Story

She is a super sweet but timid girl. The best way to describe her is to say that she’s still “learning how to be a dog” with time and patience she has grown to learn how to play, interact with others, and enjoy being outdoors. She still has a long way to go and it takes her some time to warm up to others, but after some time and patience she will love to snuggle on the couch and play and run around. She gets along well and can play with dogs of all temperaments but she definitely prefers to be around dogs who are a bit more calm and respectful. She does well with cats and usually pays them no mind aside from the occasional sniff. Throughout our time with her we have worked on exposing her to new things and people and really getting her out of her shell. It has been such a blessing and privilege to watch her flourish into a sweet, gentle, and playful girl. It is truly beautiful to watch her work so hard to overcome her fears and anxieties.

Balta is a calm, low-energy, very sweet and quiet dog. She is is great with kids and cats. She is not good at sharing toys with other dogs, so not ideal for living with another dog. She can be timid of people at first meet, but warms up quickly once she smells them. Everyone that has met her loves her and exclaims how well behaved, sweet and beautiful she is. She is double coated and needs to be brushed regularly. She is 6 years old and 65 pounds.

Asher is a big boy in every sense of the word - he used to weigh over 100 pounds, but he's currently working on his fitness journey with proper diet, regular walks, and plenty of encouragement from his biggest fans. Down over 30 lbs. he's still a big guy, but he's doing amazing and we know his joints feel so much better with proper diet and exercise! Asher genuinely enjoys going for walks, exploring, and playing, though his age and extra weight mean he tires out more quickly than he used to. As he continues to slim down, his stamina is improving, and he's showing everyone that you're never too old to feel better and have fun. This sweet senior absolutely adores people. He's a certified wiggle worm who leans his whole body into you for pets and soaks up affection like a sponge. He loves love, but if we're being honest, he may love snacks even more. Thankfully, his enthusiasm for treats makes him an eager participant in his healthy lifestyle makeover. Asher also comes with one classic husky feature: he's quite the conversationalist. Whether he's greeting you, asking for another cookie, or simply sharing his thoughts about the day, he'll happily "talk" back and forth with you in true husky fashion. Asher is a total sweetheart with a heart as big as his fluffy frame, and he's ready to find a family who will cherish him through his golden years, cheer him on in his wellness journey, and appreciate every goofy, lovable moment along the way.

Meet Tender! This handsome 6-year-old Husky mix can be a bit of a scaredy-cat when he first meets new people, but don’t let his timid side fool you. Once Tender realizes you’re a friend, he warms up surprisingly quickly and reveals what a sweet, loving boy he really is. Tender has been making wonderful progress since arriving at HES, and one of the biggest things helping him come out of his shell is his doggie friends! He loves heading to playgroup and has become more social, playful, and confident around other dogs. Watching him open up more and more has been such a joy, and we have a feeling this boy is only getting started. Tender may need a little patience and encouragement as he settles into a new home, but we know that once he feels safe and comfortable, his sweet personality will shine. Give this “chicken tender” a little time to trust you, and you’ll have a loving companion who is ready to blossom right by your side.

Dixie is about six years old and came to us as a stray, so we don’t know much about her past. What we do know is that she is sweet as sugar and just wants love and attention from her person.Don’t let her age fool you—Dixie is still playful and enjoys having fun with other dogs. Her play style is gentle, and she gets along well with her canine friends.Dixie is also housebroken. She does have a little escape-artist streak, and we believe she goes UNDER fences rather than over them, so she will need a secure yard and supervision while outside.She may be around six, but Dixie still has plenty of love, playfulness and life left to share with someone. She is ready for a person who will keep her safe and give this sweet girl the attention she deserves.
