Story
Benji was purchased from an animal shelter in North Dakota while I was stationed at Minot Air Force base. Benji was the second dog in the family and was always loving and caring. We ended up getting a few more dogs once we returned back to the Ohio. I with some additional dogs he got a little overwhelmed. He travels very well and has been every from North Dakota to Alabama and up to Ohio.Benji is a protector. He is a window watcher. He barks when something is out of place. But he is a loving, caring dog. He has the Alpha Dog mentality. He gets along great with female dogs. Male dogs are kind of case by case but usually okay. I would love to keep him but unfortunately due to divorce and the family home being sold he can no longer be cared for.

✨Welcome back Kate McAllister — “Millie” ✨ Knows Millie and is a Great Pyrenees mix looking for her forever family!   This sweet girl was recently returned through no fault of her own after her previous owner was unable to keep her contained in the yard. Despite the change, Millie has remained loving, gentle, and ready for a fresh start.   A little shy at first — especially with men — but she warms up quickly and forms strong bonds once she feels safe.   Millie’s favorite things:   ✨ Kids   ✨ Cats   ✨ Cozy crate naps   ✨ Being near her people   She is:   ✔️ Crate trained   ✔️ Housebroken   ✔️ Good with kids   ✔️ Good with cats   ✔️ Sweet and affectionate   Millie is looking for a patient, loving home that understands large breed puppies and can give her the security, guidance, and safe outdoor setup she needs to thrive. She is medium/high energy and more of a temperament of a great pyr. She is about 45 pounds at this time, likely 60-70 pounds full grown.   If you’re looking for a loyal best friend with a gentle heart, Millie may be your perfect match.   Apply at adoptastray.com     I don't think she will be available for long!May 18, 2026, 12:38 pm

Story
Mater is a sweet guy who has very typical breed traits from his Great Pyrenees/Aussie Shepherd mix. Since a new home will be a big change for him and we want to be sure he settles and shows his family his best self we would recommend fostering to adopt for Mater. Mater came to his foster home after almost two years of being bounced around between various homes and boarding. He has also always used his size to get his way. In the past year we have worked with a professional trainer, established a routine and gotten Mater on medication to manage his anxiety (Fluoxetine). All of this has helped Mater be his best self. Mater also has some backup trazodone that he takes when foster mom knows his anxiety will be higher due to storms or fireworks. In his foster home Mater has learned that humans are in charge and he doesn't need to be the leader, sit and wait to be released for meals, how to relax and stay in place, that furniture is invitation only, and is working on re-crate training to learn crate is a safe space not punishment. Mater lives with two female dogs, a 45lb dominant female and a 75lb submissive female. He also does fine with my sister's 45lb male dog when they come to visit. Mater does sometimes resource guard toys. So, when my dominant female and Mater are together toys are put away. Other times he loves to play with toys and my submissive dog defers to his toy preferences so they play with toys well together. Mater does not like small dogs (under 15lbs) or cats. I also recently had a 27lb male puppy foster who caused Mater's anxiety to go through the roof. I think it was because this foster had no fear of Mater. He would literally run under Mater if Mater was in his way. Mater has done well when my sister has come over but does bark loudly at new people at first. He has done okay meeting people on a leash at adoption events. However, we would not recommend Mater be in a busy household with lots of visitors due to his anxiety Mater has made incredible strides in his foster home and is looking for his best fit family who will continue to support his progress. He is waiting for his perfect forever family to find him!March 7, 2026, 3:29 pm

Story
This lovable giant is ready to find his forever family! At around 3 years old and 120–130 pounds, this neutered boy is a big sweetheart with an even bigger heart. He has been raised in a home environment and is very much a house dog — not a livestock guardian dog — and he loves being part of the family. One of his favorite things in the world is kids! He absolutely adores them and has a gentle, easygoing personality to match. He also does well with other dogs and is mostly indifferent to cats. Despite his size, he’s not a big barker and has nice leash manners when out and about. He already knows several commands including sit, paw, and lay down, and he LOVES going for car rides. Whether it’s a quick trip for a pup cup or a family adventure, he’s always ready to hop in and go. A fenced yard where he can stretch his legs and play would be wonderful, but it’s not a requirement for the right home. More than anything, he’s looking for a family who will love him as much as he’ll love them. If you’re searching for a loyal, gentle, family-friendly companion, this handsome boy may be your perfect match!May 16, 2026, 9:44 pm

Story
Zuzu : a spunky name for a spunky gal! Zuzu is a 2 yo Great Pyrenees with a unique feature: a corkscrew tail! This very much epitomizes her upbeat and playful nature. Zuzu is HIGH energy, ready to engage in wrestling, tug, or zooming with any & every dog in your household! The only time she slows down & her tail uncorks is when she sleeps. Her past is a mystery. She was found as a stray in Hondo with evidence of sometime having had a litter of puppies. Her coat was a matted mess, so she had to be shaved. An abundance (if you know the breed you know ) of soft white fur is growing in. Great Pyrenees are fantastic family dogs, taking guardianship of their family seriously. Because of her go-go-go nature, Zuzu would do best in a home with a lively companion dog that will submit to her dominant nature. Also true to breed, although she understands basic commands, Zuzu weighs them & independently decides whether or not to follow them at any given time. Persistence, patience & acceptance of this gentle giant’s qualities are needed. She is a gorgeous good dog waiting for her “furever” home. Love and laughter are sure to follow her lively antics. Needs a companion dog due to her HIGH energy and active family best. Local adoption fee is $200(in TX)Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)
