Story
Frida is an 8-year-old girl who’s fully embraced the art of relaxation. If you’re looking for a low-key companion to share your couch and your quiet moments, she may just be your perfect match. This gentle girl is a true couch potato—her favorite activities include curling up in her cozy dog bed, enjoying long naps, and simply being near her people. Frida thrives on routine and does wonderfully with structure. She’s housebroken when kept on a consistent schedule and walks nicely on leash, making daily strolls easy and enjoyable. At night, she sleeps quietly in the living room, content and settled. She gets along well with calm, respectful dogs who give her space, but she’s not suited for homes with high-energy or overly pushy pups. Because she prefers a predictable, low-stress environment, Frida is looking for an adult-only home or one with older teens (15+) who understand and respect a dog’s space. Frida will do best with a patient, experienced dog owner—she is not a good fit for first-time adopters. She needs someone who will give her time to build trust and allow her to move at her own pace. Once she feels safe, she will quietly blossom into a loyal and comforting companion. She doesn’t ask for much—just kindness, consistency, and a soft place to land.

Story
Patty is a 2-year-old Havanese mix with a playful spirit and a growing sense of confidence. She came to us with a very matted coat, so she’s sporting a short haircut for now—but once her soft curls grow back, she’ll be looking like a little superstar! Patty is settling into her foster home and learning new things every day. Her previous home loved her, but didn’t have much time for training, so she’s still working on some basics. She’s leash trained, nearly housebroken, and absolutely loves toys—especially stealing socks, so guard your laundry! She’d do best in a home with no kids, and we’re still getting to know how she feels about other dogs. We’ll continue to update as we learn more. Patty is current on vaccines, heartworm negative, and will be spayed soon. With a little time and patience, she’s going to make a wonderful companion. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. Story
Meet Rhonda!... a 3-year-old Havanese with a heart as sweet as can be. Though she is blind, she can still see bright lights, and it doesn’t slow her down! She’s fearless, confident, and navigates her surroundings incredibly well. Rhonda did wonderfully with her foster mom's dogs and absolutely adores people. She rides calmly in the car, appears to be housetrained, and sleeps soundly through the night on her foster’s bed without moving around or falling off. This little girl has truly not a mean bone in her body. She’s gentle, loving, adaptable, and ready to bring joy to a lucky forever family. Be sure to complete an application on line and come to our Meet & Greet Saturday 11:30-1:30 If you are interested in this dog, please submit an application directly to our website at www.ny-petrescue.org. Only applications submitted directly to Petrescue will be considered.

HOKEY POKEY The little guy who turns himself around… because that’s what it’s all about Age: 5 years Weight: 18 lbsLocation: Passaic County, NJFully vetted • Neutered • MicrochippedAvailable in: NY, NJ, CT, PA, ME, VT, VA, DE, MD, RI, NHApply: houndsinpounds.org Meet the Wiggle MaestroHokey Pokey lives his entire life like he’s midroutine — full wiggles, full spins, full commitment. He puts his whole self in your lap.  He takes his whole self out of the dog bed.  He turns himself around when he’s excited. He shakes his whole butt when he sees snacks. He is, without question, a onedog dance floor. And when it comes to brushing his face? He’s more of a “soft pivot away” than a diva meltdown. A gentle, “mmm… maybe not that part of the choreography today” twirl. ‍ His Dance CardGood with dogsGood with catsLap lover extraordinaireFun, silly, and delightfully quirkyNot super active — more “slow sway” than “jump and clap”No kids under 12 (he prefers a calm, respectful audience) Why He’s a Star Hokey Pokey is the perfect blend of cozy, comedic, and charming. He wiggles with his whole heart, then curls up like a cinnamon roll on your lap. He’s affectionate, hilarious, and absolutely committed to his personal brand of interpretive dance. He’s a tiny man with big choreography. And honestly? That’s what it’s all about. ##2697403##

Story
Left on a road at what the pound thinks is 18 years of age. And he will now be loved and warm and cared for until the day he dies. Oreo is blind, housetrained and a very sweet elder gent! He barks to let you know what he wants, to go outside or is hungry but is independent and loving. Blindness has never kept him down.
