Story
Meet Howdy! A friendly 1 year old Siberian Husky mix who would love to be someone’s hiking buddy! He is looking for an active home that can provide him with the mental and physical enrichment needed to help him put his best paw forward in life! Howdy could likely go home with a well-matched doggy friend but could also thrive being a solo pup in the home. This handsome gent is looking for an experienced home who can give him the life he deserves.

Story
We cannot say enough great things about Sully - smart, handsome, goofy, friendly! We could go on & on! Sully is also one of our longest residents. He arrived when he was just a puppy and has grown up in the shelter. Sully has participated in our dog day out program and has done super well when meeting new people & exploring Sonoma County. He is friendly with other dogs & is very playful. We are recommending he go into a home with children 12 years and older.

Story
Meet Roo, one of HSSC's current long-term residents. When people ask us why Roo hasn't been adopted yet, we really don't have a good answer. Is she too pretty, too fun, too smart, and too sweet? She's chock full of amazing qualities.Roo needs to be the only pet in the home. She has a proclivity for chasing cats. When it comes to other dogs, Roo is pretty unbothered; she can go on walks where other dogs will be nearby, and she'll just keep doing her own thing. She goes for weekly field trips with one of our volunteers who always comments on how lovely she does with her counterconditioning. She's learned that seeing other dogs means it's time for a treat, which is great! However, given how much Roo LOVES to play with toys, she isn't great at sharing them with other dogs. She does not mind sharing her toys with her human friends.Roo spent some time in a foster home and they reported the following:"Great walker, as you know, passes dogs without issue. Will chase cats!Is able to be in a closed door crate when needed (will yell about it, but when you return, is sitting calmly waiting and wagging)So playful, loves tug and will actually fetch a toy or a ball. Her hilarious traits include: standing on her back legs to look out the window, appears to be half human. Snuggling on the bed in the morning, love nips and nuzzles"Miss Roo is more than ready for her new home. Call our adoptions team at 707-542-0882 to learn more about her. Story
It’s never easy seeing a senior dog wait in the shelter, and Oso has been waiting far too long. Oso is a 9-year-old Husky with a big heart, a fluffy coat, and a wonderfully quirky personality. He was originally adopted from us in 2018 but returned due to housing challenges. After a brief second adoption, Oso sadly found himself back with us once again.Despite all the change he’s endured, Oso remains a gentle, endearing companion. He may do well with the right canine friend, but he’s looking for a home without cats or small animals. What Oso wants most is a calm, low-key life where he can relax and be loved for exactly who he is.Oso deserves a peaceful place to spend his golden years — could you be the one to give him that? Story
Hey guys my name is Wesley and there is a lot to unpack within my little body, although I won’t be little long. I am a beautiful boy with a lot of love and loyalty to my pack. I had a rough go. My best friend Tess and I had a wild childhood and ended up in animal control. Luckily and nice man called Wiley’s Wish and asked them to take a risk on us. Both of us were really feral and scared of people so Wiley’s knew they needed some special trainers to work with us. We got to stay together and went to an awesome training program. My foster dad does a lot of work with me and I used to be so scared but I am doin really well, especially with treats. I know I’m a working progress but I promise I am doin all the work so that one day I can find my perfect family.
