Meet Abby! Abby was rescued from a puppy mill back in January. We were told she is a Havanese and is approximately 5 years old.
This cute girl has been in foster care for almost 2 months now and has really made some great progress! Abby quickly became very attached to her primary foster parent and follows her everywhere. She can be a bit shy but as soon as you sit on the couch or bed she jumps right up and snuggles in. When anyone but her foster mom is walking around she stays right out of the way and watches the goings on from the doorway. We think she may just be a little frightened of people when they’re standing and nervous of strangers in general.
She absolutely loves toys! She throws the ball to herself and chases it around the room. She’s still too nervous to play with a person but we’re convinced she’ll continue to gain confidence and will be a super fun and playful companion! She loves sitting outside on a warm day, soaking up some rays. She is not great at leash walking just yet so she’ll need a home with a fenced (at least 4 ft high because she’s very athletic) yard. Another requirement we have for our puppy mill rescues is another dog in the home for her to continue to learn from and lean on for comfort. An active dog would be preferable because she loves to play with other small dogs.
If you’re looking to bring home a new family member—especially a little lovebug with some healthy attachment issues—apply for Abby!
This dog is currently being fostered near Rochester, NY and cannot travel prior to adoption. Meet and greets available in the surrounding area only. Visitors welcome.
PLEASE NOTE: Unless otherwise written, all of our puppy mill survivors will require a secure fenced yard, another small dog in the home, and an experienced owner. Dogs rescued from puppy mills will have started to learn but cannot be expected to be fully potty trained at time of adoption.

We are not a shelter, we are 100% volunteer public charity. All of our dogs are in foster homes until they are adopted. Since we are not a shelter, we do not receive government funding. We are a public charity that relies solely on funds through our adoption fee, fundraisers, and private donations. Since we are 100% volunteer based, all funds collected go directly towards the rescue and vet costs of our dogs.
We take each rescue personally and spend a lot of effort trying to match the right dog to the right family. Thank you for considering one of our rescued dogs.
