Story
Come meet me and 75+ of my adoptable friends at Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue's Super Adoption Event, Furever Yours! Sunday, February 15th, 2026 at Paradise Island in Staten Island from 11am - 3pm!
Meet Nicholas!
Nicholas is a 2-year-old, 13-pound purebred Havanese with a soft, cuddly coat to match his soft, cuddly personality.
Nicholas is a bright, happy boy who quickly learned his sit command and loves playing fetch with a ball or squeaky barbell. He still has plenty of puppy joy to share with a new family and thrives on being part of the action. He is housetrained and happily goes outside, enjoying the chance to explore his surroundings along the way. He loves new places, new people, and especially his walks!
Nicholas truly shines on leash: he’s a little trail detective who enjoys sniffing and exploring, and daily walks help him burn off his young energy. He makes it easy, too, by being a very pleasant and polite walker.
At home, Nicholas enjoys playing with his dog siblings and leaping for joy in the yard or even the snow. He does great with children and is generally quiet, only offering a bark in response to beeping sounds. Nicholas doesn’t love being alone for long periods and will need a gradual transition to spending time independently—he simply has so much love to give and wants to share it with his people.
Daily brushing is a must to keep his powder-soft coat looking its best, and future adopters should be prepared for regular grooming. If you’ve forgotten how good it feels to smile and be joyful, Nicholas will happily remind you every single day.
Nicholas is being fostered in Scotch Plains, NJ and his adoption fee is $600.
Nicholas is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well.

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
