Story
Bones is our Gentle Guardian with a Steady Soul”  Bones may sound like an unexpected name for a dog as strikingly handsome as this Great Pyrenees boy—but once you meet him, it fits perfectly. Bones has the kind of solid structure, steady presence, and dependable nature that makes you feel grounded just standing beside him. At just 11 months old and currently weighing about 60 pounds, he’s still a teenage pup—but his personality already carries the calm wisdom his breed is known for. Bones has a wonderfully peaceful demeanor. He’s the kind of dog who greets you at the door with quiet joy, offering comfort and companionship after a long day. There’s something incredibly reassuring about him—like a safe harbor wrapped in a fluffy white coat. He walks regally on leash, turning heads wherever he goes, and carries himself with confidence without being pushy or demanding. Despite a rough start in life—originally belonging to a homeless woman who left him in the care of friends—Bones has never let hardship shape his heart. Now safely with Critter Cavalry Rescue, he is neutered, fully vetted, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up to date on all vaccines and deworming. Bones truly is a friend to all. He does beautifully with dogs, cats, chickens, and people of every age. True to his Great Pyrenees roots, he is observant and watchful, naturally protective without being reactive. He is housebroken, knows basic commands, and enjoys a structured routine. A securely fenced yard is a must—Bones loves spending long hours outside soaking up good weather, playing independently or alongside other dogs. He’s also mastered the art of indoor relaxation and proudly holds top honors from “Couch Potato School.” We expect Bones to mature into a stunning 75–85 pound adult. He would thrive with a family or individual who understands the Great Pyrenees breed and welcomes him as a true member of the household—inside and out, every day.If you’re searching for a loyal, gentle, and enduring companion, Bones is waiting. Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you have the secure home and breed understanding this special boy deserves.       PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comDecember 25, 2025, 12:24 am

Story
Meet Sadie Smart. Curious. Already growing into her big-dog future Sadie was born September 2, 2025, and at just a few months old she is already reached 30 pounds, giving a very real preview of the strong, athletic large-breed dog she’s becoming. The first thing people notice about Sadie is her incredible ears—always alert, expressive, and impossible to miss. They perfectly match her curious, thoughtful personality. Sadie is a Great Dane–forward mix (Great Dane, Cane Corso, American Pit Bull Terrier, Siberian Husky/German Shepherd) and is expected to mature into a 60–80 lb adult. Sadie at a glance DOB: 9/2/2025 Current weight: ~30 lbs and growing Breed mix: Great Dane, Cane Corso, APBT, Husky/German Shepherd Expected adult size: Large (approx. 60–80 lbs) Energy: Puppy energy with a solid ability to settle Personality: Smart, curious, playful, sweet, and socially aware People: Friendly and appropriate with adults Children: Has met young children and did very well—curious, gentle, and respectful Dogs: Social and adaptable; reads cues well and adjusts play Cats: Untested Life with Sadie Sadie enjoys playtime, exploration, and learning new things—but she also knows how to rest. After activity, she settles nicely indoors and is comfortable relaxing on her own or in her crate. She’s already showing the kind of balance that experienced large-breed adopters value. She’s comfortable in a home environment, handles routine well, and continues to build confidence through normal puppy experiences. Training & manners Crate trained Nearly house-trained; goes to the door when she needs to potty (normal puppy supervision applies) Leash skills: Still learning, as expected; redirects well with a martingale collar or harness Car rides: Does well and settles on longer trips Cues she knows: sit, wait, no, off Working on: down, stay, and come Motivation: Enjoys treats and engagement; responds well to praise and interaction Social style Sadie approaches new people thoughtfully and politely. With other dogs, she shows good social awareness—matching energy and giving space when appropriate. She has done well meeting young children, showing curiosity and gentleness with appropriate supervision. She could thrive as an only dog or enjoy having canine companions. Sadie is being fostered in Anderson SC. If interested in adopting email us at info@greatdanefriends.com for an application. A fenced yard will be required so she has a safe place to run and romp and do all the puppy things! *****Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love covers NC and surrounding states for adoptions. Story
Meet Lucy, a beautiful 4-month-old Great Dane mix with long legs, a lean build, and a heart that’s just as big as she’s going to be! This Dane/Corso/American Pitbull/Husky girl is expected to grow into a very big dog—and she’s already showing off that classic Dane elegance paired with playful puppy energy. At home, Lucy is outgoing, curious, and always on the move. She loves to wrestle and explore with her brother, chase toys of every kind, and soak up attention from her people. She’s already house- and crate-trained and understands commands like “No” and “Leave it” (even if her puppy attention span means she needs a few reminders). Leash training is underway, and with consistency and patience, she’ll continue to blossom. Out in public, Lucy can be a bit shy and nervous, but she’s making steady progress as she gains confidence and experience. Once her energy runs out for the day, her true soft side shines—she turns into a total snuggle-bug who wants nothing more than to curl up beside you (or right in your lap) and soak in your love and approval. Her sweet, curious expression says it all: Lucy just wants to be your good girl. Lucy would thrive in a home with another playful dog to help her learn the ropes and burn off energy. A fenced yard is required so she has a safe space to run, romp, and be her joyful puppy self. Currently fostered in Pilot Mountain, NC Interested in adopting Lucy? Story
