Waffle was found abandoned in a neighborhood. With no information on his past, it's hard to know what Waffle has gone through, but he is ready to find his happily ever after. Waffle is a good dog, but he does have some areas to be aware of. He resource guards people, so will need a family willing to work on this with him. He can be testy if other dogs get too close to his person; because of this, he would do best in an adult-only home. Waffle hasn't met cats, but is likely to do fine with them. Upon meeting other dogs, he is playful, relaxed and interested. He does love to play chase and tumble with other dogs! Waffle is wonderful in his crate and is fine with being leashed but needs some practice walking nicely. One funny quirk is when he sleeps, his bottom lip relaxes and he shows sleep teefers. It's adorable. If you're willing to work on a few things to help Waffle feel secure, then he can put his best paw forward and become his best self! In return, you will have a loyal friend and the best cuddler. Waffle is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 10/10 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.   Rico the Poodle is looking for his forever home!  Rico is such a sweet, gentle, easygoing little guy who really just wants to be near his person. He is a very chill dog with a quiet, soft personality. He isn’t the kind of dog who demands a lot of attention or needs constant activity. Instead, he quietly moves around the house and seems happiest when he can simply lay down next to you. He has this gentle, almost old-soul quality about him. He moves slowly and quietly, and there is something incredibly endearing about the way he goes about his day. Although Rico isn’t shy, he is cautious when meeting new people and likes to take his time before walking up to someone. Once he feels comfortable, though, he absolutely loves attention. One of his favorite things is to reach up and ask for pets, and he will happily stay close to you soaking up all the affection he can get. More than anything, Rico seems to want companionship. He wants a person who will let him be their little shadow and curl up beside them. He would be perfectly content spending much of his day resting next to someone on the couch or enjoying a quiet snuggle. Rico doesn’t play a whole lot, although he has recently discovered a couple of squeaky toys and has shown some interest in them. He seems much more interested in being close to his person than running around entertaining himself. He walks nicely on a leash when he goes outside for potty breaks and exercise, and while he knows some commands, his listening skills can come and go when he is outside. He enjoys getting out for walks but doesn’t need a marathon to be happy. He seems very content with a calm, predictable routine. Rico is not completely potty trained yet, but he is really, really close. When he is kept on a good schedule, he does very well. The accidents he has had have primarily been when he has been left for extended periods while we are at work. With someone who is home more often or able to maintain a consistent potty schedule, we believe he could be very easy to care for. His former owner also told us that he did well in a crate. We don't currently have a crate, so we haven't been able to test that ourselves, but it may be something that would help him feel more comfortable when left alone. Rico does bark a little when he hears noises, and he does bark when we aren't home. We don't know exactly how much of this is separation-related or how he might do in a crate, so that is something his forever family will need to be patient with as he adjusts. He is otherwise a very quiet dog who doesn't spend his day making noise. Rico gets along well with our resident dog, who is a 50-pound female Bernedoodle with a very confident personality and lots of energy. She has snapped at him a couple of times, and Rico's response has been to simply move away and ignore her. He doesn't seem interested in confrontation and has shown a very gentle, tolerant nature around her. Rico does move like a quiet old man. He walks slowly and can be a little awkward on the stairs, but he definitely has some spring in his step when he wants it! He can jump right up onto our elevated king bed, which is about 36 inches high, so there is more ability and energy in that little body than his slow-and-steady walking might suggest. He seems to have his own pace and is happiest when life is calm and predictable. We really think Rico could be an incredible companion for someone who is looking for a quiet, loving dog. He seems especially suited to someone who wants a snuggle buddy and a little companion who will happily lay beside them for hours. He doesn't need a busy household or endless entertainment. He just wants to feel safe, loved, and included. There is something very special about this little guy. He has such a gentle presence and such a sweet way of asking for affection. When he reaches up for pets or quietly settles down beside you, it's hard not to fall in love with him. ❤️ Rico is ready for a forever home where someone will appreciate his calm personality, give him a little patience as he continues working on potty training and adjusting to being alone, and most importantly, let him be the quiet little cuddle bug that he is. Once you’re part of Lisa’s inner circle, you’re in for enthusiastic greetings, full-body cuddles, ridiculous antics, and some of the most expressive facial reactions you’ll ever see. She has a huge capacity for love. Lisa came into rescue after living with severe, painful eye and ear infections. Following extensive veterinary care, including several surgeries, she is feeling better and ready to enjoy life with a family of her own. There is so much to love about Lisa: She loves being close to her people. She will bury her head into you with all her love just pouring into her person. She is a lap poodle, all 60lbs of her. She is silly, playful, and endlessly entertaining. She is potty trained and can be trusted to free-roam when left alone. She rides beautifully in the car and hops right in. She does well at the groomer. She doesn’t counter surf or guard food or other resources. She calmly passes other dogs on walks, even dogs barking at her. She has excellent recall and is highly motivated by treats. She loves toys, balls, walks, and a good game of chase with canine friends. She has undergone a gastropexy, which greatly reduces the risk of the dangerous stomach twisting associated with bloat in deep-chested dogs. She is also pretty lazy and sleeps most of the day: a 45min-1hr walk a day and mental enrichment puzzles, lick mats, and a chew project are all that she needs to be fulfilled. She does not need another dog in the home, but she would love canine friends who can visit. Lisa’s ideal home will be a calm, predictable single-family home in a suburban or rural neighborhood with a physically fenced yard. She needs a family willing to introduce new people gradually and proactively manage her with people she doesn’t know. It would be best for her to go a home with few visitors. Lisa has responded incredibly well to positive reinforcement based training and continues to make progress. Lisa is available for a 2-4 week trial adoption to ensure she fits into her forever home.
