Story
Simba is overall an amazing dog. He’s very smart, but very much a free spirit. He’s has experience being around our Boston Terrier but has trouble with other dogs. Needless to say he should be in a home with either no other dogs. Or at most just one that he will be with everyday. We have had issues with him getting loose and running away. Therefore I believe he deserves more space and freedom than I can give him. He’s very gentle with children and people. He loves belly rubs and head scratches. He’s more than capable of being your best friend after trust is gained. A home with a fenced in yard with lots of room to run would be ideal. We are willing to travel within the New England area if drop off is needed. We will provide all vet paperwork. This dog deserves to be loved and have space to be the free spirit he is.

Story
Meet Loki!Loki would like to clear up a few rumors. Yes, he has argued with his leash by biting and tugging on it. Yes, he has strong opinions about where walks should go. And yes, he has enough energy to power a small town. This handsome husky mix came to the shelter when his adopters (from another rescue) realized that Loki was a too high-octane dog and was much more exuberant than they were prepared for. No hard feelings, though. Loki is simply looking for people who speak fluent `busy dog.`Loki is very smart, athletic, and always ready for the next activity. He loves puzzle toys, enrichment games, training challenges, and anything that gives his busy brain something to do. A run, a hike, a game of fetch, or a new adventure? Sign him up. When bored, he can get up to mischief, like his namesake.Loki is looking for an experienced home with active people who understand energetic ,smart working-type dogs. He would do best without young children, though older teens with dog experience may be a fit. He may also be able to live with another dog after a successful meet.If your idea of fun involves muddy shoes, tired legs, and a happy dog at the end of the day, Loki is ready to be your adventure partner. Please come to the shelter on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 12-4pm during our walk-in hours if you are interested in adopting Loki.

Story
Meet Stella! A spirited one-and-a-half-year-old Siberian Husky mix currently Trenton, NJ, whose essence is a vibrant blend of intelligence, loyalty, and quiet confidence wrapped in a lightly golden coat with beautiful white accents. Guided by months of dedicated training and thoughtful care, this medium-sized girl is growing into an impressive companion who thrives when surrounded by people who understand and respect her unique personality. Weighing about 55 pounds, Stella enjoys the simple joys of life: long walks, adventurous hikes, energetic games of tug-of-war, relaxing car rides, and settling into her favorite crate or quiet space after a fulfilling day. She is house-trained, crate-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She also knows an impressive list of commands, including sit, down, stay, heel, place, and yes-marker cues that help with recall and redirection. Stella’s caregivers invested more than six months in proactive training with Greenleaf Pet Resort, helping her reach an impressive neutrality rate around other dogs. As part of her rehoming program, Stella comes with fully paid lifetime professional training support through Greenleaf Pet Resort, giving her future family ongoing access to expert guidance and training resources for the rest of her life. She is remarkably quiet, having barked only twice in seven months, and prefers communicating through gentle body language and the occasional whimper when she feels overwhelmed. Like many intelligent dogs who thrive with structure, Stella needs an experienced adult-only family who understands positive reinforcement and advocacy. She is not compatible with cats or other dogs and requires a fenced yard. Stella has a history of biting when unfamiliar people attempt to touch her without her consent or before trust has been established, making it especially important that her family carefully manage introductions and advocate for her personal space. She can become uncomfortable when unfamiliar people attempt to pet her, so she needs patient adopters who will allow her to initiate contact, carefully read her body language, and respect her boundaries. When trust develops, Stella shows her affection by nudging a hand for attention and sharing quiet moments with the people she loves. Her digestive concerns are now being successfully managed through a carefully balanced veterinary diet, and she comes with complete medical and behavioral records, as well as pet insurance. Long-distance adoption is welcomed for the right match! Stella is ready for a new loving home with people who will champion her needs and celebrate her progress every step of the way. Story
Meet Oliver, affectionately called Ollie! A spirited six-and-a-half-year-old Siberian Husky/Shepherd mix currently in Washington, D.C., whose essence is a vibrant burst of loyalty wrapped in a striking black coat with white accents. Weighing about 65 pounds, Ollie is the kind of companion who wins hearts with his intelligence, independence, and unforgettable personality. He comes when called, walks beautifully on a leash, and knows an impressive collection of cues including sit, lay down, stay, spin, paw, go home, go to crate, and even roll over! Highly motivated by treats, especially peanut butter, he enjoys learning and thrives when given clear communication and positive reinforcement. Ollie is wonderfully adaptable to daily life. Whether the day calls for a long hike, a leisurely stroll, or a peaceful afternoon nap, he is happy to settle into the rhythm of his family. He loves splashing through rivers and streams, chasing sticks, exploring the outdoors, and showing off his curious nature. One of his most endearing qualities is how closely he tunes into the emotions of the people around him. When excitement fills the air, Ollie is ready to join the fun, yet he is equally content relaxing in his favorite spot and enjoying his own space. Like many thoughtful dogs, Ollie has specific needs that help him feel comfortable and secure. He requires a calm, structured environment and benefits from caregivers who can recognize his body language and respect his boundaries. He can become overstimulated around large groups, is protective of food and high-value items, and has a history of biting in certain situations. Because of this, he needs an experienced pet parent who understands behavior support, is comfortable managing resource guarding, and can continue setting him up for success. He also receives daily medication to help manage anxiety. Ollie would thrive in a loving home without children and as the only dog, preferably with plenty of space to roam and explore. In return, he offers loyalty, adventure, intelligence, and companionship on his own unique terms. Could you be the patient, understanding person who helps write Ollie’s next great adventure? Story
These two brothers unlocked an early Rescue memory of a dog I fell smitten with the first time down volunteering in Mississippi! Her name was Frankie. She came north soon after we met her, and she now is living a rescue dog’s dream with her forever family! The goal is and will be to do the same for these two brothers. Their eyes, ginger hair, and up ears are ridiculous in the cutest sense! SCAR and BROTHER are 7 months old, have playful puppy energy, and love treats and seem smart and eager to please! Scar has a scar on his head, and a slightly bent ear. In the video we saw of them (see comments) they took treats gently. They are dog friendly and are about 35 lbs! We are hoping to secure forever families or fosters the end of the month! A share, like, comment, will help spread the word of these boys! Story
Scar is a beautiful boy that was found wandering as a stray with his brother, "Brother". They are being fostered together, and we are told that they are sweet, still have some puppy energy, and are two friendly boys. They love treats and both seem like they'll be very food motivated, which could be a positive tool to use in training. We are told that both are good with other dogs, but bark at cats. Scar is looking for a forever home that will give him the grace, time, and patience needed to learn what life in a home is like. In return, you'll receive a lifetime of love and loyalty. Scar is about 37 lbs and 7 months old. He gets the name Scar from a Scar found on front of his head .
