He may start out skittish, but once he chooses his person, he becomes a loyal little shadow who wants nothing more than to be close. Rigel tends to feel more comfortable around women and can be unsure of men at first, sometimes barking or growling when he’s nervous. With consistency and calm reassurance, he settles and has even been known to curl up next to his foster dad once he feels safe. Now that he’s gaining confidence, Rigel is beginning to show his playful side. He loves small stuffed toys, nightly chew sessions with bully sticks or pig ears, and cuddling on the couch or in bed. He enjoys being out and about as long as his trusted person is right beside him, and he rides quietly in the car. Rigel does best with another dog in the home—preferably one similar in size—who can help him continue learning how to be a confident house dog. He has lived with cats and done well, and he gets along with most dogs, though he avoids pushy or cantankerous personalities. A fenced yard is important for him, as he loves the freedom to explore safely. Potty training is coming along nicely with a schedule, and he knows cues like “outside” and “go potty.” Crates are not his favorite and he takes time to settle, but he does well when riding in one in the car. Jasper loves going for walks and is just starting to discover the joy of toys and treats. He’s learning quickly—working on sit for treats and making good progress with potty training. He’s doing well peeing outside and is still figuring out the pooping part, with a few accidents as he learns the routine. This handsome guy has recently found his voice! He can howl, bark, and whine, though he doesn’t use it much—he just likes knowing the option is there. He’s also incredibly affectionate and absolutely loves sitting in laps. Jasper can be hesitant with transitions like doorways, gates, and stairs. He’ll go up steps but not down yet, and while he can come in from the backyard, the front door is still a challenge. Elliana They gave me a fancy name at last! Can you believe it? I have been used as a breeder dog for years and years and then dumped at the local pound with a mammary gland tumor that you could play tennis with!! Who does that!!! At least that is what my foster mom thinks my life has been like. I sat there in a cage at animal control for 4 weeks before anyone would think about pulling me out of there but my foster mom said that she had to take me home so that I would have a chance to be a beloved pet before I die. Not that I am planning to do that anytime soon, but you never know. Anyhow, I went to the vet right away and had that big nasty thing taken off my stomach and the vets knew right away what it was and what it was from. They took out the baby making bits as well, so I won’t have to go through having my babies and then losing them right away to being just a baby and money making factory for somebody. Sheesh….get a job!! I have some issues, I won’t lie, but I am starting to kind of get used to being out of a cage, where I learned to circle around and around as there wasn’t a lot of space in those things. I can walk in a straight line and the more I get time outside, the more I am enjoying the fresh air and smells in the grass. I will revert to circles when I am nervous but Rome wasn’t built in a day and I have only had freedom for a couple of months now. I don’t have many teeth, as the ones I did have were rotted and broken from trying to eat the bars I suppose. I startle easily from the lack of being held and loved in my former life, and will try to “gum” you if I pick me up too quickly. But speaking to me and touching me before you pick me up will let me know you are there and going to be gentle with me. I am still getting used to the being held part, and sometimes can’t tolerate it very long, but I am learning and going slow is really helpful to me. I am learning what good food tastes like, and what a soft bed feels like, and while I have pretty limited vision to see things, I can follow my nose and it helps me to find everything I need to get around. Foster mom leaves me a puppy pad to potty on in the house if I have to go at night, and I am pretty good at using it. It took a while to figure out that is what it was for, but also, if I potty outside after meals, I am good if I keep to a schedule. So that is my story. Me me me me meeeeeee!!!!!! What? Oh. My foster mom says that is NOT how to spell my name. It is spelled “MiMi" which sounds the same but who cares how it is spelled. I am a vintage model of a little poodle and I was a much loved member of the family at one time. Not to say that I am spoiled or anything but I know what I want when I want it! So it really is all about me! I adore being around my people and love being held. I will make little whimpering noises if you are there and I think I haven’t had enough lap time