Story
Meet Kodabear 🐾 Kodabear is a sweet “COVID puppy” who grew up primarily indoors, so the big world can feel a little overwhelming at first. He’s naturally shy and may come across as vocal or cautious when meeting new people or animals- he tends to bark and may nip at ankles until he feels safe. But give him time and patience, and you’ll see his true personality shine. Once Kodabear warms up, he becomes incredibly affectionate, loyal, and loves to cuddle with his person. He forms strong bonds and is very protective of those he trusts. He can coexist with other animals, but slow introductions are key, as he needs extra time to adjust. Kodabear would do best with an experienced, patient adopter (w/o other animals/children preferred, but can live with other animals/children) who can help him build confidence and continue working on socialization and training. With the right home, Kodabear has so much love to give and will make a devoted companion. 🖤

Story
Meet Teddy Bear – A Smart, Loving Boy Looking for the Right Match Teddy Bear is a one-and-a-half-year-old Havanese with a heart full of love and a personality that’s impossible not to adore. He loves nothing more than being close to his people, whether that’s snuggling on the couch, going for a walk, or soaking up belly rubs and scratches behind his ears and shoulders. He has the perfect balance of playful puppy moments and relaxed cuddle time, making him a wonderful companion. This handsome boy is already house trained and knows an impressive list of commands, including sit, down, up, shake, high five, come, stay, and drop it. He’s eager to please, incredibly intelligent, and enjoys learning—especially when treats are involved. (A little cheese goes a long way with Teddy Bear!) Teddy Bear is looking for an adopter who understands that he does have some resource-guarding behaviors that will require thoughtful management. He has done very well with positive reinforcement, trading games, and respecting his communication, and he has already shown that he responds wonderfully to these techniques. With an experienced, patient family that understands his needs, Teddy Bear has every opportunity to continue thriving. Because of this, Teddy Bear would do best in a calm home with children age 13 or older who can understand and respect his boundaries. He would also thrive with adults who are committed to continuing the positive training and management strategies that have already been working so well for him. In the right environment, Teddy Bear has every opportunity to succeed. Despite this challenge, Teddy Bear is, at his core, an incredibly affectionate dog. He wants to be close to his people, loves being told what a good boy he is, and forms deep bonds with those he trusts. He has lived peacefully around other dogs, though any potential canine companions should be introduced thoughtfully to ensure they’re a good match. Teddy Bear isn’t looking for a perfect family—he’s looking for the right family. One that sees beyond his challenges and recognizes the loyal, intelligent, loving companion waiting underneath. With understanding, patience, and kindness, Teddy Bear has everything it takes to become someone’s very best friend. 📍 Available for adoption at our Dogsville location in Humansville, MO 🖱 Apply to adopt at www.nmdr.org (select Missouri) ------ Many NMDR dogs have had limited prior socialization and may need time, patience, and support as they adjust to home life. Skills such as house training, leash walking, and handling may require continued practice. Progress will vary by individual dog. Homes with older children are often a good fit, depending on temperament. To learn more about NMDR and our adoption process, please visit our website.

Story
We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see a beautiful young dog that desperately needs our help. Carmel was one of these dogs that deserved our assistance out of a high-kill shelter due to her excellent temperament and all the love she'll bring to a loving family, This sweet as can be Shih Tzu / Havanese mix will be transporting to Colorado in just a few days. Farfel's Rescue is searching for a special family that would love to bring Carmel into their dog-crazy Colorado home. There's no question that she'll quickly become the love of their lives. Carmel's Rescuer had the following to say about our sweet girl: This sweet pup is awesome! Carmel is gaining confidence and her sweet personality is coming out every day. She is so friendly, playful, and absolutely gorgeous! Carmel, once over her initial shyness, is a very happy-go-lucky and friendly dog. Her tail is i like a helicopter..always wagging with a smile on her darling face. She's just a love that gets more wonderful every day. Carmel is a perfect size and weight to accompany her family just about everywhere a sweet smaller dog is welcome. She'll fit right into virtually every situation due to her excellent temperament, sweetness and engaging nature. Our dream for this very loving pup is a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes her for life. As Carmel becomes more and more comfortable in her forever home, she'll blossom and become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier her family is with her behavior, the more Carmel will shine with her accomplishments. Farfel's would like to see our wonderful girl in a home that includes her in family time and activities. Some lap-time with belly rubs would be perfect as well! Carmel will be a loving and devoted companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a silly, fun-loving and irresistible young pup. She would also be a great addition to a younger family that works from a home-based office. We feel Carmel is too sensitive a dog to be left alone for the long hours of full-time employment outside of the home. Carmel has been fully vetted, vaccinated and spayed. These protocols support Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs that won't contribute to the overpopulation crisis in the canine community. Carmel will be arriving on transport on Saturday 7/11/2026. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and loving best friend and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-res. cue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Carmel please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
