Story
Hi there! My name is DARLA and here is some info about me:Breed: Husky / Labrador Retriever  Age: 6 yearsGender: femaleWeight: 60 pounds - 28 kgHeight: 26 inches - 65 cm I am a very sweet and happy dog.  I am gentle and just want to move through life in a smooth way.  I get along well with people and also dogs, not sure about cats though. Found roaming around in the hills outside of a major city, I was first seen by people who thought I was blind because of my unique eyecolor.  My eyes are very light and sky blue. As most people who know huskies understand thus is pretty common. Once I arrived at the shelter they realized that I can see fine. I have been waiting at the shelter since. What I really want is to not live the rest of my life in the shelter, but to have a family of my own.  I would love to be someone's best companion, to hang out and share life together. Energy level: moderate Get along with:Dogs, yesCats, unknownKids, unknown (awaiting video proof)   FEARSSo far, I am not fearful of anything. I will probably be scared when I get on the plane. TRAINING:Leash skills – none, work in progress...House trained – no, please be prepared to help me learn! I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD + applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. Did you catch the hint, I am a very smart guy. Bet I coulld take on most any challenge you present.Found hiding under a car in one of the most dangerous parts in Lebanon, I was really scared. I'm lucky to have escaped with my life. Thanks to my rescuers who couldn't think of leaving me.My rescuers took me to a foster home, as it is just not safe being on the streets in my country... if you are a dog anyway.Turns out, I am a really friendly guy. Hey big world. My name is RACCOON and here is a little info about me:Breed: HuskyAge: 3 monthsGender: maleWeight: tbdHeight: tbdHighlight(s): playful, energetic, social If you Peter Piper picked a pack of peppered puppies, how many puppies would Peter Piper have picked? Why, all of them of course. But there is just me, so that makes it easy for you.My rescuer found me on the road in the Middle East. It was in the dark of the night and I was in the middle of the road. I could have gone under the wheel of a car at any moment. Thankfully, my rescuer suddenly saw me and swerved the car to avoid running me over. That was just a couple weeks ago.I currently live with a small dog and 3 cats at the boarding house where I am staying. I love to hobnob with the cats. For a husky pup, I actually seem pretty gentle. No bonzai bounce in this kid, but I can be like any puppy, mischievious and playful... like a raccoon. I kind of look like a raccoon too, hence my name. Being a social boy, I'd love a home with other fur brothers or sisters:  https://youtu.be/fHqO7oa2V_k, even the 2 legged kind of siblings is fine by me. Heck, let's get everyone in on the fun. I know a good thing when I find it though and like to hoard all the attention to myself. Hopefully, we can do hiking and other outdoor adventures. Especially snow activities, I'm a sled dog, right? Energetically, bounding through the snow, pulling Santa's sleigh, oh wait, that's the reindeer. Ha.I'd love a yard best, but if we manage enough action out and about, I should be ok without.I can't travel into Canada until I am 4 months old, but that is soon, so by the time you complete your app, I'll be close to old enough. Story
Hi all, my name is Silas. I am a very loving four year old, male, husky mix who needs a new home. My family adores me, but I am not doing well with the new toddler in my family. Loud noises and fast movements are upsetting for me. So my family is making the painful decision to find me a child free home.  I am very good with other dogs and I adore cats. I would LOVE to share my new home with one of those fascinating creatures. Once I am comfortable with you I am very cuddly. I love to get belly rubs and to snuggle. You will love how well behaved I am. I am great on the leash, and have no food or toy aggression.  If you are looking for a dog to play and snuggle with who will keep you smiling, I am your boy. I am neutered and vaccinated. Hello! My name is Samuel, keep reading to get to know me!Breed: Husky / German Shepherd mixAge: 9 months Gender: Male Weight: 21kg (46 lbs) Height: 50 cm  I had a rough introduction to the world. My rescuer found me, along with my two other siblings (Sebastian and Soffie) in a box beside a trash bin when we were only one month old. Can you imagine how scared we were? Thankfully we had each other. We were found with parvovirus unfortunately. My rescuer had all three of us treated and now we are healthy and happy.  I’m feeling just about ready for a new home. The shelter is cramping my style and I’m ready to spread my wings. My rescuer says I am calm, but also energetic when I want to be! Given my breed, it’s no surprise that I am bright, smart, and will make you laugh a bit. I’m happy to cuddle up with you after a day of exploring. I’m good with other dogs and I like people! Kids though? Not sure, I haven’t met any yet! Cats… what are those? I haven’t met any yet! However my rescuer says they have not observed any prey drive.  I’m house trained and can walk on a leash! But I would love to learn so much more! I am the perfect age to learn some new skills.  