BONDED PAIR WITH LULU! PLEASE SEE LISTING FOR LULU! LULU AND DUKE MAY POTENTIALLY BE ADOPTED SEPARATELY, BUT IT IS PREFERRED THAT THEY ARE ADOPTED TOGETHER! Duke and Lulu are a bonded pair who came into rescue following the death of their owner and loss of their home. As expected after all the changes in their environment and family dynamic the past six months, they seek lots of attention. Both are affectionate, playful and eager to please and would do well in a structured environment with humans who can give them the time and attention they need. Duke seems to be the strong silent type – sitting back observing and taking his cues from Lulu. He warms up right away, while she needs a little time to get comfortable with new people. Both travel in the car extremely well, are crate trained, and have lived peacefully with several inside/outside cats. Their roommates/caretakers report they have high prey drive and do not like Chihuahuas. As far as exposure to children, they have only encountered a 12YO nephew a few times. They both listen considerably well, but could use general manners reinforcement and leash work. If you’re looking to add a pair of loveable, entertaining, in-your-face Danes to your family, then these two are for you! Stay tuned for updates. Please include your home area code and a phone number where a volunteer can reach you when contacting us about an adoption. DUKE UPDATE APRIL 2026 Duke has been moved to a NJ foster home and will begin treatment for heartworm, sadly Duke tested positive for Heartworm but not to worry, he will start treatment soon and then will be ready for adoption! Duke is a lovely boy, so friendly and a cuddle bug. He is being spoiled in his foster home until he starts the injections to kill the heartworms, then will have to go on crate rest. Fortunately, Duke is crate trained and learning to walk nicely on a leash. His first vet visit went well, he made lots of friends at his new vet office. Keep your eye on this one, once ready, Duke will be an amazing addition to any home. For more information on this dog and our adoption policies, visit MAGDRL at https://www.magdrl.org. She has adjusted so quickly it feels like she’s been here forever! She loves being near her people but loves being ON her people even more. While she’s polite about it, Lulu will want to know every detail of what you’re doing - no matter what you’re doing. Bathroom, cooking, gardening - Lulu is right next to you to observe. If you’re looking for a 100+ lb lap dog, look no further. She’s also great with young kids and cats. Lulu is working on her leash manners but is doing really well with that. Lulu is currently living with a toddler, special needs cat, dogs, chickens Quick Stats Good with dogs? ✅ Crate trained? ✅ Good with kids? ✅ Housebroken? ✅ Good with cats? ✅ Good with other animals? ✅ Personality Highlights Great with all dogs so far Seems to be good with young kids (currently lives with a 2.5 y/o boy) Seems to be good with cats as long as the cat is ok with being gently tormented Good with chickens. Chases for a second sometimes but otherwise ignores completely Things To Be Aware Of Showed slight food resource guarding the first night with one dog in the foster home. But hasn’t shown it again Did NOT show any resource guarding towards humans Does really, really well on a long lead. She’s thriving on a 20 ft lead. It avoids creating anymore trauma or aggressive behavior associated with the leash Will only finish her kibble if water is added Is not treat motivated AT ALL She was slightly wary of new people at the vet but this was to be expected. She warmed up quickly and the staff gave her lots of praise and cuddles. Lulu will start her heartworm treatment at the end of May, her adoption is on hold until her treatment is completed. Story
Oakley came into rescue through a veterinary office. He was a under weight, neutered 5 1/2 yrs old who needed time to decompress. He is unknown to young children. However, he is good with children 11 years and up. He is having a great time playing with his new dog friend in his foster home. He has a big appetite, eats 3 times a day, and is one of the sweetest Danes you'll ever meet. He does have Addisons disease but this can be helped with a bit of prednisone. He also has pancreatic insufficiency, an enlarged heart, and Giardia but we are continuing to obtain medical services for him. He is not aware of his size so he will need direction when playing too rough. He will have a training contract as he loves to go for walks. However, if given enough lead he will pull you over. He is unknown with cats. If you're interested in a sweet Dane who loves walks and is a joy to be around, Oakley is your boy! Please include your home area code and a phone number where a volunteer can reach you when contacting us about an adoption. Story
