Story
RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.

Story
This is Henry. He is 3 years old and my soul dog. Unfortunately his anxiety is too much to handle around my young child and it’s cruel to him to be subjected to our home. He’s a very good boy, he’s house trained, a little sassy but knows basic commands. He’s clumsy, a bed bug and love to play fetch. Henry is very loved and deserves the world. Everyone who meets him adores him. Henry has a very sensitive tummy, so he can only eat a certain brand and flavor of dog food, and no dog treats. He loves produce as his treats (carrots, bell peppers, asparagus, strawberries, blueberries and bananas) and isn’t very food motivated. I trained him with ‘good boy’ and pets! He’s a bit weary of men, not always but especially if they are wearing hats. He’s too mouthy when playing so he’s not great with kids.

Story
Hello! This is Dobby. He is a 1.5 year old Great Dane. We acquired him through a neighbor who was fostering for a rescue. He was 4 months old and timid due to his unstable beginnings but has since come a long ways! We have yet to have a negative experience with him meeting new dogs. Dog park setting is best as he gets curious while on a leash and tends to want to run up to new ones. We don’t allow it as he is larger than most and don’t want to intimidate anyone. As a military family, our up-rooting and busy schedule has made me turn to this route of rehoming. On top of my homeschooling, our recent move drastically downsized our living space and Dobby’s quality of life has diminished. I would love a more stable home for him as our constant moving exasperates his anxious tendencies. He would do amazing in a stable, loving home. Dobby is as sweet and cuddly as they come and lives up to the nickname “gentle giant”. Dobby will come with all his things as well (bed, raised feeding bowl etc)

Story
Big, goofy guy that needs more room to play. Axel has a brother who is also a Great Dane and the two them play and things start to get wild. He is a very affectionate dog, very puppy still. He loves walks, chew bones, and peanut butter. His belly prefers grain-free food and needs lots of water. He likes to jump and play all the time.