I would do best in a home that can provide me with lots of exercise as my energy level is high! I would love to join my potential family on walks, adventures, bike rides, etc. Oh! And you may want to invest in a lint roller, if you know what I mean. My ideal home would be one who could give me the love and attention I need in order to thrive! I am a smart dude and will crave some mental stimulation on top of physical stimulation.  Energy Level: High  I get along with: Dogs: Yes People: YesKids: UnknownCats: Unknown Prey drive: Not observed. My adopter needs to be willing to train me through these behaviours should they arise.  Fears: None observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.  Training: I am house trained and can walk on leash! But as mentioned above, I am the prime age for absorbing new information! I would love to learn more skills.  Health notes: Parvovirus when found at 1 month old. Has been treated and is healthy now. Story
Hellooo friends!! My name is Lyssa and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Husky mix  Age: 4 years approx. Gender: Female Weight: 42 lbs (19kg) Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico RESCUE STORY - Well, I can tell you this much - Living on the streets of Mehico as a husky mix was no bueno my friends! I was awfully lucky to be found when I was because, besides the heat and the hardships, I also had a bout with TVT! Thankfully that's allll better now. I hear that the Pacific Northwest has some nice, cold weather. Boy, I would love to experience that! Rain and forests and snow and hiking would be RIGHT up my alley and I promise I'd be the perfect adventure-time companion. Wouldn't that be nice? TEMPERAMENT - I'm a loving and playful pup with a good amount of energy (I would make a great addition to an outdoorsy, active family!). I do well playing with other doggos and I'm alwayssss down for a rousing game of fetch or a friendly match of tug-of-war. My foster family says my sweet, husky personality shines through like a "star in the night sky"  d'awww. My dream in life is to find a furever family who can see me for the absolute gem of a pup that I am and who I can share allll of the loving kisses and cuddles with (and adventures!).   ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - High GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown Dogs – Yes! I live with several other pups and we get along swimmingly Cats – No thank you! PREY DRIVE - I have a prey drive and I go after cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – I am a fan of walking on a leash but will need a little more practice, especially if I spot those pesky squirrels or other four-legged friends (in other words I can be excitable on a leash). With a training plan in place though, I bet I can overcome this (especially as I am very food-motivated)! See me walking nicely on a leash with a friend here.  House trained – My rescuers say I do very well with this! Crate trained - Not yet. Please Note: WCP Dog Rescue partners with Unleashed Dog Training (Hannah Swain, Balanced Dog Trainer) to offer adopters 50% off one training session (not including tax and applicable gas surcharges). Any subsequent sessions will be offered at standard rates. WCP also highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I was diagnosed with TVT when I was found, a type of cancer that has a very low recurrence rate once treated. I have made a 100% recovery now :) I am spayed and vaccinated. NOTE: dogs from Guadalajara are not microchipped. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $650.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates.  ##1823605##

Story
Introducing the Infectious Charmer, Oscar! Prepare to be swept off your feet by the irresistible charm and youthful exuberance of Oscar! This two-year-old sweetheart may still be young, but his boundless energy and puppy-like charm will keep you smiling from ear to ear. Let me tell you a bit about Oscar's positive traits: He's not just a pretty face – he's also a quick learner with a gentle demeanor that's sure to steal your heart. Oscar has impressed us with his attentiveness and has already mastered basic commands with ease. He's a joy to handle and interacts safely with people, showing no signs of collar sensitivity, food or toy aggression, or resource guarding. While Oscar loves his cozy crate, he's also proven himself to be well-behaved when given the freedom to roam in his foster home. With his playful spirit and eagerness to please, Oscar would thrive in an active family environment that can provide him with the time and patience needed to settle into his new home. Now, let's talk about the support Oscar needs: As he transitions from a shelter environment and a previous owner surrender, Oscar will require some time to decompress and adjust to his new surroundings. During playtime, he may sometimes exhibit a more dominant role with other dogs, so it's essential for his new owners to understand and respect his play style. Oscar is more than just a delightful addition to any family – he's a ray of sunshine waiting to brighten your days with love and joy. If you're ready to open your heart and home to this spirited pup, don't hesitate to reach out! Contact us today to learn more about how you can make Oscar a cherished member of your family.

