Story
THIS ANIMAL HAS AN ADOPTION HOLD* Meet Diamond! She has been described as energetic, playful, and loving! She is used to living outdoors and will need extra time to adjust to an indoor lifestyle. She had a brief stay in a home and was catching on to indoor life. She is still working on potty training but does best on a consistent routine. Diamond LOVES walks! She tends to pick her person and sticks close to them. She enjoys playing in the river. She can be a shoe thief if not given toys to chew. She does well on a leash but is still learning and will pull occasionally. She has not met other dogs but has been curious of dogs passing by. She lived with a cat and was very curious and wanted to play, but historically she does have a prey drive when it comes to outdoor critters. She has been around children around the ages of 5 years old and was shy at first then friendly and playful. She can get rowdy with kids but is eager to learn so consistent obedience training will help with this. All introductions should be slow and proper when bringing home new animals. Ask staff for tips! She has been known to resource guard her food with their littermates. She may need to be fed separately if her new home has resident dogs. *Adoption holds may be placed on available animals in person or by calling (320) 252-0896. An adoption hold reserves available animals for one day after the animal is ready to be adopted. More than one adoption hold may be placed on an available animal and will be honored in the order they were received. Adoption holds are $25 plus tax, are non-refundable, non-transferable and not applied toward the adoption fee. **Minnesota sales tax and an administrative fee ($20 for cats/dogs and $10 for small animals) will be applied to all adoptions. Donations and adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, microchipping, vaccinating, deworming, any medical procedures, and general care of all shelter animals. Story
Meet Ranger! He is a big boy looking for a big place to live. Ranger is accustomed to the rural lifestyle and would love to keep it that way! He spent some time living in the city but didn't adjust well due to all the sights and smells being a little overwhelming. He is used to having the space to run around outside. Ranger would do best with an experienced dog owner who is willing to work on his ever-expanding training. He already knows "fetch," "sit," "stay," and "lay down." But he's excited to continue his training as it provides him with enrichment and apt mental stimulation! Ranger can be nervous around new people and animals, so slow introductions are recommended. Ranger has met other dogs and did well with some and not with others. He has met cats and did well but can get a little too excited around them. He has never met kids. With every new animal - especially Ranger - slow and proper introductions to resident pets and children are highly recommended. Ask a TCHS staff member for more information on how to ease the transition! *Adoption holds may be placed on available animals in person or by calling (320) 252-0896. Story
Meet Oliver! He is a young man looking for a new start! Oliver is a very energetic and playful boy who would love to continue his active lifestyle. He can get overly excited pretty easily, so keeping him busy and entertained throughout the day can help keep his energy at a moderate level. Oliver could use more training as this will help keep him entertained and enriched properly while growing big and strong! He is crate-trained and will let you know when he needs to potty by whining. He loves chasing balls, playing with Kongs, and solving puzzles. As long as he stays busy, Oliver will be a good boy! Oliver has not lived with other animals in the past but did very well when meeting up with other dogs for play dates. He has not met cats. He has met children and did all right with them. Oliver doesn't quite understand how to behave around children, so additional training and proper introductions are highly recommended for Oliver. He gets a little too excited and has trouble containing himself! Slow and proper introductions to resident pets and children is always recommended when bringing home a new furry friend. Ask a TCHS staff member for tips on how to ease the transition. *Adoption holds may be placed on available animals in person or by calling (320) 252-0896.
