Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application Keep Calm and rub my belly is Bunny's motto!   Bunny is a 4-5 year old Great Pyrenees from Asheville NC. She is a Jetsetter, shedder, and best momma ever. She will throw herself in front of you for belly rubs and you will laugh out loud.  It is impossible to look at Bunny and be sad or mad. Her beautiful soulful eyes will melt your heart and command you to rub her belly and be happy! She is sweet and loves the indoors unlike her ancestors. Storms are not Bunny's favorite as she has seen some scary ones.    Bunny is a favorite at the vet’s office, her foster mom’s office and even the groomer! She is loved anywhere she goes. Bunny is sweeter than cotton candy and ready to live her DIVA life after motherhood.    Raising 10 fabulous babies was fun but, Bunny is ready to move on and be your sweet companion. Bunny's bark is even sweet sounding. She does enjoy letting everyone around her know she is on the job! Bunny can be left alone with out getting into any trouble and has never had any accidents in the house.    Bunny does really well with meeting other dogs! At her fosterer's office and the pet store,  etc., she is kind of a diva and is un-interested after the initial meeting. She would love to PLAY once she had the opportunity and intros to an area she is not “in charge of” (like her half of the foster home).   Click here to watch a video of Bunny.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Meet Jazzy – A Gentle Soul Ready for Love! 💕 Jazzy is a beautiful 1–2-year-old Great Pyrenees / Cattle Dog mix — or at least that’s our best guess! With her soft, soulful eyes and sweet nature, she’s sure to steal your heart. Jazzy came to the rescue as a devoted mama to her three puppies, who have all found their forever homes. Now, it’s her turn to shine and find the loving home she truly deserves. On the shy side at first, Jazzy warms up beautifully once she feels safe and connected to her people. She’s a gentle, affectionate companion who enjoys being close to those she trusts. Jazzy is great with kids, gets along well with other dogs, and seems to be okay with cats too — making her a wonderful addition to many types of families. She’s spayed, up to date on vaccines and preventions, and ready to start this next chapter of her life. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal, and gentle dog to welcome into your home, Jazzy might just be your perfect match. **WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Jewel. I'm about 5 years old and I weigh about 100 lbs. I was picked up by the pound after my owner was arrested and put in federal custody. He really hadn't been properly caring for me anyhow, but for a while when he was on the run, I was brought an occasional bag of dog food that he would cut open and leave for me to eat. When I was brought in, it was evident that I hadn't been cared for properly for quite some time, if ever. I was severely matted and very dirty. I also had entropion, which I've now had surgery for. After I begin to heal, I am going to feel so much better! I was also groomed and I look so beautiful and feel so soft now! I was pretty good for the entire process, including being extremely patient during de-matting. I hated the bath, but I wasn't mean at all. I just kept trying to escape. I did great for blow drying as well. I have done great around all of the other dogs I've met here at the pound and I even did well with the cats in the office. I do a pretty good job of keeping my kennel clean, but I will need a family that can work with me on potty training and teaching me basic obedience and such. If you're looking for a sweet pyr to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable.
