Story
Never aggressive, but sassy & dominant. Athletic & great health, few signs of age. Epilepsy well controlled w/phenobarb. Liver enzymes are elevated & needs supplements. Soft-mouth trained, but uses teeth to express herself. NEVER hurt or bitten anyone. Likes other dogs, but needs to be only dog in house to be happy. Loves cats & lived w/them for years. Loves long walks & jogging. Is very soft, but hates grooming. Takes care of her own nails, pulling them off when need be. Loves antlers & horns & loves to chew to relax, but has totally grown out of chewing on furniture, etc. HATES to be alone, prefers house with humans & cats to keep company. Severe separation anxiety. Needs to sleep on the bed with her papa & needs close intimacy to feel loved. Can't be excluded from house/room where people are, needs company & love all the time. Has travelled cross country with me in my car & loves to camp. Tricks: shake, high five, sit, & lay down, but never mastered drop it or come.

Rhea is a sweet, gentle mixed breed that is approximately 4.5 years old. Recently transitioning into our care, Rhea has been taking the time to adjust and feel comfortable. While her personality will continue to bloom through her time here, we have already observed that she loves to go for long walks while getting more comfortable with our staff and volunteers. After her walks, she enjoys snuggling up with her favorite blankets and toys. True to her nature, Rhea prefers to be the only pet in your home. Rhea has no problem with being the center of attention! *Fosters should be within 30 minutes of the shelter since he will need to return for appointments* Anchovy is our beautiful and majestic fluff-ball who is as goofy as can be! When he prances around the yard, you'll see his long fur flowing in the wind. Anchovy can be a bit shy upon first meeting, but once he is comfortable he will show you what a goober he is. Anchovy has shown great dog skills here at the shelter, so he may benefit from living with another dog. Since Anchovy can startle easily, we would recommend he go home with adults and maybe older teens. Anchovy is heartworm positive and is going through treatment here at the ARL. We would be happy to discuss fostering with the option to adopt once his treatment is complete.