Hello GDFRL Fans – Chauncey here! Foster Mom has been quite remiss in providing any updates on me - she says sorry! I tried to type one up myself but the keyboard just wasn’t made for paws my size so all I managed was this – ;lp/asdvb fgdp;iÒÚ¿;lsedf – which isn’t too informative. A reminder of my back story - I came to GDFRL this summer from an SC shelter. I was originally found earlier this year with my muzzle tied shut. My owner paid the fine and took me home only to drive me out into the middle of nowhere earlier this summer, tie me to a tree, and abandon me. Foster Mom says besides the physical scars, I have some emotional scars from him. Car rides cause me some anxiety because I’m not 100% sure if I am going to be abandoned again and sometimes I have to use my big bark when strangers come around because I don’t know if they will be nice to me. FM says I don’t have to worry and she’s going to prove to me that most people are kind and they are going to love me and pet me and give me toys and treats. This really nice lady named Caitlin, who FM says is a wonderful trainer, is going to be working with us so I can meet all these nice people and become the bravest, bestest boy. At home, I have a foster sister who is a third of my size but boy is she tough. We like to wrestle and play and steal toys from each other. There’s kitties at my foster home too, but they get me a bit too excited so I’m not allowed to play with them. Foster Mom says my forever family probably shouldn’t include kitty siblings good for chasing or little pups – ‘cuz she says I’m clumsy and they’re squishable. I am an in-your-face, always by your side kind of guy, so I’m hoping my forever family understands their space is my space, too. FM says I’m also very verbal - what can I say - I have opinions and sometimes she is way slow on serving up dinner. I do try to be a good boy though, and practice my “sit and wait” while she’s mixing up my food. Foster Mom says that sometimes I get a little too mouthy with things, so I have my own room when mom is gone all day. I know what “go to your room” means and I will open the baby gate and run in there and wait for my good boy treat. I have been a naughty boy lately though ‘cuz the mattress is so nice to chew on and is more of a fun challenge than those easy-to-shred dog beds. Foster mom says I should be chewing on all my tug toys or my security jolly ball that I like to mouth – what can I say, it calms me! So here’s what me and foster mom think my perfect forever family would be: – One or two fur siblings to play with who are medium to large dogs. I’ve only met another dane through a fence, and he didn’t really like me, so I didn’t get to try to play with him. – A calmer home that is willing to keep working with me on meeting new people as I learn that I will be protected and people will be nice to me. – No little kids – I just don’t understand the difference between my 158 lbs and little kids a fraction of my size. I’ll want to play with them and mom thinks they will be squished. And the details: – Housetrained – Neutered and up-to-date on vaccine – Has been good with the medium-sized dogs he has met - male and female – No kitties - he is too interested in them and will give chase – Kids 12+ ***Chauncey is being fostered in Asheville NC. Story
Meet Linus — your future gentle giant in the making Linus is a 4 month old Great Dane mix ( Great Dane, Cane Corso, Pitbull, Husky) with a heart as big as the paws he’s growing into. While he’s still a little small for a Dane right now, don’t be fooled—those oversized feet promise an impressively handsome big dog in his future! This chill little dude has the perfect balance of laid-back and playful. He’s content entertaining himself, happily chewing on bones, squeaky toys, or ropes, but he’s also always up for a house-wide wrestling match with his sister. Toys of all kinds are his love language. Linus is already crate trained and house trained, and he’s learning how to walk on a leash. He’s curious, treat-motivated, and a quick learner, so with a little guidance and consistency from his new family, his leash manners will keep getting better. One of his favorite activities right now? Plowing joyfully through piles of leaves while practicing his on-leash skills In public, Linus can be a bit reserved, but with exposure and patience from his forever family, he’s expected to grow into a well-mannered, confident companion. He does great with other dogs and would also be happy as an only pet, soaking up all the love. What Linus needs: A loving forever home A fenced yard so he has a safe place to run, play, and explore A family excited to help a young pup continue learning and growing Location: Fostered in Pilot Mountain, NC Interested in adopting Linus? Email info@greatdanefriends.com to request an application. If you’re looking for a sweet, curious, and easygoing pup who’s going to grow into a truly special dog, Linus might just be your perfect match *****Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love covers NC and surrounding states for adoptions.
