Story
Lyla is 3 years old female Dane. She has been spayed and is up to date on vaccines and is HW negative.   Lyla is very smart and a very good listener for commands. She loves all humans and has never met a human that is a stranger. She likes to play fetch and run around in the yard. She does a great job of actually retrieving and dropping the toy at your feet. She has spurts of energy but then loves to take her long daily naps. She is house trained and great in the house.  She loves kids and is really good with cats. Lyla is better with female dogs rather than male. She has a medium sized female doggie friends she does very well with but both male dogs we tested her with she did not like.   Lyla is a Courtesy Posting... if interested in Lyla you can email us at info@greatdanefriends.com and we will but you in contact with the owner. *****Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love covers NC and surrounding states for adoptions. Story
Hi there! My name is Oscar. I am a 4 year old male Great Dane and Bull Terrier mix. I am neutered and up to date on all my vet care. I am a HUGE fan of long snuggles and snoozes on the couch. It doesn’t matter if there isn’t a spot next to you, I can fit right there next to you…or better yet, I’ll just sit on your lap. You don’t mind, right? I am really small at heart so don’t mind me. Besides lounging, I love play time! Frisbees are my favorite! I love to play catch with those! You just go on and try to throw it over my head and I will show you how high I can jump to get it. I love having toys so we can play together and I promise to always bring you my favorite one first thing in the morning so that we can share and get back to playing! I also love going for walks so I can smell all those new smells! I am great at going for walks because I know how not to pull, even if there is one of those pesky squirrels blocking the path. Walks far away are great too because I love car rides so I can stick my head out of the window and wave my ears and pretend to fly! I am not food aggressive and I do not jump on people because that’s not nice. I love and get along great with kids and other dogs, especially smaller ones because they are best for snuggles. I will always sit and patiently wait for my food and certainly treats! Oscar is being fostered in Winterville NC. Story
Meet Jackson! He is a 2 1/2-3 yr old stray, who was found hiding under a tree, on the side of a highway. He had no microchip & was weighed in at only 70lbs. He has been steadily gaining weight (97lbs now) & enjoys fresh foods added to his regular dog food. Nothing but the best for this boy! He also takes treats very gently & is learning basic commands. He would love a family who is willing to continue his training & work on his socialization. He loves praise & is attentive to learning. When he landed in rescue, he was scared of everything, even squeak toys. But he loves bones, a stuffed Kong, & some plush toys. Jackson is currently being fostered with a cat & does well...until the cat decides to be the Cat BOSS...causing him to retreat to safe quarters. He is not confrontational at all. Jackson does well with other dogs & is so cute when he play bows with them. He also rides in the car like a champ. And did you notice his Merle marking freckles on his muzzle & ears? So handsome!  Jackson is being fostered in Thomasville NC.  If interested in Jackson you can email us at info@greatdanefriends.com for an application. *****Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love covers NC and surrounding states for adoptions. Story
Meet Bob!He is a 18 month old neutered male Dane. Bob is such a special guy! Bob has survived a significant amount of trauma in his short life. His previous family's home was lost in a fire. Thankfully, all 4 of the family's dogs were able to get out alive. However, once in temporary housing, the family was no longer able to keep the dogs. The 3 little dogs were sent to a rescue, but Bob was left abandoned in the backyard after the fire. Bob was terrified when he was brought into rescue. Since being in his foster home, Bob has made huge strides coming out of his shell. He absolutely loves small dogs and cats. He's learning how to be with big dogs, as his foster home has dogs of all sizes, including another Great Dane. He enjoys car rides and rides calmly in the car. When first put on a leash, he melted onto the floor. He's learning how to walk on a leash with a lot of positive reinforcement, but it's something that does make him nervous. He's a love bug with so much life in him! He just needs someone patient to help him learn how to trust again! He would do well in a home with another confident dog to help guide him, but this isn't necessary for adoption. He is house trained and has lived with kids and was good with them. Since Bob has been through so much and needs to build some confidence we would recommend kids 8 yrs and up. He is being fostered in Asheville NC and will require a fenced yard. If interested in Bob you can email us at info@greatdanefriends.com for an application. *****Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love covers NC and surrounding states for adoptions. Story
Petey is the perfect first mate for anyone's shop! He loves people and has never met a dog or human he didn't like. He would be great as a single dog or as a pack.  He is pretty laid back and easy going, but loves being with his people. He does better out of his crate and patiently awaits your return when you leave. Your return is greeted with slobbery kisses and the iconic Dane lean. Petey came to us from a shelter where it was determined that he most likely was hit by a car.  He has a healed fracture of his pelvis and a dislocated hip.  Once in our care we got him into a specialist and he has a FHO surgery. Petey is doing so well healing from his FHO surgery. He takes his therapy in stride, eagerly trying new things and is building his strength and stamina daily. It is fun to see him act like a pup knowing he has had a bum hip for so long. His foster sister is excited to see him heal and loves being his training partner.   He loves balls and bouncing around like a goofy puppy. He crazily sleeps on his back , and has so much love to give to his forever family.  He rides great in the car and is good on leash. Petey is being fostered in Concord NC.