Story
Hi there, I'm Sid! I'm here to tell you a little bit about myself in hopes of finding my perfect match through adoption or foster-to-adopt. Are you ready to embark on a whirlwind adventure with me? First things first, let me introduce myself. I'm not your ordinary husky – I'm a charismatic and quirky character bursting with personality and charm. With my playful antics and endearing quirks, I guarantee I'll keep you entertained and laughing with my dramatic husky antics. One of my favorite things in the world is making new friends, both human and furry. I'm a social butterfly who gets along famously with well-matched dogs, and I'm currently living harmoniously with Angela, another one of our adoptable pups. We make quite the dynamic duo, if I do say so myself! When it comes to outdoor adventures, count me in! I'm not just a hilarious companion, but also an ideal outdoor partner. I love joining in on any adventure and I'm particularly fond of the water – whether it's a pool, lake, or ocean, you can bet I'll be making a splash! Now, let's talk about the nitty-gritty stuff. Collar sensitivity and resource guarding? Non-issues for me! I'm more than happy to share my toys and space with both humans and furry friends alike. But here's where I could use some support. My boundless energy and spirited nature mean I thrive in an environment that can keep up with my need for both mental stimulation and physical exercise. While I'm a lover of all things big and boisterous, I'm not the best match for small dogs or animals due to my prey drive. That's why I'll need a home that can provide me with undivided attention and doesn't have any small pets. An experienced owner who can help me refine my manners, including leash training, curbing marking behaviors, and mastering basic commands like sit, stay, and come, would be just what I need to thrive. So, if you're ready to welcome a lovable husky like me into your heart and home, then look no further! Contact us today to learn more about how you can make me a cherished member of your family. Don't miss out on the chance to embark on this adventure with me – I promise it'll be one for the books!

Story
Hi there! My name is Bryce, and I have quite the story to tell.   Breed: Alaskan MalamuteAge: 4 yearsGender: Male    Weight: 73 lbHighlight(s): Good with other dogs, rarely barks, no escape tendency I was found wondering the streets and ended up in a city pound as a stray. Despite having a microchip, no one came to claim me, and I was at risk of being euthanized. Thankfully, I was saved and brought to a shelter, but unfortunately, I've been there for over a year without finding a family to call my own. Living in Korea's hot and humid summers hasn't been easy for me as a Malamute. I'm really hoping to find a home where I can be comfortable and happy. I'm not shy at all when it comes to meeting new people. In fact, I love it when strangers pet me and give me belly rubs. I'm a big fan of scratches and don't mind being brushed. Just be prepared for some shedding! I get along well with other dogs, regardless of their size. I've been living with 30-40 dogs at the shelter, so I'm used to being around many furry friends. However, I haven't had the chance to meet a cat yet, so I'm not sure how I would react. I have a moderate energy level and enjoy outdoor activities. I walk well on a leash and am confident in urban environments. Sudden noises and car rides don't scare me at all. In fact, I absolutely love car rides and enjoy looking out the window, feeling the wind on my face. I want to assure you that I haven't shown any signs of aggression. However, I do have a little possessive behavior when it comes to certain things. Sometimes, I won't let go of something I have in my mouth. But don't worry, the shelter is working on this with me, and it's recommended to continue "leave it" training after adoption. I don't have separation anxiety and rarely bark. You won't have to worry about me trying to escape either. I am crate-trained, but I haven't been housetrained yet since I haven't had the chance to live in a home. With a little patience and guidance, I'm sure I'll catch on quickly. I'm just a lovable Malamute looking for a family to call my own. If you're ready to give me the love and care I deserve, please consider adopting me. I promise to be a loyal and affectionate companion for life. Energy Level: Moderate - enjoys outdoor activities I get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknownKids: unknown Fears: Unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Leash skills: yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: No. Please be prepared to help me learn where to go in my new home. Health notes: I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1907452##
