Big boy Beaux is a 107 lb Great Pyrenees/Lab mix. He is a 2 year old gentle giant that just wants constant attention. He is an owner surrender due to military relocation/deployment and his family wanted to make sure he found a good home and stayed out of a shelter. This guy has been around dogs big and small and can read the vibes. If they want to play, he will play while knowing his size and not being too rough. If they’d rather just exist next to him he’s fine with that too. Beaux has been staying with a foster cat that will walk right by him and he just sniffs at him. His previous family did say if a cat runs, he will chase it but just to play so make sure if you have a cat to do a proper introduction (our foster cat is so used to dogs he knows he’s the boss). Beaux loves to socialize and will make friends with everyone! He’s enjoyed several little league games where children of all ages have played with him. He will jump up to give “hugs” so he does need to learn manners. He walks very well on a leash with little to no tugging once he gets out of the house. He has had zero potty accidents and transitioned to life at his foster home very quickly. Beaux would love a family with children. He sleeps on the floor next to our 8 year old and enjoys the energy and attention kids give him. He enjoys other animals as well but I don’t think he’d mind being an only dog, but it would be good for him to socialize with doggie friends or at a dog park. He’s a chill guy that will give all the love to a family that has the room for him. Pictures do not fully show his size. All Pet Central Helps animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. Records are sent via email. Paper versions are available upon request. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile above. After we review your completed survey, we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sunday and Monday and will not be processing any applications on those days. Please get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH! adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH! cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). An adoption counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH! adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and/or a leash to pick up and their ID. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. Cats and kittens are required to leave in a pet carrier. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH! representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart – Bloomington, IL: Park in the PetSmart (1606 E. Empire St.) Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH! representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at the Cat’s Meow Cafe: Navigate to PetSmart, park in the parking lot and enter the store. Locate a PCH! Representative at our adoption table and let them know you are picking up a Cat Cafe Cat. You will sign your final contract with your counselor and snap a picture of the completed screen. Head to the Cat’s Meow Cafe at 507 N. Hershey Rd and provide them with the snapshot of your final contract. They will get your cat and take a “Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. PCH! supports a 30-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we cannot provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! When you first meet Beowulf, he may be a little shy for a moment as he takes everything in. Give him a minute, though, and his true personality shines through. Once he decides you're a friend, you're treated to the full Beowulf experience: happy tail wags, playful energy, and a silly side that keeps life entertaining. As a young dog, Beowulf is still full of enthusiasm and enjoys getting out to explore, play, and spend time with his people. He has a cheerful, happy-go-lucky outlook on life and seems to approach each day as a new adventure. Beowulf appears to be dog friendly, although he has not been formally tested with other dogs in our care. His easygoing demeanor suggests he may enjoy having canine friends.
