Story
Meet Peregrine aka Pear or Pear Bear! This adorable one-eyed fluff ball is everything you’d expect from a husky puppy: curious, energetic, playful, and incredibly friendly. She would thrive in a home with another doggy sibling to play with and learn from! Pear is already off to a great start and having only one eye doesn’t slow her down at all! She sleeps soundly through the night in her crate and is making good progress with potty training. Like any smart, high-energy working breed pup, she’ll do best with a family who can provide her with structure, mental enrichment, and plenty of exercise. Puppy training classes would be a fantastic way to help her continue to grow into her best self. This sweet girl is looking for a fun, active home that’s ready for adventure. Whether it’s hikes, playtime, or just exploring the neighborhood. If you’re ready for a loyal, lively companion who will keep you smiling, Pear might just be your perfect match! Required: * Securely fenced yard Preferred: * Experience with huskies or other high-energy working breeds Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Adoption fee: $450 + tax

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Volunteer fave in the house! Bram arrived at the shelter on 9/29/2024, after he went unclaimed at the city pound. He's a happy and energetic husky mix with icy blue eyes. We do think he's mixed with some type of herding breed. He's friendly and ready for action at all times. He's also very loving. His size is in the medium range and he's around 3 years old. He has been vet checked, neutered, and chipped. His fee is $150. We're hoping to find Bram a home that has some experience with husky types. They are notorious clowns who love to run! Bram does require basic obedience training and a lot of regular exercise to keep him settled. He loves to play and be with people. He has a tendency to be strong willed so he needs an experienced owner who is ready and willing to work with this. Cats are most likely a no for him. An adult only home would be best and a fenced yard would be perfection. He could do well with a well mannered dog of similar size. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application as been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 6, 2026, 1:13 pm

Story
Meet Balto! Balto's story could have ended very differently. Instead, it became a story of resilience, hope, and a dog who never stopped believing in people. Balto recently celebrated his second birthday and is proof that your past does not define your future. Despite spending part of his life surviving on the streets of Mexico and later finding himself in a shelter facing an uncertain fate, Balto has remained one of the sweetest, most loving dogs you could ever hope to meet. His foster says it best: "Some might think that a pup who lived on his own for so long might be aggressive or unable to bond with people. Not our boy Balto! Balto has defied the odds. He is the sweetest boy who loves dogs, cats, and people. He is not food aggressive and will gently take treats. He is playful with people and other dogs. Sometimes we have to tell him we are tired of playing. He loves to snuggle and is such a ham! He enjoys being brushed and soaking up the sun. When he is tired at night, he puts himself to bed. He is one amazing pup. The easiest foster in my time of hosting pups." Balto's Story Balto spent part of his life living on the streets of Mexico, fending for himself and surviving however he could. Eventually, he made his way to a shelter. Unfortunately, despite his wonderful personality, he was unable to find a home and found himself at high risk of euthanasia. Thankfully, Balto was given a second chance and made the journey to Wisconsin, where he has quickly become a favorite among everyone who meets him. Despite everything he has been through, Balto has never lost his ability to trust, love, and enjoy life. Balto's Favorite Activities * Playing with other dogs * Playing with toys * Sniffing and exploring * Going for walks * Car rides * Chewing on bones * Cuddling with his people * Watching TV together * Napping * Meeting new people * Zooming around the yard * Sunbathing * Being brushed * Relaxing at home Balto is the perfect combination of playful and relaxed. He loves a good play session, but he's equally happy curling up beside you for a quiet evening at home. What Balto Is Working On Balto has adapted beautifully to life in a home and has very few challenges. His foster family is helping him continue to improve: * Leash manners * Counter surfing habits * Basic household routines He is house-trained, crate-trained, and eager to please. Balto is food motivated, gentle, and easy to work with, making him a wonderful companion for families of all experience levels. Balto's Ideal Home Balto is incredibly adaptable and would thrive in many different types of homes, including: * First-time dog owners * Families with children * Homes with other dogs * Homes with cats * Active families * More relaxed households looking for a companion Balto absolutely loves other dogs and enjoys having canine friends to play with. He also does well with cats and has shown that he can peacefully coexist with them. He adores children and is especially gentle with younger kids, making him a wonderful family dog. Why You'll Love Balto Balto is one of those rare dogs who seems to love everyone and everything. He is affectionate without being demanding. Playful without being overwhelming. Gentle without being timid. Whether he's making you laugh with his goofy personality, soaking up the sunshine, cuddling on the couch, or putting himself to bed at night like a perfect gentleman, Balto has a way of making every day a little brighter. His journey has been remarkable, but his favorite chapter is still waiting to be written. Could that chapter be with you? Apply to adopt at tailsofhopewi.org Fostered in Black River Falls, WI.