Roo is a 2–3 year old Blue Merle Great Dane adult who weighs 85 pounds and was found abandoned by a well-known lake in Tennessee.  Someone rescued her from this terrible fate of no food or clean water and no place to be as she was wandering around the lake area very skinny and starved.  She was so grateful when someone took her home.  She then had different people foster her only for a few days at a time until this wonderful family saw her plight and need and said.....let us take her and foster her with a good rescue group.  Now this big girl named Roo has some stability in her life and has earned the nickname “Velcro dog.”  Of course this lost and abandoned girl who was deserted by a lake and then bounced a few times, wants to be right by your side and soak up every ounce of love and attention you’re willing to give her.  She will learn one day that noone is ever going to abandon her again.  This athletic girl has plenty of energy, loves to play with a happy spirit and and is an impressive olympic class jumper. She will thrive best in an active home.  Food definitely motivates her and this makes it super easy to train her and get her undivided attention. Roo is house-trained, crate-trained, cat-friendly, and absolutely loves to snuggle in the bed with her humans.    Roo bonds quickly and becomes very protective of her people so we will have tips on how to temper that zealous enthusiasm to claim you. She needs a family where she can be the queen of the castle and receive endless love and attention in return. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will stick by you through everything, Roo is your girl!       Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.  She is currently fostered in Tennessee and can be adopted locally and also can transport to a loving family that is northeast of Tennessee.  We transport almost weekly on the weekends.       PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJune 3, 2026, 12:32 pm

Story
Thor is a one-year-old Great Dane and Lab mix weighing 71 pounds, and his story already reads like the opening scene of a movie. Found running loose through a Tennessee neighborhood, this big, beautiful boy was moments away from tragedy when fate—and a young dog lover—stepped in. Twice Thor ran in front of her car, and instead of driving on, she stopped, opened her door, and called to him. Without hesitation, Thor leapt into the back seat as if he knew his life was about to change. And it did.   With no collar and no microchip, Thor became part of Critter Cavalry Rescue and stayed with the very woman who saved him. From the moment he was safe, his true nature began to shine. Thor is strikingly handsome, with chiseled features and expressive ears that nearly stand straight up, giving him a regal, alert look—like a show dog who wandered off the Westminster runway and into a superhero origin story.   But don’t let the model looks fool you. Thor is pure joy wrapped in a giant puppy body. He tosses toys into the air, pounces on squeaky treasures, and delights in balls and stuffed animals with the enthusiasm of a dog who is still discovering how fun life can be. He doesn’t quite realize how big or strong he is yet, but his heart is gentle and his spirit is eager.   Thor is intelligent, focused, and deeply people-oriented. When you work with him, he locks onto you completely, especially if treats are involved, which makes training both effective and fun. He is wonderful with other dogs, showing no dominance or alpha behavior, just friendly curiosity and easygoing charm. Recently neutered, Thor is still growing and will likely fill out into a solid 90-pound adult over the next year.   He is housebroken and currently learning that being alone doesn’t mean being abandoned, as crates aren’t quite his favorite place. Thor simply loves people and wants to be near them, soaking in companionship and reassurance. His liver-and-black coat shifts with the sunlight, turning heads wherever he goes, and making him unforgettable long after he’s passed by.   Thor is the kind of dog who comes into your life once and leaves a permanent mark on your heart. He is waiting for someone to guide him, shape him, and grow with him into the extraordinary companion he is clearly meant to be.     If you are interested in making this big boy a big part of your life please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Tell us where you live, city and state.   We adopt to Tennessee where our rescue is based and he is being fostered, but we also transport to the Northeast   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 11, 2026, 12:09 am
