Story
Meet Minerva, a sweet 2 year old Great Pyrenees mix who loves to play and is a delight to be around. She`s incredibly smart, quickly picking up on commands and games. She enjoys her enrichment time and loves to spend time in the outdoors. While she adores people, she can be shy when first meeting you, and Minerva is best suited for a home without small children. Adopting Minerva means gaining a loyal and joyful companion who will bring endless fun and affection into your home. She`s ready to become a beloved part of your family!

Good with dogs, Needs experienced adopter, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
My boyfriend's dogs had puppies this year before he was able to get them fixed, and he has found homes for all the puppies except for one. I am reaching out to a bunch of local shelters, (as I know that most if not all of them are probably full) in hopes that one will have availability/an opening for a young female dog, as well as posting here. Blue heeler / great Pyrenees mix. She is under a year old. She is up to date on shots but not fixed. She is in heat for the first time and I'm scared she will get pregnant before we have time to get her fixed and rehomed. His female dogs are fixed now but not our male dog (her dad)

Story
Charlie is a sweet, playful Golden Pyrenees with an affectionate personality and a heart of gold. He was acquired on August 2, 2025 at 10 weeks old and has been well cared for. Charlie is crate trained, listens very well, neutered and up to date on shots. One of Charlies most endearing traits is that he loves to hug! He gently wraps his front legs around your arm while you pet him. It is incredibly heartwarming. He enjoys playing, engaging with people, and thrives on attention and companionship. Unfortunately, our family is no longer able to provide Charlie with the level of time and interaction he deserves. We want to place him in a home where he can truly thrive. Ideal home: a family or individual with time for daily play, attention, and bonding; preferably with space to play and an understanding of large-breed dogs. Charlie will do best where he is treated as a true family member. Our priority is a safe, loving, committed forever home.

Story
Dogs are usually tested with other dogs their size, and we encourage meet-and-greets with your dog before adoption. Cat tests are available if requested, but they only check for clear aggression. Always be careful when introducing dogs to cats. Advice about dogs living with children is based on behavior like energy level and how the dog handles touch. Young children should never be left alone with dogs, and we cannot guarantee how any dog will behave with kids or other pets. Behavior seen in the shelter is just a snapshot and may change in a home. Dogs come from many backgrounds and may need training, time, and patience. Dogs should not be fed together unless you know they do not guard food. We also suggest learning about a dog's breed or mix to be sure it fits your family. Moving to a new home can be stressful for dogs. Use the Rule of 3 to help them adjust: First 3 days: Dogs may feel scared, tired, overexcited, or not want to eat. First 3 weeks: Dogs start learning routines and may show new behaviors. Keep things calm and avoid busy places. First 3 months: Dogs usually feel settled and more comfortable. For more information, visit joplinhumane.org or contact the Joplin Humane Society in Joplin, Missouri at 417-623-3642. I AM SPONSORED! Thank you Salchow Law firm for sponsoring me!

Story
I am sponsored thank you to my anoymous sponsor for sponsoring the adoption ! Meet Johnny, a delightful Great Pyrenees mix with a heart full of joy. At the shelter, he's known for his sweet disposition and playful antics. Johnny loves to explore and can often be found sniffing around, discovering new smells and sights. He's energetic and always ready for a game or a walk, but he's also independent and content to sit by your side after a day's adventure. Johnny would make a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a loyal and loving friend to add joy and excitement to their life. I知 not a fan of cats, so I would prefer to live in a home without any. Dogs are usually tested with other dogs their size, and we encourage meet-and-greets with your dog before adoption. Story
Hi, I'm Luna Bear! I'm a 8 year old Great Pyrenese mix. I'm an older lady and have been in the shelter system for almost 3 years...I'm a lady of leisure and independence. I appreciate my own space, and while I may not be the life of the dog park, I offer a mellow companionship that's hard to find. I prefer a quiet home where I can relax and be myself. I'm not one for other dogs or cats, but I promise to fill your life with a unique kind of love. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2225509##
