Story
Teddy is a friendly, devoted companion who enjoys hanging out with his human and dog friends. He loves visitors and kids! At around seven years old, he has energy to run around the yard and is equally content to relax and spend time with people around the house. He enjoys going for walks and will occasionally get the zoomies on leash. Although he’s a big dog, he’s not looking to make trouble and will settle down when asked. He may pause and watch other dogs or people as they approach, but he is not reactive. Teddy enjoys spending time in a fenced yard. Occasionally he will bark—not aggressively, but more as an announcement, likely channeling his Great Pyrenees livestock-guarding instincts. Teddy is becoming reliably house-trained and does need to go out every few hours to pee during the day. Overnight, he reliably sleeps for about eight hours. A tall guy, he may sniff to see what’s on a table or counter, but he responds well to redirection and will leave things alone when told. Teddy came to IAR from a local shelter, where he'd been picked up as a stray. He's neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and current on vaccines and preventatives. Teddy is ready for a person or family to welcome him and give him the chance to show his devotion.

Story
Cato (Latin for wisdom) is a sweet, laid back, and protective dog. He loves walking, playing, and being pet! He's so very sweet! He spent his first two years on a farm with lots to chase and investigate. He's recently joined us in the suburbs, and has done well, even with a smaller backyard and sidewalk walking. He's friendly and well loved by our neighbors and children. He behaves well and came to us well trained. We're hoping he can find a loving family (and a farm setting would be ideal)! We love Cato and have enjoyed his sweet and affectionate personality, but we have more travel than we anticipated, and we do not have as much space as Cato would like. We could not have asked for a better dog!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Velma had a rough start in life, but don’t let that fool you — this girl is happy, sweet, and full of love. She’s discovering the comfort of living inside a home, and she’s soaking it all in. While she can be unsure at first, her gentle nature shines through quickly. At just 4.5 months old, Velma has plenty of puppy energy and would thrive with an active family. She has always felt more comfortable with dogs than humans, so she’ll do best in a home with at least one friendly canine companion to help her continue building confidence. Because she is part Great Pyrenees, Velma requires a securely fenced yard that is physically attached to the home. Velma already weighs 41 pounds and is expected to grow into a true giant — likely over 100 pounds as an adult. Giant‑breed lovers only for this girl. She’s working hard on house manners and potty training, but due to her future size and enthusiasm, she is not suited for homes with children under 8. She loves being part of a pack, does well with other dogs and older kids, and requires regular grooming. Velma is up to date on vaccinations, will be microchipped before adoption, and will be spayed when age‑appropriate.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 18, 2026, 2:12 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Daphne is a 4.5‑month‑old puppy who’s learning what love and indoor life are all about. She starts off shy but warms up quickly once she feels safe. She’s energetic, playful, and happiest when she has another dog by her side — she’s had far better experiences with dogs than humans so far. Due to her breed, she’ll need a securely fenced-in yard, a fence that is attached to the home for her to run and play safely.  Already 35 pounds, Daphne is expected to grow into a 100‑pound giant, so giant‑breed fans, this girl is for you. She’s working on house manners and potty training, and because of her future size, she needs a home with no kids under 8. Daphne loves being part of a pack, does great with other dogs and older kids, and requires regular grooming. She’s vaccinated, will be microchipped before adoption, and will be spayed when she’s old enough. This sweet, hopeful girl is ready for a family who will help her continue to grow in confidenceVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 18, 2026, 2:12 pm

Story
Meet Albania Joy - affectionately known as Bear (a.k.a. your personal 70-lb security system with fur) Bear looks like the approachable golden boy of the dog park, but don’t be fooled — he’s running a strictly members-only club. Bear is a guardian breed, which means he takes his job very seriously. Strangers? Suspicious. Random visitors? Hard pass. Door-to-door salespeople? Absolutely not. He is significantly more effective than a “No Soliciting” sign and much fluffier than a security camera. But here’s the twist: once Bear decides you’re one of his people, he becomes a completely different dog. Suddenly this intimidating house protector turns into a goof, belly-rub addict, toy enthusiast, and giant cuddle bug who thinks 70 pounds is an appropriate lap size. Bear’s personality highlights include: ● Professional house security guard ● Belly rub connoisseur ● Suspicious of strangers but a total mush with his people ● Very smart and ready to learn Important note from Bear’s HR department: Crates are a hard no. Bear is claustrophobic and will absolutely not be participating in any “tiny room with bars” activities. He prefers free-roaming or being contained in a room like the respected security professional he is. A fenced yard to patrol is just a part of the job. Because Bear takes his guardian duties seriously, he’s looking for a low-traffic, adults-only home (teenagers okay) that understands guardian breeds. Think “peaceful home with a loyal protector,” not “open house with a revolving door of visitors.” In summary: Bear is not here to be everybody’s friend. He’s here to be your fiercely loyal, toy-loving, belly-rub-demanding best friend… and your extremely effective home security system.
