enjoying the day go by in the company of those she loves. She would be a great cooking buddy and taste tester as this girl loves food but she does have allergies and is pretty severe too. When she's hungry or thinks she deserves a treat, she will nudge you toward the kitchen. Lola is a quiet girl who enjoys a good car ride, nap time, central air in the summer, and a warm fire in the winter. She will snuggle up with anyone willing to share their bed or sofa. Lola enjoys the company of other dogs and doesn't mind the attention and sharing space with cats. Lola would do well in a home with mellow kids. Lola requires a very faithful committed responsible person who can oversee her care and afford it as well. Currently on a prescription diet, dry mix with wet food. She requires medical baths and lathered in a moisturizing cream to keep her skin hydrated as needed, really she is like every pampered high maintenance girl. But she's a doggo. Lola does take supplements to help improve healing and care of her skin as well as Rx meds needed if she has a flair-up. Flairs are easy to prevent. Clean healthy environment, her prescription food, must have ac in the summer and added moister in the winter. I use a humidifier. Lola had a hard start in life. Neglect at its worse. I just hope someone will adopt her and expose her to the world of a loved pet. A family, a home of her own, and the luxury of belonging and being part of a loving family. A nice size yard would be nice but not mandatory. She is well trained off leash and her recall is perfect. She makes an excellent apartment condo living girl. If you know the breed you understand. Lola is house and crate trained, current to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto & corona, 1 or 3-year rabies,  dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped including free registration for life, spay/neutered, heartworm & lyme diseases tested negative upon adoption,  and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. We do NOT ship and meet and greet are required before adoption unless you are a previous adopter. Previous adopters of AHS have the first choice and are not expected to pay another adoption fee again.  Donation of their choice is welcomed. Training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues and opportunities arise daily that have to be addressed and or rewarded. Continued training is a must. Adoption process information can be found on our website www.animalhousesanctuary.org The Adoption Fee of $350 covers all of the above and everyday needs/care.  Update: 7/6/2023

Story
This sweet baby has been living with me, my senior dog, two cats, and several adults for the last 4 years. For the first several years she had lots of room to run. After I moved and had less space she has become a bit of an escape artist. She is high energy, and needs someone who can spend time playing with her, taking her on walks, and opportunities to run. She loves attention. She does currently live with two cats, but she can be a bit rough with them (runs at them too fast and scares them), but is currently best friends with our kitten. She has spent her whole life with my older dog, who recently passed away, and she is struggling with the transition. She would prefer to be in a house with another dog. I am currently planning a move to Chicago, where she will not be able to get the time and attention she needs, or the space. She is so smart, and a quick learner - especially with the right people who are dedicated to working with her on training. She knows basic commands.

Story
Hi,my name is Pharoah! I am the most stunning Great Dane mix you'll ever meet. At about a year old, I weigh roughly 90 lbs. My rescue mom thinks I might be mixed with Collie, but it's hard to tell without a DNA test. I was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas and transported all the way to my temporary rescue home in Indiana. I would love a place to call my permanent home. I'm goofy, silly, and I try hard to please. I do pull on the leash a bit. My rescue mom complains her back hurts because I'm so strong. She's working with me on that. Otherwise, I'm sweeter than pie! One look into my mesmerizing amber-colored eyes and you are sure to fall in love.

Story
I ACQUIRED TWEETIE AT ABOUT 3 MONTHS OLD. HE WAS BORN AROUND SEPTEMBER 6, 2023. HE WAS IN AN ABUSIVE SITUATION AND I COULD NOT ALLOW IT TO CONTINUE. I NEVER REALLY WANTED A DOG. BUT HE DIDN'T DESERVE WHAT HE WAS GOING THRU. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I HAVE END STAGE RENAL DISEASE AND I AM HAVING A VERY DIFFICULT TIME WITH MY HEALTH AND FINANCIALLY. I HAVE TRIED DESPERATELY BUT I JUST CAN'T CONTINUE TO TRY AND KEEP HIM. HE IS A GREAT DOG. VERY LOVING AND PLAYFUL. HE IS STILL A PUPPY SO HE GETS EXCITED WHEN HE SEES AND MEETS PEOPLE. HE LIKES HUGS AND RUB DOWNS. LIKES TO PLAY FETCH AND TEAR UP STUFFED TOYS. CAN BE LEFT IN HIS CAGE OR OUT. BUT LOVES TO BE OUT AMONGST PEOPLE. I WOULD LOVE FOR HIM TO GO TO A VERY LOVING HOME WITH A FAMILY THAT WILL PLAY WITH HIM AND GIVE HIM THE LOVE AND ATTENTION HE DESERVES AND GIVES OUT FREELY. HE IS NOT AGGRESSIVE JUST A BIG BABY WHO GETS EXCITED. HE WILL JUMP UP TO HUG YOU. HE LOVES KIDS AND PEOPLE. AND LOVES TO PLAY WITH OTHER DOGS.
