Story
RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Meet Mars! Mars is a sweet Great Dane puppy that already weighs over 100lbs. He is a bit clumsy and seems to trip over his own feet without the help of anyone else. This gentle giant is great with kids, dogs, and cats. He likes to follow his human everywhere they go. He is working on his manners and housebreaking and does not like to be in a crate. His foster mom realized that he is a bit taller than her kitchen counters where he has tried to help himself. As a result, he has learned the commands no and leave it very fast. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 29, 2024, 12:44 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Meet Roman! Roman is a big boy. He has been moved around between homes and is ready to find his forever home! He is a little underweight now, so he will probably fill out a bit more. He does very well riding in the car. He is not crated during the day. He wants to play and jumps up, so with his size, at this time he should only be in a home with larger dogs and older children. Maybe that could change with training in the future. It would be ideal for him to have a fence or invisible fence. His foster mom has not seen any hint of aggression, he just wants to play hard. Roman likes to sleep in bed and cuddle. He even tries to sleep on his foster mom which doesn't work well with his size. He is fully housebroken. Roman is the perfect height to take food off of the counters, so his new family will need to be sure not to leave anything out. He has not been cat tested. If you're interested in adoption, the first step in our adoption process is to submit an online application from our website, www.dashanimalrescue.org Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 29, 2024, 12:44 am

Story
I was purchased from a backyard breeder and when my owners needed help and wanted to return me, she refused to take me back. I am not house trained, and I play too rough for a home with small children. My owners cared enough that they drove me over 2 hours to get to the rescue so that I can find the right forever home. Until then I have tons of toys to play with and as soon as I get some vaccinations I can play with the other dogs, until then I have cats to play with. Update 10/7: Great News I am NOW ready for adoption!!! Grandma says I get to pick who I want to live with, and I am going to be picky because I plan on living a very long and happy life!! Plus, Grandma said since I love laying on furniture so very much that I MUST be allowed on furniture and if you do not want a 150-pound dog laying on your furniture then I am NOT the Dane for you!! Please do not forget I am a puppy and I cannot hold it 8 hours, I will need to go potty during the day so someone MUST be home or able to come home for me! Interested in adopting me? I have a soft bed, tons of toys and I will be fed every few hours until I gain my weight.
