Story
Joy is the perfect name for this sweet girl: her beauty alone is sure to make your heart sing!   Joy is so lovely, with apricot markings against a background of sleek, white fur. Her ears, like silky flower petals, are irresistible.   In foster care, within a few short days, Joy mastered potty training (with no accidents!), even in the face of extreme cold and snow. Stairs were also a cinch for this bright girl and she can go up and down like a champ. Joy also fit right into the household pack, following her foster brothers’ lead as they explored the mysteries of the great indoors and sought out whatever excitement they could find. If treats are involved, so much the better!   Joy is new to foster care and just beginning to learn the pleasures of being in a family. She is shy and cautious, but within days of arriving in her foster home already started feeling a little more comfortable. While Joy still prefers to be approached very slowly and indirectly, when relaxing on her bed, she is beginning to welcome ear rubs and soft petting from her foster mom. She loves wearing her warm coat. Patience, gentleness, and kindness are qualities Joy most appreciates in humans.    The lucky person who adopts Joy will have the pleasure of helping her gain confidence and watching her blossom. While Joy’s beauty will make your heart sing, seeing her come into her own as a dog will make it soar.    We adopt within 1 1/2 hours of Kansas City. January 29, 2026, 11:17 am

Story
"I may be a senior pup, but I like to think of myself as a senior in high school—60 pounds, so handsome and young-looking! I have the softest brown eyes and best ears, especially when I’m trying to figure out a new sound. After 10 years, I’m just learning how to be a dog, but I think I’ve got the hang of it now! Toys and bones have become some of my favorite things along with lots of love. I know how to play fetch with my plush toys…but I’m only good for about 10min (true greyhound fashion!) I nap most of the day but if you say “Walk!”, I’m your guy and get so excited to go exploring! I don’t mind 1-2 miles, piece of cake. Speaking of treats, yes please!! I’m extra gentle when you give me one. Since I came to KC REGAP, I’ve learned that humans are actually really nice and now I love to meet new people; I get so excited!    I'm a special needs guy looking for experienced dog owners who will pick up on my verbal and visual cues. Lucky for me being in a foster home since coming to KC REGAP, I’ve learned my human’s verbal cues as well. I am not sure about other dogs along the sidewalk, and I definitely don’t do well with small dogs or cats. My foster mom says I would do best with a privacy fence and as an only dog! In the backyard, you won’t find me doing zoomies just yet; I haven’t quite figured that out. However, I have discovered my voice and love to let you hear it when I get excited or am ready to play!   My ideal household would be one with older human siblings (teenage+) or adults. Patience is key with me as I learn to trust you; but I will lean in real hard (almost knocking you over) as I show you lots of love and attention!" We adopt within 1 1/2 hours of Kansas City.  Please feel free to complete your application on our website KCREGAP.orgFebruary 18, 2025, 8:22 pm

Story
Rhett is my name; being lazy is my game! After almost 8 years I’m relaxing in a home for the first time in my life. It’s wonderful! I LOVE my kennel and sleep in it during the day when my foster mom is at work. I also sleep in the kennel at night but with the door open, just in case I need to check on mom during the night. As much as I love my kennel, I’m slowly spending more time outside of it, learning about being social and playing with toys. I look forward to my walks very much and am learning how to walk on a leash like a gentleman. My life was a bit rough before I came to my foster home and its causes me to be growly around other dogs. I love all the humans, though, and they all say I’m sweet as can be.  My perfect forever home would have people that can be patient with me as I learn about this new life and gain some confidence.     We adopt within 1 1/2 hours from KansasCity.    January 24, 2026, 11:32 pm

Story
Dewey is a gentle giant, who loves both humans and his fur-sibling. Despite his impressive size, Dewey treads lightly in the world. He very rarely barks and makes his needs known quietly, walking to a door when he wants to go potty, entering the kitchen when he’s hungry, gazing soulfully into human eyes or mewling softly when he’d like some love.    During his time in foster care, Dewey has never had an accident, raided a trash can, stolen a fur-sibling’s toy, or destroyed a single item of human property. He’s a quick learner and mastered stairs in no time. He may have even set a new record for learning to follow the house rules.   Dewey is an older gent, which may help to explain his especially calm and gentle demeanor.  Dewey loves the comforts of soft beds, warm blankets, tasty food, ear rubs, and good companionship. He often shows his gratitude for such things with deep sighs of contentment. Dewey also loves going for walks, where he can be captivated by the sights and smells he encounters. When meeting a passerby, he will often lift his eyes to theirs, and almost always elicits a smile, a pat, and some kind words. He brings out the good in those he meets and gives them an occasion to smile.   Dewey has soft, fawn colored fur and big brown eyes. He weighs eight-five pounds. Dewey can be an only dog or live with canine companions and will need a home without cats.    If you want a sweet, gentle, affectionate, smart, and loving companion, Dewey just might be the one!   We adopt within 1 1/2 hours of Kansas City.January 22, 2026, 2:27 pm

Story
The name Glory is of Latin origin, meaning “to shine” or “to be bright.” How appropriate for this lovely, lively Greyhound! With her glossy black fur, Glory is certainly shiny and bright on the outside. But her true radiance comes from within. Glory loves life, and it shows. Glory is an early riser, excited to see what each new day may have in store. She actually “smiles” when she’s happy-and this is a very happy girl! Glory is captivated by plush toys, especially if they make intriguing squeaky sounds. She also enjoys expressing her creative side, which has found an outlet in “interior decorating.” Fortunately, no demolition is involved, just artfully rearranging pillows and throws from couches. In quieter moments, Glory relaxes by watching tv. Her ears perk up (quite adorably) when she hears a cat character purring. Glory is a true food enthusiast, and always appreciates whatever “the chef” serves. Seemingly health minded, Glory has a special fondness for fruits and vegetables. She does not guard her food from canine housemates, but is not above stealing treats when the temptation becomes too great. This bright girl is a fast learner and she wants to please. She already knows that counter surfing is not allowed and is working to overcome some separation anxiety and a fear of especially loud city noises. Glory still has a bit of the puppy in her, which shines through as she discovers the pleasures of being a family member. Glory exudes love and seeks affection. She especially appreciates a good tummy rub, but welcomes all forms of kindness, generosity, and connection. Are you seeking more of the shiny and bright in your life? If so, Glory may be the girl for you. We adopt within 1 1/2 hours of Kansas City.February 5, 2026, 6:35 pm
