Roo is a 2–3 year old Blue Merle Great Dane adult who weighs 85 pounds and was found abandoned by a well-known lake in Tennessee. Someone rescued her from this terrible fate of no food or clean water and no place to be as she was wandering around the lake area very skinny and starved. She was so grateful when someone took her home. She then had different people foster her only for a few days at a time until this wonderful family saw her plight and need and said.....let us take her and foster her with a good rescue group. Now this big girl named Roo has some stability in her life and has earned the nickname “Velcro dog.” Of course this lost and abandoned girl who was deserted by a lake and then bounced a few times, wants to be right by your side and soak up every ounce of love and attention you’re willing to give her. She will learn one day that noone is ever going to abandon her again. This athletic girl has plenty of energy, loves to play with a happy spirit and and is an impressive olympic class jumper. She will thrive best in an active home. Food definitely motivates her and this makes it super easy to train her and get her undivided attention. Roo is house-trained, crate-trained, cat-friendly, and absolutely loves to snuggle in the bed with her humans. Roo bonds quickly and becomes very protective of her people so we will have tips on how to temper that zealous enthusiasm to claim you. She needs a family where she can be the queen of the castle and receive endless love and attention in return. Meet Cooper! He’s a 1 year old Great Dane/Pointer mix with the sweetest personality and the cutest goofy side. Cooper is friendly, affectionate, and loves being part of whatever you’re doing. He enjoys toys, chew bones, and hanging out with his people, but he also has a playful side and would love another dog to romp around with or a couple of walks each day to burn off some energy. He walks well on a leash and is doing great with both crate training and house training. Cooper gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and kids, making him an easy fit for many different kinds of families. He’s neutered, fully vaccinated, and ready to find a forever home of his own. 🐾 Heartworm negative.

Oakley came into rescue through a veterinary office. He was a under weight, neutered 5 1/2 yrs old who needed time to decompress. He is unknown to young children. However, he is good with children 11 years and up. He is having a great time playing with his new dog friend in his foster home. He has a big appetite, eats 3 times a day, and is one of the sweetest Danes you'll ever meet. He does have Addisons disease but this can be helped with a bit of prednisone. He also has pancreatic insufficiency, an enlarged heart, and Giardia but we are continuing to obtain medical services for him. He is not aware of his size so he will need direction when playing too rough. He will have a training contract as he loves to go for walks. However, if given enough lead he will pull you over. He is unknown with cats. If you're interested in a sweet Dane who loves walks and is a joy to be around, Oakley is your boy! Meet Hazel! Hazel is a stunning blue merle Great Dane, about 1 year old, who came to us after being surrendered to ACCT Philly when her owner felt she had gotten too big. The busy shelter environment was understandably overwhelming for this sensitive girl, so we were happy to give her a quieter place to land. Since arriving at the rescue, Hazel has been an absolute doll baby. Our volunteers have had no issues handling her, and she is incredibly sweet on walks, often leaning right into her people for pets and affection. She is housebroken, knows sit and paw, walks nicely on leash, and is an active young Dane who enjoys getting out and stretching those very long legs! In her previous home, Hazel could sometimes play a little rough with other pets, largely due to her size and enthusiasm. She was also uncomfortable with an elderly family member and could be unsure during introductions with unfamiliar people. Because of this, we feel Hazel will be most successful in a Great Dane or giant-breed experienced home that understands the importance of slow, positive introductions. At this time, we would also prefer a home without young children. Hazel is still young and has so much love to give. With an experienced family who understands big dogs and will help her continue building confidence, we think this gorgeous girl is going to make an incredibly loving companion.
