Story
Petite! Loving! Silly! Makes friends easily! Willa is a close snuggling, squeaker-loving, super friendly three-legged husky girl. She came to us after a car accident, but now she's all healed up from her leg amputation and back in action. Now Willa is free to frolic and play! She loves being outdoors and seems to enjoy having a dog pal in her foster home. A well-fenced yard and active family with lots of time to spend with her would be nice, too! Willa doesn't seem to have lived with cats before and thinks they are really fun to chase when they move fast, so she isn't being left unsupervised with the resident cats in her foster home. This sweet girl has a luxurious, thick coat, and she doesn't mind going out in the rain! We took her to an adoption event indoors with live music and Willa was a perfect angel, happily meeting strangers all evening and trying to befriend all the other dogs who attended. Willa is quite skillful on three legs and can climb stairs and even hopped up onto the table for a better view out the window (major husky vibes)! Willa is understandably a little hesitant around busy roads with fast cars or loud noises after her car accident experience, but we're starting to see her relax and trust now that she is no longer in pain. Willa will need to remain fit and trim to make sure she stays as mobile as possible on three legs. We ask that all WCAL puppy adopters commit to attending a reward-based training class with their new puppy (we'll help you find a qualified, dog-friendly trainer near you). This is the best way we know how to help you bond with your new pup, give you access to current training techniques and ensure that your new dog becomes a well-rounded member of society. We believe in being proactive and know from experience that the best time to train a dog is NOW! It's important to us that all the dogs we rescue get the very best start with you. If you don't have time to attend training classes, please consider choosing an adult dog or waiting to adopt until your schedule is more flexible. Follow us on social media for daily updates! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Zephyr is an approximate 5 year old Husky/Lab(?) mix. She is super smart, playful, funny, and obedient. Zephyr was a transfer from SFSPCA where she wasn't getting much interest. She had come to them as a mom with pups and was in foster care until her pups were ready for adoption. At that time, Zephyr was shutdown and unsure. The SFSPCA team did a fabulous job of getting her accustomed to the leash and helping her learn to trust. Since her arrival at Azaya, she has blossomed into a silly girl with TONS of personality. She loves to play with other dogs, is a pleasure to walk on the leash, and will talk back to you (as Huskies are prone to do). She has participated in several rounds of our obedience program and is now used as our demo dog. This dog has made a huge turnaround and we don't think she's finished surprising us yet. Please inquire about how Zephyr can add some quick wit and never ending curiosity to your life All of our animals are up to date on their vaccinations, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and have had a physical exam. He's an anxious dog who's skittish around new people and in new places. We've found he's much more confident when in the presence of another dog. He's a playful, adolescent husky with a lot of energy. So his new family should anticipate basic adolescent dog antics. It takes him a while to warm up to new people. Once he knows you he enjoys snuggles and treats. Because of his desire to wander, we do not recommend that Max is allowed to be off leash in unfenced areas.  Adoption Center: (415) 506-6225 The Marin Humane Society 171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd., Novato, California 94949 Email: adoptions@marinhumanesociety.orgApril 21, 2024, 12:07 am
