Story
Meet Oreo! 🖤🤍 At around 8 years old and 25 Lbs, Oreo is proof that it’s never too late for a fresh start. This sweet, perfectly mannered boy is currently being treated for a skin infection that was allowed to go untreated for far too long by his previous owners. The good news? He’s healing beautifully, and as he feels better each day, his wonderful personality is shining through. Oreo loves his people, enjoys the company of other dogs, walks beautifully on a leash, and is perfectly housebroken. He’s the kind of easygoing companion who would fit right into almost any person or family’s life. Oreo also has dry eye, which is easily managed with daily eye medication. He takes his drops without any fuss, and this simple routine will need to continue for the rest of his life. If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle companion who asks for little but gives so much in return, Oreo may be the perfect match.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Teddy – 1‑Year‑Old Havanese Mix, 10 lbs Teddy has made incredible progress in his foster home. Once a nervous little dog with a very big bark, he is now far more confident, playful, and secure. He absolutely loves other playful small dogs and will happily play all day with the right companion. He would also be perfectly content as an only dog — as long as he has lots of toys, because Teddy loves toys more than anything. Teddy originally came to us from a local shelter after being surrendered for slipping out the front door multiple times. Now that he’s safe and supported, he is blossoming into a bright, affectionate, and charming young dog who is ready for a fresh start. He can be shy when meeting new people, but once he warms up, Teddy becomes a cuddly, devoted companion who loves to snuggle and stay close. He enjoys toys, playtime, and is very food‑motivated — especially when his foster mom remembers to pay the “cheese tax.” Teddy enjoys his daily walks and spending time outside. A fenced yard would be wonderful for him, as he likes to explore, sniff, and “help” with gardening. He is crate trained, quiet, and doing very well with housetraining. With his young age and all the changes he has been through, he may need a little adjustment time in a new home, but he is very close to being fully reliable. He has been recently groomed and will need regular grooming to keep him comfortable and looking his best. Other Pets & Children Teddy does best with small dogs and enjoys playing with them. Large dogs overwhelm him, and he may bark out of fear. He also tends to bark at cats, so a home without feline friends is best. Ideal Home Teddy will in a home where he is loved and given lots of attention! He would be happy as an only dog or with a compatible small dog. He is looking for someone patient, kind, and willing to give him time to adjust. Once he knows he is safe, Teddy becomes a devoted little shadow who follows his people with love and trust. He is also wonderful in the car — calm, quiet, and easy to travel with. Medical & Adoption Info Teddy is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated, and tested negative for heartworm. His adoption fee is $550, which helps support our high‑medical‑needs dogs. We require a martingale collar at the time of adoption. If you do not have one, you may purchase one from Pixie Mamas for an additional $10 to ensure Teddy’s safety and security. Story
Frida is an 8-year-old sweetheart who has fully embraced the art of relaxation. If you're looking for a loyal, low-key companion to share your couch and quiet moments, she may be your perfect match. This gentle girl loves cozy dog beds, afternoon naps, and simply being near her people. She thrives on routine, is housebroken when kept on a consistent schedule, walks nicely on leash, and sleeps quietly through the night. Frida loves other dogs and will happily initiate play with her canine friends. She enjoys having dog companions around and would do well in a home with or without another friendly dog. Frida is looking for an adult-only home or one with older teens (15+). She'll do best with a patient, experienced owner who gives her time to settle in and build trust. Once she feels safe, she becomes a devoted and loving companion. All Frida needs is kindness, consistency, and a soft place to land.

Story
Chewy was born about September 10, 2010 and weighs about 21 pounds. Please understand Google helped us with the breed choices, we are really guessing!!!  Chewy is good with other dogs and cats alike.  He has been around visiting children as young as 2.  He does fine on leash, but the last few years the owner has not been able to walk him and he has used potty floor pads in the home.  She felt that if he happened to get off leash that he would hang around his human.  He did ride beautifully in the car on the two hour trip here.  He is not a chewer and hasn't seemed to enjoy toys or maybe had not had access to any for some time.  He is not a lap hog but does love to sit nearby and enjoys his humans companionship.  Considering all the changes in a short amount of time he moved in here rather easily and should do so again when he finds another forever home.  He has had some vet care over the years.  He was overweight upon arrival but is now slim down beautifully.  Also, upon arrival he was a drastic mess of mats and had to be shaved down and his teeth were a bit much with 6 having to be pulled.  Please know that with the lack of dental care for so long another dental may be needed sooner rather than later.  Chewy does have some normal old dog cloudiness in his eyes and his hearing is diminished some but he can both hear and see, This cutie is ready for a new start in life! We received a plea from a social worker in a city a couple hours away that an elderly lady had been released from the hospital a couple of days ago and went home to her two dogs who had been shut in the bathroom of her mobile home for a month when she had emergency surgery and a neighbor stopped by to give food and water.  Yes, there were relatives not far away, but as we see day in, day out, family disappoints when it comes to an elderly human's pets.  The social worker explained the lady needed to go into assisted care but she refused until her dogs were in a safe place.  Truly, we are proud of her for that devotion and so are Gabe and Chewy.  The two dogs have always been together but are not terribly bonded.  Still we will be looking for a home where there is another dog companion or a human who is home much of the time.  The lady was very grateful when we arrived to escort the dogs to Cuba and the social worker was there at the same time to escort the lady in a care facility.  No one would call this a happy ending but everyone involved did the very best they could in a tough situation.   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $__300.00______. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.   Can't Adopt Me?  SPONSOR ME Look for the Link 'Special Instructions to Seller' if you want to note a particular pet Before you seek to adopt a pet from Joyful Rescues, please read our Pet Adoption page http://www.joyfulrescues.org/pet_adoption.html.
