Story
I am looking for a compassionate and loving home for my senior Siberian Husky. This sweet boy has been a loyal companion and deserves a peaceful and loving environment to enjoy his golden years. He is a temperate boy who is gentle, calm and affectionate. House trained and well mannered. Took Mako in approximately one year ago to help his owner out while they looked for a new home. Was supposed to be for a few weeks but things didnt work out and owner cannot take him back. He's a good dog I just can no longer care for him and wasn't prepared to be his forever home. Mako gets along with my cats (I have 3) chasing them occasionally for fun. Only issue I have is he occasionally pulls on his leash when being walked which should not be a problem with the right collar. He turned 9 on June 19th of 2025

When he first arrived, I thought he was much older and that he would be a hospice case. He was stiff and frozen in fear and skinny. He would barely move. I put him in a kennel with younger dogs and he soon found his youthful spirit again and is like a different dog now. I don't know his age for sure but he has lots of life and happiness left in him and I think he is younger than 8. He weighs about 60 lbs now. He learned how to climb out of the 6 ft chain link kennel but he doesn't stray far from it except to follow me on walks. He goes down the pond to take a dip but mostly just hangs out by the kennel. So while he has the skills of a husky to escape, he doesn't have the urge of a husky to run off and go explore. I don't even put him up when I leave because he doesn't go anywhere. He is great with other dogs but sometimes doesn't know how big he is so he wouldn't be good around scared little dogs. Not because he would hurt them, but because they might get scared of him. He is fine with my chihuahuas but they are very bossy and not scared of anything. For that reason, I also don't think he should be around cats. To be clear, he is not aggressive at all, he just tries to play with everything and with his size that just wouldn't work with a dog or cats that's scared of him. He is very food motivated and walks well on the leash as well. He is an awesome boy and I am glad he didn't die at the kill shelter. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) - Vermont (Brattleboro) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative). Adoption fee: $550 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95

Story
Meet Daisy! Daisy is a sweet senior gal with plenty of personality and a voice to match! She loves to talk and will happily share her thoughts through her signature howls. As an older gal, she enjoys a slower pace of life and would do best in a calm home where she can relax and be comfortable. Daisy is friendly and likes gentle attention, however she would prefer to be the only dog or live with other mellow companions. She`s past her high energy puppy stage and is ready to spend her days lounging, exploring, and soaking up affection! If you`re looking for a loyal companion Daisy could be the perfect match! Come into the Adoption Center to get to know Daisy! Recommendations: Would prefer to be the only dog or with calmer/slower dogs. Slow dog intros.Weight: ~ 71.8 lbsMedical: Daisy has corneal dystrophy, a condition that gives the eyes a cloudy or opaque apperance, which is not causing discomfort at this time but should monitored. Additionally a dental health care plan should be developed for Daisy to help keep her teeth clean. Daisy also has had some hair thinning which appears mild and cosmetic but should also be monitored. Talk to your adoption counselor for further information about Daisy`s medical history. Adoption Fee: $275 + tax

Story
We`re pretty sure JUICE has never had a single serious thought in his entire life... and we respect that!At just 1.5-years-old, this Siberian Husky/mix is the total package - drop-dead gorgeous AND ridiculously fun. With his bright white coat and those piercing ice-blue eyes, Juice looks like he walked straight out of a snowstorm… but don’t let the model looks fool you - this boy is all about having a good time!Juice is the definition of goofy, lovable chaos (in the best way)! He’s got zoomies down to a science and fully believes every moment is an opportunity for fun. Whether you’re outside, inside, or just existing… Juice is like, “Cool, what are we doing and how can I be part of it?” He’s not a velcro dog, but he is incredibly curious and wants to be involved in whatever’s going on. Think: your enthusiastic sidekick who occasionally turns life into a comedy show.Juice would thrive in a home that can embrace his playful energy, keep him mentally and physically engaged, and appreciate his silly, larger-than-life personality. Juice may do well in a home with other animals as long as proper, slow introductions are performed! He is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and current on flea/tick & heartworm preventatives. If you’re looking for a dog who will make you laugh daily, keep you on your toes, and look stunning while doing it… Juice is ready to bring the party (and the zoomies) home with you! Please fill out an adoption application on our website - for any additional information or questions, please contact the shelter at wausharacoanimalshelter@gmail.com or (920) 279-9795.
