Story
Lucy is a beautiful Great Pyrenees who absolutely loves kids and does great with other dogs. She currently lives with both a dog and a cat and gets along well with both, so she would do great in a multi-pet home. She has a calm, loving personality but still enjoys playtime and being part of the family. Lucy loves all the human cuddles she can get and will happily soak up every bit of attention and affection you give her 🤍 The only thing to note is that she gets anxious during car rides, so she would do best in a home where travel is minimal or with someone willing to help her feel more comfortable over time. It breaks my heart to rehome her, but I want her to have the loving home and attention she truly deserves. I’m looking for a family who will cherish her, keep her safe, and love her as much as we do 🤍

Story
Meet Elowen, a beautiful 9-month-old Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix with a gentle spirit and a heart full of love. Weighing in at 45 lbs, she still has a bit of growing to do and is blossoming into a wonderful companion. Elowen is as sweet as they come—affectionate, loving, and happiest when she’s near her people. She gets along great with other dogs and truly enjoys playtime, especially when toys are involved. Whether she’s happily entertaining herself with a favorite toy or joining in play with her canine friends, her joyful personality shines through. She is both house trained and crate trained, making her an easy addition to a home ready for a young dog. Elowen is eager to please and continues to grow into a loyal, devoted companion. Elowen does have markers for Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI), a condition that affects digestion. She will require a powdered enzyme added to her meals—possibly for life—to help her properly absorb nutrients. With this simple management, dogs with EPI can live happy, healthy lives, and Elowen is no exception. If you’re looking for a loving, playful, and gentle pup who will thrive with a little extra care, Elowen may be your perfect match. If you are interested in adopting Elowen, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age.   **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. **May 15, 2026, 5:50 pm

Story
Meet Ben, who is four. Ben came to us extremely emaciated, in pretty bad shape weighing only 39 lbs. ( he is now 85 lbs.) . His human had tried and tried to get him to gain weight, get healthy but with no success. We got him, had several tests run, noticed how fast he ate his food. We put him on a special ID diet, started using slow feeder bowls, and fed him small meals several times a day. After many many tests, much medication, and special food, he started to gain weight. He has now gotten adjusted to regular food. He may always need a bowl to slow down his eating but he looks great and is a happy boy. Ben is good with other dogs. He is a little dominant but does well with both male and female dogs. He did have a quick encounter with a cat, but not long enough to say 100 percent, but he did not do anything but sniff the kitty. We would recommend no small kids only because of Ben's size and we are still working on getting him not to jump up and hug you. While it looks sweet, he could knock someone down accidentally. If you think Ben may be your boy, please read on and fill out the on line application. RECOMMENDATIONS & PROCEDURES Please note, the following are recommendations for puppies and different breeds of dogs. We will evaluate each application on an individual basis to see what is best for the dog/puppy and the potential adopter. Puppies are very fragile and not toys. We recommend children be at least six years old to be considered to adopt a puppy. Small breed dogs ( such as chihuahuas, yorkies, shih tzus , etc) we recommend children be at least eight years old. Herding, working breeds we recommend children to be at least 12 years old. Again these are recommendations. Adoption Procedures: We will travel up to two hours ( one way) to do physical home visits and we do not do virtual home visits. ( we are in Cleveland County NC) Most of our dogs come from bad situations and we want to know where their forever home is going to be. While we do not require fencing on all dogs, certain dogs that need a fenced in yard, will not be adopted unless potential adopter has one. We also adopt some dogs to people who live in apartments ( as long as the landlord approves) but not all dogs. We do not adopt to anyone under 21 years of age. We also do not feel college students are the best fit for most of our dogs. Most of our dogs again, come from bad situations and need lots of attention. Most college students have financial responsibilities and we feel need to be focused on school. Our goal is to match the dog with a family that fits the dog’s needs. We are solely focused on what is best for each dog in our rescue. These dogs have had enough moving around, dumped out like trash, and we want to ensure they find their forever home. We do require you sign a contract and if at any time you cannot continue to provide for the dog, the dog comes back to the rescue. Your first step to adoption is filling our our on line application. You will then get an automated email stating we got your application Next our adoption coordinator will be in touch either by phone or email If your references check out, a home visit will be scheduled. After the home visit is done, a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in and/or any other available dogs we have will be scheduled If the dog and you are a match, contract will be signed and you may take your new family member home. Story
Miss Aurora is incredibly shy as she came to CARE as a non socialized dog. She loves being outside and would do well in a quiet home with another dog to play with. She loves for someone to talk to her & to walk thru the yard with but prefers to not be petted. Once she gets in the car, she enjoys a car ride. She also does well with mobile grooming. She sleeps inside in her crate but prefers that no other animals come into it. Other than not wanting to share her crate she loves dogs & puppies! Tends to ignore the indoor cat. A fenced yard is a must as well as breed experience. The ideal adopter would also have experience with non socialized dogs.

Story
Meet Aurora — A Gentle Soul Ready to Bloom Born on December 24, 2023, Aurora came to Clifford’s Army Rescue after being hit by a vehicle and needing surgery on her back leg. Thanks to expert care and lots of love, she’s now healthy, healed, and ready for her next chapter. Fully vaccinated, spayed & microchipped. Heartworm negative and on all preventives. Aurora likely spent most of her early life outdoors, so she’s still learning how to trust and connect. She’s not a social butterfly—yet—but she’s making progress every day. She’s super sweet, crate trained, and finds comfort in her crate as her safe space. With patience and love, she’ll continue to blossom into the companion she’s meant to be. Aurora doesn’t need perfection—she needs someone willing to grow with her. If you’re looking for a quiet, loving pup who just needs a little time to shine, Aurora might be your perfect match. Ready to meet her? Fill out our online adoption application and help Aurora find the home she’s been waiting for. Story
Hello, my name is Isa ( E-Sah )! I am 1 year and 3 months as of April. I spent the first part of my life living outside, but now I feel much happier indoors. I am currently staying with kind foster parents and genuinely hope to find a loving forever home. I adore cuddles and playing, and I would thrive in a home with a big yard where I can run and enjoy myself. I get along well with my foster parents' dog, and we play. I can be protective with new people/dogs, but once I smell you, everything is okay! I am crate-trained and house-trained. I do need help with leash training. I know basic commands but am a fast learner. Please just be patient with me, I am a lovely, silly, loving girl.
