Story
Sweet Ruby came to us from a local shelter. She is a sweet girl but can be shy until she knows you. She is very food motivated so it's easy to win her over with tasty treats! She loves to run laps in the backyard with her foster sister Lulu. But also LOVES to snuggle up with her too. We feel Ruby would do best in a home with another Canine companion to help her with confidence and she truly loves their company. Ruby is dog friendly - Has lived with children - Knows “sit” and “no” - Very cuddly, attaches strongly to her person - Crate trained - Sleeps through the night on a bed on the floor (also loves sleeping in the bed when she is allowed) - Shares water and toys well, needs space when eating - Has only been in rescue ~1 month so still very shy, needs patience to be introduced to new things - Leash skills are a work in progress - Enjoys car rides - Very food motivated for training   To apply: info@greatdanefriends.com A fenced yard is required and giant breed experience. Ruby is being fostered in Charlotte NC*****Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love covers NC and surrounding states for adoptions. We require a fenced yard (exceptions made on a case by case basis - NO exceptions for puppies or deaf/vision impaired dogs - no invisible fencing), that stairs in the home be covered with some sort of slip resistant material to prevent injury, that all other animals in the home be up to date on vaccinations as well as spayed/neutered and that all dogs live inside as a part of the family. Our approval process consists of an application, vet and reference checks, phone interview and house check. Please email us for an application or if you have any questions.*****   March 27, 2025, 12:04 pm

Story
Meet George! George was adopted from Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love in 2021 and his family decided they wanted to build a new house and while it is being built they need to live in a camper and there was no room for George so they surrendered him back to us. George is now 8 yrs old and a super sweet boy but understandably is a little confused. But George is going to be just fine! George is being fostered in Asheville NC and will be available once he’s settled in and has a chance to decompress. *****Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love covers NC and surrounding states for adoptions. Story
UPDATE: Thor is a sweet three-year-old boy loves people and wants to be as close to you as he can. He enjoys daily walks and walks well on a leash. In just a few short months he has come a long way with leash walking. While walking he can get a little excited when he sees another dog, but he is easily corrected. I make him sit and tell him to wait and he is the most patient boy. He just loves everyone and everything! One of his favorite things to do is sit in front of a window and look out at the world around him. And he loves car rides, too. Thor loves playing with other dogs and would love to have a doggie brother or sister in his new home. Sometimes he acts nervously around other dogs at first, but this quickly dissipates and off he goes playing and running around. His foster brother can play rough, which Thor puts up with patiently and then lets him know when he has had enough. Now that it is getting warm out he likes to lay on the couch on the porch and gaze into the backyard…most of the time watching his foster brother roam the backyard. Thor loves that his foster mom works from home. He will do best in a home where his owners are not gone for long periods of time. And no crates, please. He does not like them and will not go in them. He needs to be in a home that will not crate him. He sleeps through the night on his dog bed next to his foster mom’s bed. As long as he is in the same room as you then he is content. Kids? Thor loves them! Especially kids who give him lots of pets and love. He recently stayed with a family who has a pet rat and he did well with her. Gently and calmly watching it and nuzzling it. Thor is extremely trustworthy in the house and is house trained. He has never gotten into anything he is not supposed to. His foster mom always gives him a treat before she leaves the house and this makes his day! He LOVES treats. He knows basic commands like sit and lay down and we are working on stay. He wants to be right by your side so staying is a little hard for him right now. He does get very excited when people enter the home but he calms down quickly. He just loves people that much. Thor was an owner surrender who was taken in by a concerned family who nursed him back to health. He is about good as dogs come and just wants to show you how much he loves you.     Thor is a sweet three-year-old boy loves people and wants to be as close to you as he can.
