Story
My husband and I got him back in 2017 as a puppy, and his temperament is the absolute best. He is easy going stays close by, loves children and is well behaved. We loved his easy going attitude towards anything. If you want to meet him don't hesitate. He is the best dog ever. We are having to rehome him due to moving and the next place isn't ideal for a dog his size and need him to find a loving home.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Everest is a gentle soul who thinks he’s a lap dog — he hasn't quite realized just how big he is! At around 5 years old, this big sweetheart is laid-back, affectionate, and incredibly people-oriented. He adores human attention and would happily spend the day snuggled up with his people. Everest has never met a stranger. He’s friendly with everyone he meets! In his foster home, he’s done wonderfully with four playful puppies, showing patience and calmness beyond compare. While Everest is mostly chill, he does enjoy short bursts of playtime and can often be found doing joyful zoomies in the yard. It’s a brief but adorable reminder of his goofy, playful side. Due to his breed, (Pyrs, love to roam) he will require a fenced in yard (physical fencing attached to the home).  Because of his size, we recommend a home with children 10 and up, simply to prevent any accidental knock-overs. He’s never rough — just a bit of a lovable goof! Everest thrives on companionship and would do best with a family that isn't away for long hours each day. He loves being with his people and would be happiest in a home where he can be near them as much as possible. While he gets along well with other dogs, Everest would also be perfectly content as your one-and-only pet. He is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vaccinationsClick here to watch a video of Everest.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 18, 2025, 1:17 pm

Story
My name is Teddy and I came to the shelter in rough shape - I was underweight, lethargic, and with bad skin. However, I have made a dramatic turn around in the last week with the help of the vet team. I am an older dog with some orthopedic issues (I am on long term pain meds and joint supplements) but otherwise happy and healthy. I am friendly and I want a loving home where I can thrive. Won`t you help me? Come meet me today!Foster notes on Teddy:`It took him a bit, but he warmed up to us! He did not like the car, super scared of getting in and out. We went on a little hike and he got a little pep in his step! He liked the hike, especially the sniffing! We hung out iindoors where he encountered little dog and cat and was so good with them. He is super chill! I bet he would be lovely with kids, and a perfect dog for someone laid back.`

Story
Hello! I arrived at the shelter as a stray so not much is known about my history. I`m clearly very beautiful and fluffy! I am also sweet and I love it when people come to visit me. I have heartworms and staff can provide more information about my treatment if you are interested in adopting me. In North Carolina, it`s unfortunately common to see many dogs that are infected with heartworms (they are transmitted by mosquito bites). Heartworm disease may cause severe lung disease, heart failure, or other organ damage in dogs. It`s usually fatal if left untreated. Heartworm treatment is costly. With your support, OCAS can help more dogs with this disease - resulting in healthier dogs that are even more likely to get adopted. Please consider donating to our GoFundMe campaign.
