Story
Breed: Havanese Age: 5 Weight: 13 Lbs Good With Dogs: yes Good With Cats: Unknown Good With Kids: unknown Energy Level: medium Potty-Training: In process Special Needs: puppy mill rescue Requirements: > Secure fenced yard > Another small dog in the home > Experienced adopter Meet Abby! Abby was rescued from a puppy mill back in January. We were told she is a Havanese and is approximately 5 years old. This cute girl has been in foster care for almost 2 months now and has really made some great progress! Abby quickly became very attached to her primary foster parent and follows her everywhere. She can be a bit shy but as soon as you sit on the couch or bed she jumps right up and snuggles in. When anyone but her foster mom is walking around she stays right out of the way and watches the goings on from the doorway. We think she may just be a little frightened of people when they’re standing and nervous of strangers in general. She absolutely loves toys! She throws the ball to herself and chases it around the room. She’s still too nervous to play with a person but we’re convinced she’ll continue to gain confidence and will be a super fun and playful companion! She loves sitting outside on a warm day, soaking up some rays. She is not great at leash walking just yet so she’ll need a home with a fenced (at least 4 ft high because she’s very athletic) yard. Another requirement we have for our puppy mill rescues is another dog in the home for her to continue to learn from and lean on for comfort. An active dog would be preferable because she loves to play with other small dogs. If you’re looking to bring home a new family member—especially a little lovebug with some healthy attachment issues—apply for Abby! This dog is currently being fostered near Rochester, NY and cannot travel prior to adoption. Meet and greets available in the surrounding area only. Visitors welcome. PLEASE NOTE: Unless otherwise written, all of our puppy mill survivors will require a secure fenced yard, another small dog in the home, and an experienced owner. Dogs rescued from puppy mills will have started to learn but cannot be expected to be fully potty trained at time of adoption. PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INFORMATION BELOW! We currently adopt in the states of PA*, NJ, NY**, DE, and some areas of MD. We can not accept applications from other states at this time. *Eastern half **Excluding NYC, Bronx, Long Island If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our adoption application which you can find on our website at www.dutchcountryanimalrescue.org/adopt.html We will reply within one week if your application meets the criteria for this dog. Our adoption fees are on our application. All of our rescues are spayed/neutered, up to date on rabies and DHPP, heartworm tested, treated for worms and fleas and most are microchipped. We are not a shelter, we are 100% volunteer public charity. All of our dogs are in foster homes until they are adopted. Since we are not a shelter, we do not receive government funding. We are a public charity that relies solely on funds through our adoption fee, fundraisers, and private donations. Since we are 100% volunteer based, all funds collected go directly towards the rescue and vet costs of our dogs. We take each rescue personally and spend a lot of effort trying to match the right dog to the right family. Thank you for considering one of our rescued dogs.

Story
Archie was surrendered by his former owner due to his high level of anxiety and resource guarding.  He is currently taking anti-anxiety medication.  These behavioral issues are able to be desensitized with Archie being placed in the right home with a new family who is willing to work with him.  CODAR will include free in home training with our recommended trainer who has vast knowledge of dog language and how to show positive reinforcement while setting boundaries in the home.  He was purchased from a pet store and lived in an adult only home until he was surrendered.  He is approximately 2 years old.  We are unsure if this was a learned behavior or if he was not corrected when it first began.  Archie is super friendly when meeting new people and loves to be petted.  He gets along well with the other dogs staying at our facility.  He walks well on a leash and knows basic commands.  He is up to date on all shots, is neutered and microchipped.  Archie requires an experienced dog owner willing to work with him.  Due to his current issues, we recommend a home without children or visiting grandchildren.   If you are interested in adopting from Castle-of-Dreams Animal Rescue, please complete an Adoption Application We are a 100% volunteer organization and have several opportunities available in fundraising, fostering, dog care, events and lots more!  To join our winning team, please complete a Volunteer Application A healthy pet is a happy pet! Story
(Lil) Bear is a friendly, cuddly havanese cocker spaniel mix who turns 8 this october🎃, and I am looking to find him a wonderful loving home!! I am currently in college and my mom works full time so we are trying to rehome my pups sadly so they get the attention and care they deserve. we have had him since 2016, and he is a great companion. He LOVES walks, love treats, sitting on your lap/couch, gets along with anybody, is friendly with other dogs and puppies, does not bite or ever get aggressive, definitely more of a lazy pup but he does show his playful side once in a while!! He is trained to go bathroom outside, knows tricks like sit, paw, lay down, etc he has not been around babies before but he is very docile and cuddly so i am sure he would be great. Please message me if you would like to be bears new loving home, he deserves it now that he is getting older❤️
