Story
We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs to their new home leaving by January 9th 2026 (could be sooner!) to the east coast from where we are located here in Southern California. Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Abbie to our trip for the right home/home! As always for our adopters peace of mind we never ask for anything up front! Her adoption fee, along with her adopting families share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person with Abbie ultimately finalizing her adoption. Meet Abbie 💗 Abbie is the kind of little dog who slips into your life with a softness that feels like she was always meant to be there. She has the sweetest, most serene temperament—gentle, loving, and incredibly attentive to her person. At just over 8 lbs with a straight, hypoallergenic Havanese-Poodle mix coat, she’s a delicate, elegant little companion who loves with her whole heart in the quietest, most comforting ways. She doesn’t need grand gestures or constant activity; she simply wants to belong, to be held, to be near, and to be someone’s steady little shadow throughout the day. She came to us from an older gentleman in a wheelchair who adored his dogs dearly but could no longer physically care for them. His love for them was clear, and making the choice to surrender them was an act of true devotion—putting their futures first. Although the dogs in his home knew one another, their bond was truly with him, not with each other, so it became very clear that finding individual families for each of them was the right next step. Abbie has taken that transition with so much grace. She trusts easily, she loves openly, and she holds no hesitation in her heart. Abbie is wonderfully behaved and exceptionally easy to live with. She is house trained and on a consistent 3–4 hour outdoor potty routine. She sleeps peacefully in her crate at night, though she would happily curl up beside your bed or in it if you prefer—she is very adaptable and thrives in routine and closeness. She’s not a barker, but she will softly alert you to unfamiliar noises in a way that feels helpful rather than reactive. She loves other dogs and cats and blends in with any home dynamic beautifully, though her true happiness comes from being with her person. She has a playful side that comes out in the yard during sunbathing sessions, but even then, it’s gentle and joyful, never chaotic or overwhelming. Abbie enjoys grooming and adores being pampered—she stands calmly and loves every bit of the attention. She is wonderful on road trips, happiest resting in your lap, which is why we recommend a booster seat for safe travel when she can’t be held by someone other than the driver. Her manners in the home are impeccable; she is calm, respectful, and content simply being near you. Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/abbie-1 She is fully vetted—spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines, and has had a full dental cleaning with necessary extractions, along with a complete exam by our veterinarian. Her adoption fee helps cover her medical care, dental extractions, microchip, months of care with us, her grooming needs, and the training and structure we’ve provided to prepare her for this next chapter. Note: Abbie will need to be on a soft food diet for now as sadly almost all of her teeth had to be removed. (She has 6 teeth left, two of which are her bottom k9's so no, her tounge isn't hanging out (it's a question we get a lot!!) She is as beautiful and perfect as ever, just with less teeth 🙃 Abbie is ready for someone who wants a loving, peaceful, deeply devoted companion. If you’re looking for a soft little soul who will give you her entire heart without hesitation, she may be your perfect match.

Story
I wanted a companion for my Yorkie, so I decided to adopt another dog. After visiting several shelters, I chose to adopt Chewy from Shake A Paw in Union, NJ I was told he had been returned because he supposedly bit someone, but he has never bitten anyone in my family. He has been around children and strangers with no issues. Chewy does bark at people at first, but once you start petting him, he never wants you to stop. He is, however, very jealous of any dog that receives my attention. If I’m giving attention to my Yorkie, he may try to jump on top of her, bark, growl, and he will jump up on me if I’m holding her. I am afraid he will eventually hurt her. When he is being held and petted himself, he is completely content. Chewy would do best as the only dog in the home. He loves attention, enjoys playing fetch, and adores his toys. With someone who has time and affection just for him, he is truly a little ray of sunshine.

Story
Vader is a great dog who needs someone who will give him affection and love. His original owner was my cousin who was battling breast cancer when she adopted him. Due to her illness Vader was being pad trained and not house broken. I brought him home with me when she could no longer care for him. I have tried to crate train and house train him I have not been successful. Hopefully I can find him a loving home with someone who has the time and patience to do so.

Story
Animal Sanctuary Society, Inc. PO Box 24 Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054856-642-0004http://www.animalsanctuarysociety.org/ Tazzi is as cute as can be.  He gets along with kids and female dogs but not male dogs. He loves to be a lap dog and hops right on your lap.  He loves to go on long walks.  Please fill out an application to meet him at www.animalsanctuarysociety.org    Havanese Temperament There are so many things to do and see in the world, yet your Havanese’s favorite place is with their favorite person—lucky you! Whether you’re watching a movie or folding laundry, you have their attention, and they find you fascinating. However, this doesn’t mean they’re a homebody. On the contrary, this friendly dog wants to see the world and meet new people. If you, too, think that strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet, you’ve met your soul pup. These social butterflies will make new acquaintances every time they go on a walk, whether two- or four-legged. While Havanese dogs look dainty, they’re sturdier than they seem and have enough energy for at least a couple of neighborhood sprints a day. The most agile Havanese may love dog sports like agility, too. These bright pups will let you know when they’re feeling playful; they might drop a favorite dog toy at your feet and cock their head to announce it’s time for a game of fetch. When it comes to training, it’s easy-peasy. Because they’re very smart dogs and eager to please (and learn!), most Havanese pick up simple cues quickly. And if you have other furry friends in the house, no worries. When it comes to the Havanese, the more friends, the merrier. Just make sure everyone is introduced and socialized properly.      To meet or adopt this pet, please fill out an adoption application online at www.animalsanctuarysociety.org.November 28, 2025, 3:47 am

Story
Hello, my name is: WendyApprox. DOB: 10/19/2024Weight: 12.8 lbsSex/Breed: Spayed female HavaneseRescued From: Breeding kennelWendy is a super sweet girl who settled into foster care quickly and is already showing her gentle, goofy charm. She’s still a touch shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, she enjoys pets and loves snuggling into a cozy pile of blankets with her canine foster siblings. Wendy is the perfect mix of playful puppy energy and easygoing calm—she’d be happy with a friendly dog companion but could also thrive as an only dog. Cats seems to be a-ok in her book as well. She’s doing well with housetraining, crate training, and her leash skills, but having a yard will help her continue to make progress. Watching her silly personality blossom has been a joy, and she’s ready for a loving home to help her keep growing! Please help us find this little goofy girl the forever home she so desperately deserves! Story
Wiggles is a 7 year old spayed female havanese who weighs 11 pounds. This adorable little girl was rescued from poor conditions and we cannot imagine what she has been through. She is a bit shy to start, but has started to wiggle when she gets happy, had her first zoom around the yard and we cannot wait for her to be spoiled rotten. She has tested great with other dogs and would do best in a home with another dog and a fenced in yard for her safety. It does not seem that she has ever been on a leash, but we promised that she has no worries from here on out.
