My name is Harley and it comes from the Old English origin meaning 'Hare Meadow', which represents a peaceful and serene image. Just nothing like seeing a Pyr laying in the yard watching! Unfortunately my elderly owner is not able to care for me any longer but I'm trying not to let it get me down as I look for another family to adopt. Did you know that I came from royalty? The Pyrenees breed came from France where we made our way up from being a peasant farmers dog to the royal court being named the royal dog of France in 1675. Even Queen Victoria had a Pyr. We are strong willed and can sometimes be stubborn but more importantly we are affectionate, patient, confident, fearless and gentle. It is said that we wouldn't make a good breed for first timers but if you're aware of the negative traits (sometimes stubborn & lots of hair) along with the awesome good traits, we could definitely make it work. As a youngster at only around a year and a half old, I do have some basic obedience training, am well mannered, I don't jump up unless invited and have a sweet, loving warm nature that just adores getting 'good boys' from my people. I am a big boy of snowy white fluff. I will need several weekly brushings to keep my royal self tangle free and looking dapper and the vacuum will be an extension of your arm with me around but the reward of my adoring love for you will sooooo be worth it!! A couple of daily 45 minute walks a day should be enough to keep me happy. With that daily exercise in I can do quite well in town with a yard or in the country. I fall into the 3 G category which is Gorgeous, Gentle and Giant. Instinctively nurturing with the flock or family, we do make great family members. Just make sure the couch is big enough for sharing!!! My breed tend to love being with the family and are content to lay at or on your feet or curled up with you on that big enough couch. I'm here to adopt me a family and since you're reading this you must being missing something special in your life too, could it possibly be...ME?!!

And, 'Are You Gonna Go My Way', where you can be 'My Cab Driver' so we can run thru those 'Fields Of Joy'! Oh my, yep, what dreams are made of!! I'm an energetic youngster of only around 10 months but I have a very gentle soul that does very well with the other foster pups here at the rescue even the young puppies and the itty bitty little ones. Meet Magnolia, she is a 10 week old Great Pyrenees mix, although you could easily convince me she may be purebred. She came from a shelter in Kentucky. She has the typical double dew claws on her back feet. She's a big girl, and very smart, and loves to play in the water! She does well on car rides, and is working on potty training.  One thing she does not love is her crate, she does prefer to be outside most of the time, she does not wonder off. Her foster home is a farm, that has various livestock. She is great with the other dogs and doesn't bother the cats. She has met all the livestock and doesn't bark or try to chase them. Magnolia would do well in a similar environment where she can spend a lot of time outdoors. Don't get me wrong, she does like to come inside, especially at night. She sleeps in a dog bed in our bedroom. She does enjoy being with her people about as much as she enjoys being outside.   The adoption fee for puppies under 6 months of age is $250. If the puppy is too young or small to be fixed there will be a $75 spay/neuter rebate form provided.
