Story
Some people want a standard-issue, cookie-cutter dog: one who looks like thousands of others. One who fits into neat categories. I'm for those other guys. The ones who want a one-of-a-kind dog. My name is Koda and you're not going to find my face on mass-produced socks that say "proud owner of a [insert breed here]". You're not going to chat up a stranger and be able to convey my whole personality in one sentence. I'm a complex guy. I'm eleven years old, 59 lb, and generally pretty low-key. I don't need a whole lot of exercise, but I do love going for walks. I love attention and get a little bounce in my step when someone I know and like comes to hang out with me. I'm a bit "cat-like." I'm independent AND affectionate. I can spend ages just chilling on my own, hanging out quietly in the sunshine, taking naps, and watching the world go by. I'm deaf, or at least quite hard-of-hearing, so I'm not bothered by noise. Before I came to the shelter, I had gone without regular healthcare for a long time, so I was sensitive and in pain. I'm a lot better now and most of my health problems have resolved. The only special care I need is that, for my meals, I eat canned food instead of dry. I'm still a bit touchy when it comes to body handling, though, so I'd need an adopter who is willing to treat me with respect and occasionally take "no" for an answer. For that reason, I'm probably not the best match for a home with young kids. I've earned the right to have my curmudgeonly moments, I think. I just want to live an easy, quiet life with nobody pestering me, except when I want it. I'd like to be a solo pet- no other dogs or cats, please. Just my favorite human(s) and me. Because I'm 11 years old, I'm eligible for the Seniors-4-Seniors program. That means I'm available for adoption by anyone of any age, but if someone over 65 adopts me, the adoption fee is just one dollar and routine vet care and food for the rest of my life is covered at no cost to the adopter. Meet Trudy! 🐾💗 Trudy is a 6-month-old Terrier mix weighing about 25 pounds, and this sweet girl is basically a soft, squishy bundle of puppy love! 🥰 She is SO soft, loves looking into your eyes, and will happily give you kisses. She loves attention and wants to be wherever her people are. ❤️ Trudy LOVES to play, especially with the ball run! She has figured out how to get the ball, but we're still working on the whole “bring it back so I can throw it again” concept. 😂 It’s absolutely adorable. She is incredibly sweet with her foster’s 4-, 8-, and 10-year-old kids. She’s still very much a puppy, though, so if someone is lounging on the couch, she may decide their head looks like the perfect landing spot. 😂 Once the kids start petting her, she settles right down and becomes an affectionate little lovebug. Trudy is playful, energetic, and full of puppy fun. She would happily run and play all day—or soak up every bit of attention you’re willing to give her! She is completely submissive with her foster’s 9-month-old puppy and enjoys having a canine friend. She also does great in the car and apparently thinks a kid’s lap is a pretty fantastic place to ride. 🥹 Trudy is looking for a family who will enjoy her playful puppy personality, give her plenty of love and attention, and help her continue learning and growing into the amazing dog she is meant to be. Sweet. Silly. Playful. Affectionate. And 100% adorable. 💕🐶 Could Trudy be your girl? 🏡❤️
