Rufus is a sweet, anxious boy who struggles in busy kennel environments. After moving him to a quieter space, he settled in, stopped destroying his kennel, and was finally able to relax and sleep. This tells us Rufus does best in calm, low-traffic environments. Rufus needs a patient foster or adopter who will give him time to build trust. Once he feels safe, he is incredibly cuddly, goofy, and loving. He has been through a lot, and stability and consistency will make all the difference for him. Hi, I'm Luna Bear! I'm a 8 year old Great Pyrenese mix. I'm an older lady and have been in the shelter system for almost 3 years...I'm a lady of leisure and independence. I appreciate my own space, and while I may not be the life of the dog park, I offer a mellow companionship that's hard to find. I prefer a quiet home where I can relax and be myself. I'm not one for other dogs or cats, but I promise to fill your life with a unique kind of love. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2225509##

Brego is almost 5 years old and 105lbs. I need to find a new home for him asap. I have had him since he was a puppy. He is calm and mostly just enjoys being a big lazy dog. He has always got along with other dogs. He just went to the vet for a checkup and all is good. He is not fixed, but also not a requirement for me to rehome him. Oreo was a very very playful to other animals type of dogs she loved children and adults and whenever she seen me have a 😞 she would be right next to you. When I first got her in Ava she was five or six months old I have had her probably 2 months so she's probably about 7 or 8 probably estimately she is a a very beautiful bright dog what I'm looking for into a new home is someone who can have time to play with her give her more attention we have a very busy work schedule and I thought oh this is going to be awesome and I'll take care of her and I we took care of her for her needs but we never had time to play with her and she's very friendly to everyone she doesn't bite unless you're wrestling her and then she starts nibbling at you playfully I just want her to have the best life not a life alone where she can't have all the playfulness thank you for understanding.