and look at you with my puppy dog eyes so that you feel guilty and pick me up where I want to be. I am a healthy 14 year old poodle who is scheduled for spay and teeth cleaning on Jan. 5th and then will be able to go to my new home after that. I use a potty pad when I am sleeping on the floor, but my foster mom puts a diaper on me when I sleep on your bed because I am not too keen about jumping off the bed. So when I have to potty, if I am on the bed, sometimes I will potty the bed. But the diaper takes care of that. I am a whopping 10 pounds and do walk pretty well of a leash as long as you don’t walk too fast. I am housebroken if you take me out on a schedule. It took a while to figure out that is what it was for, but also, if I potty outside after meals, I am good if I keep to a schedule. So that is my story. Me me me me meeeeeee!!!!!! What? Oh. My foster mom says that is NOT how to spell my name. It is spelled “MiMi" which sounds the same but who cares how it is spelled. I am a vintage model of a little poodle and I was a much loved member of the family at one time. Not to say that I am spoiled or anything but I know what I want when I want it! So it really is all about me! I adore being around my people and love being held. I will make little whimpering noises if you are there and I think I haven’t had enough lap time and look at you with my puppy dog eyes so that you feel guilty and pick me up where I want to be. I am a healthy 14 year old poodle who is scheduled for spay and teeth cleaning on Jan. 5th and then will be able to go to my new home after that. I use a potty pad when I am sleeping on the floor, but my foster mom puts a diaper on me when I sleep on your bed because I am not too keen about jumping off the bed. So when I have to potty, if I am on the bed, sometimes I will potty the bed. But the diaper takes care of that. I am a whopping 10 pounds and do walk pretty well of a leash as long as you don’t walk too fast. I am housebroken if you take me out on a schedule. Enzo is an affectionate, gentle little poodle who truly shines once he feels safe and settled. He loves his people and enjoys being close, but he can startle easily—sudden noises can catch him off guard. Because of this, Enzo will do best with a patient adopter who understands shy or sensitive dogs and is willing to help him continue building confidence. Enzo gets along very well with other dogs and has lovely manners. He needs a home with another friendly dog to help show him the ropes and give him reassurance. He’s not high energy and is content with a calm, predictable routine. He is a good eater, sleeps nicely in his kennel, and kennels well when his foster runs errands for a couple of hours. Enzo is also a good little car rider. He walks well on leash and his recall is coming along—he’s learning and picks things up fairly quickly. Corbin is that dog, he is  very afraid of being touched by humans but he definately loves them.  He's come a long way in his short life and he actually really enjoys being pet and scratched, but on his own terms. He often approaches to be pet when you wake up in the morning being flat on your back and perhaps a little groggy. If your sitting, you're much less scary.  Corbin loves to play with other dogs and truly loves the companionship of other dogs big or small. A role model dog is really important for Corbin as is a fence to keep him safe. Corbin is house trained, and crate trained, and a very good listener.  Corbin struggles to trust people and no doubt it's because of past experiences. He is the sweetest little guy with a huge heart and you can see that in him every day.  He wants to trust and he loves to be loved, his past is just in his way. If you're that special person who knows how to work with a frightened dog, who has endless patience to wait for him, and be on his schedule, Corbin is for you.  Corbin is an overall, very happy dog who loves the feel of the sun on his face when he's sitting outside, with other dogs and LOVES treats.  All he need snow is a forever home with lots of patience, unconditional love and a family that will help him be the best he can be! Our foster dog Pecan sure hopes so!Pecan is a 3 year old Bichon mix who came to us after being stray for a bit. He was a bit of a matted mess but after a good grooming session, had a great glow-up! We are still working with him on his tear stains but those should also clear up.Pecan's daily goal is to be with you as much as possible. In your lap, under your feet, Pecan doesn't care, as long as you are together! Do you work remotely? Pecan would love to hang out in your office as you have a conference call (he promises to be quiet).Do you have another dog? Great! Pecan loves other dogs and is good at doing what another dog wants to do - be calm, hang out, play, he's down for anything. Do you have a cat? Great!
