Story
Some people want a standard-issue, cookie-cutter dog: one who looks like thousands of others. One who fits into neat categories. I'm for those other guys. The ones who want a one-of-a-kind dog. My name is Koda and you're not going to find my face on mass-produced socks that say "proud owner of a [insert breed here]". You're not going to chat up a stranger and be able to convey my whole personality in one sentence. I'm a complex guy. I'm eleven years old, 59 lb, and generally pretty low-key. I don't need a whole lot of exercise, but I do love going for walks. I love attention and get a little bounce in my step when someone I know and like comes to hang out with me. I'm a bit "cat-like." I'm independent AND affectionate. I can spend ages just chilling on my own, hanging out quietly in the sunshine, taking naps, and watching the world go by. I'm deaf, or at least quite hard-of-hearing, so I'm not bothered by noise. Before I came to the shelter, I had gone without regular healthcare for a long time, so I was sensitive and in pain. I'm a lot better now and most of my health problems have resolved. The only special care I need is that, for my meals, I eat canned food instead of dry. I'm still a bit touchy when it comes to body handling, though, so I'd need an adopter who is willing to treat me with respect and occasionally take "no" for an answer. For that reason, I'm probably not the best match for a home with young kids. I've earned the right to have my curmudgeonly moments, I think. I just want to live an easy, quiet life with nobody pestering me, except when I want it. I'd like to be a solo pet- no other dogs or cats, please. Just my favorite human(s) and me. Because I'm 11 years old, I'm eligible for the Seniors-4-Seniors program. That means I'm available for adoption by anyone of any age, but if someone over 65 adopts me, the adoption fee is just one dollar and routine vet care and food for the rest of my life is covered at no cost to the adopter. So if you've got room in your life for a one-of-a-kind occasionally-grumpy old man, come and check me out! If interested please fill out a preliminary at odas.org/canine and someone will contact you to schedule your visit.

Story
**Courtesy Post** Ramona is about 8-10 years old Weighs 37lbs Husky mix  Fully vetted and hw-   Ramona was severely abused in her past and was emaciated when she came to me. She flinches when you move too fast and is always ready to be hit. She's gotten much better and doesn't jump every time she's touched anymore but we're still working on making her feel more comfortable.    She's the sweetest gal without an aggressive bone in her body. She tries to engage in play but she has 2 severely luxated patella's so she isn't incredibly stable. She takes gabapentin for her knees and that seems to make her feel a whole lot better! She likes other dogs but doesn't like them being rowdy in her face and who could blame her! The most she'll do is bark and walk away. She's learning to enjoy walks bones toys and a comfy place to sleep!    She struggled with digestive issues but after a round of steroids she seems to be doing 100% better! She takes probiotics and one serving of Metamucil per day plus she gets a tablespoons of pumpkin with both meals.    This girl is unbelievably sweet and deserves a calm home where she can continue her progress of being a dog.   To adopt Ramona please send an email to Nickiroy37@gmail.comVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 19, 2025, 3:20 pm

WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org ✨🐾 Meet Amira — Still Waiting for Her Once-in-a-Lifetime Person 🐾✨ Female • Husky • ~2 Years • ~45 lbs Amira has been patient. - Patient while raising her babies. - Patient while watching other dogs find their homes. - Patient while waiting for her turn — her person, her family, her moment to finally be someone’s everything. Now it’s her time, her time to just breathe, her time to shine, her time to be the center of your universe. At around 2 years old and 45 pounds, Amira is the perfect mix of sweetness and spirit. She carries herself with quiet confidence, soft eyes, and that unmistakable Husky sparkle that says, “Life is an adventure… and I’d really like to share it with you.” She’s affectionate, friendly, and wonderfully balanced. She enjoys playtime and outdoor activity, but she also appreciates calm connection — the kind where she can simply sit beside you and feel safe, chosen, and home. Amira is great with kids and other dogs, bringing a steady, reassuring presence wherever she goes. Cats are still unknown, but with thoughtful introductions, she may do just fine. Now, because she is a Husky, let’s sprinkle in just a dash of reality: this girl is athletic and clever. Fences are more like “suggestions” in her world. She’ll thrive in a home committed to leash walks, secure outings, and including her in adventures rather than leaving her to entertain herself. She doesn’t want to run away — she wants to run with you. And truly, that’s what she wants most — to be with her person. After spending her early adulthood caring for others, she’s ready to be cared for. Ready for long walks, silly moments, cozy evenings, and the simple joy of belonging. She deserves a home where she’s not just a dog in the yard — but a cherished companion in the heart of the family. Amira isn’t loud about her wishes. She doesn’t demand attention. She just waits, hopeful, for someone to see her and say, “That’s my girl.” If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, adventure-ready best friend who will meet you at every sunrise and settle beside you at every sunset, Amira is ready. She’s been patient long enough. 👉 Apply today at haydudeequine.org and give this sweet girl the forever she’s been quietly dreaming of. 💙🐾
