Story
Meet Tyson – 10 Pounds of Pure Boss Energy Don’t let the size fool you – Tyson is 10 pounds of attitude, charm, and fetch-playing fury at 6 years old . He’s got the spirit of a lion, the reflexes of a ninja, and the selective snuggling skills of a cat. Loves treats like they owe him money, and plays fetch like it’s an Olympic sport. Petting is strongly encouraged – until it’s not. You’ll know. Tyson struts on a leash like he’s walking a red carpet, but don’t expect him to share the spotlight – he needs to be the one and only dog in your life. Kids? Hard pass. He’s not about that toddler chaos. Tyson’s looking for a grown-up with dog-savvy skills and a taste for tiny drama kings. Think you’ve got what it takes to keep up with this compact legend? Tyson’s ready to rule your heart… and your living room! Neutered with all up to date shots Copy this link and paste into your browser and fill out : https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/POSH/Dog

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This group was rescued from a byb situation with 28 other dogs and an elderly caregiver who eventually found herself in an overwhelming situation that needed to be rectified.  Despite the less than ideal situation, this little group is learning what it's like to live in stable situations, receive individual attention, and are doing very well coming out of their shells <3 Best guess, no guarantees, is that these kids are small breed mixes, possibly Maltese/Lhasa Apso/Poodle/Terrier mixes? - update - a couple adoptive homes have received Wisdom panel result, see attached photo for breeds.Meet KOOPER Kooper is about 10-14 months old, possibly Havanese/Maltese mix, he is about 10-15lbs. Kooper is fostered with other dogs.  All of this group have also been fine with cats, we expect Kooper would just be just fine in a household with kitties.  Kooper prefers a slower intro with new humans-strangers can be suspicious, so maybe a group dog class to not only bond with his new humans, but also do some neutral stranger exposure with other dog people. But he loves walks and adventure - he is a boy who falls for his people and loves to be with them. Snuggling with his people at night is a favorite part of his day.Kooper is potty trained-as with any rescue dog (or any dog for that matter), he may need a refresher course for a few days once he is in his new environment. Kooper is neutered, up-to-date on core vaccines, tested heartworm negative, dewormed, current on flea preventative, and is microchipped! ____________________________________________________________________**If you are interested, YOU NEED TO APPLY.  Also, a follow-up email to info@safeatlast.net is strongly recommended. To pursue adoption, please register on www.safeatlast.net.  (Click Register on the left-hand side of our homepage.)  When you receive your password on your email account, please log back on to our website to complete the SAFE AT LAST on-line adoption application.  (Click Forms/Application on the left-hand side of our homepage and select the Adoption Application.) Once we have your completed application, if we feel you are a good match, we will contact you by email. (So, please check your SPAM.)  Our process is straightforward but involves a phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $450 applies. YOU CANNOT MEET OUR RESCUE ANIMALS UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO ADOPT.  WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE SUBMITTED THE FULLY FILLED OUT SAFE AT LAST ON-LINE ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Delay in submitting your application will put you behind other potentially suitable applicants.  Ultimately, approved adopters will be required to complete an adoption in Schoharie/Albany County. Thank you for your interest.(Sorry, we will not respond to generic 'check the box,' 'Is s/he available,' 'Can you give me more information' inquiries.) Story
Meet Abby! Abby was rescued from a puppy mill back in January. We were told she is a Havanese and is approximately 5 years old. This cute girl has been in foster care for almost 2 months now and has really made some great progress! Abby quickly became very attached to her primary foster parent and follows her everywhere. She can be a bit shy but as soon as you sit on the couch or bed she jumps right up and snuggles in. When anyone but her foster mom is walking around she stays right out of the way and watches the goings on from the doorway. We think she may just be a little frightened of people when they’re standing and nervous of strangers in general. She absolutely loves toys! She throws the ball to herself and chases it around the room. She’s still too nervous to play with a person but we’re convinced she’ll continue to gain confidence and will be a super fun and playful companion! She loves sitting outside on a warm day, soaking up some rays. She is not great at leash walking just yet so she’ll need a home with a fenced (at least 4 ft high because she’s very athletic) yard. Another requirement we have for our puppy mill rescues is another dog in the home for her to continue to learn from and lean on for comfort. An active dog would be preferable because she loves to play with other small dogs. If you’re looking to bring home a new family member—especially a little lovebug with some healthy attachment issues—apply for Abby! PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INFORMATION BELOW! Abby is currently fostering near Rochester, NY and cannot travel prior to adoption. Visitors are welcome to come to her for a meet and greet. We currently adopt in the states of NY, NJ, Eastern PA, DE, and some areas in MD. We can not accept applications from other states at this time. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our adoption application which you can find on our website at www.dutchcountryanimalrescue.org/adopt.html Our adoption fees are on our application. All of our rescues are spayed/neutered, up to date on rabies and DHPP, heartworm tested, treated for worms and fleas and most are microchipped. We are not a shelter, we are 100% volunteer public charity. All of our dogs are in foster homes until they are adopted. Since we are not a shelter, we do not receive government funding. We are a public charity that relies solely on funds through our adoption fee, fundraisers, and private donations. Since we are 100% volunteer based, all funds collected go directly towards the rescue and vet costs of our dogs. We take each rescue personally and spend a lot of effort trying to match the right dog to the right family. Thank you for considering one of our rescued dogs.
