Story
Serenity, also known as CiciHuskyFemale5 years oldGood with dogs and very shy of peopleCici was a surrender from an Amish farmer that the state closed down due to neglect and bad conditions. She was used for breed purposes only. We believe she had at least 8 litters. Cici needs a home with another playful pup, and a fenced-in yard is a must.Cici has a heart condition, and because of that, she can not be spayed. There is a surgery to correct it, but their is a high chance she may not make it through the procedure. We have decided to let her live out her days, and we want her to have the very best. Cici is very sweet but is shy of people petting her. This girl has not 1 mean bone in her body. She is a dog that loves to lay in front of a door and soak up the warm sun. She is currently being fostered with lots of other dogs and small kids.apply at wbdr.org

Story
Hi! I'm Atlas, an adorable Alaskan Husky (or so I've been told). I have the waggiest of waggy tails and love snacks. I've been learning to walk on a leash while at DCHS, and the staff keeps telling me how well I'm doing. I'm looking for someone to help me continue working on my newfound skills. Walks are so much fun! I'm quite playful and have been known to chase other animals so I should go to a home without cats, critters or small dogs. However, I think I would like to have another playful dog about my own size to play with. I am a little fearful in new situations so I would probably be happiest in a home without small children. Once I'm comfortable though, I love to play bow and run zoomies! Medical History: I appear to be quite healthy but it is always a good idea for you to set up an appointment with a veterinarian when I come to live with you, so I can meet them (plus, I hear vet offices have great treats!). I hope we get to meet soon.Adoption Fee: $400 + tax

Story
Hi there, I'm Rocket - a dashing black and white Husky with a pair of mesmerizing blue eyes that'll capture your heart. Life has been a bit of a journey for me, but I'm ready for the next chapter with a new family who appreciates my vibrant personality. When it comes to people, I'm a social butterfly. My tail wags a lot, expressing my sheer joy when I meet someone new. I might even jump up, eager to get close and shower you with affection. I've been working hard to learn my leash manners, too. I'm not just a people person; I'm also a furry friend enthusiast. I've been loose, wiggly, and playful with other big dogs. What am I looking for in a new home? Well, a place where I can be the center of attention, of course! Due to my high prey drive, it's best if there are no cats, critters, birds, or small dogs around. I haven't had any experience with small humans yet. In a nutshell, I'm a friendly, affectionate dog with a bit of a playful streak. I may have some fearful behaviors as I learn so many new things, but with the right family, I'm sure to become an even more confident and loving companion. Ready to make me a part of your life's adventure?Medical History: I appear to be a healthy adult, but it's always a good idea to set up an appointment with my new vet soon, so that we can meet and make plans to keep me happy and healthy!Weight (approx): 54 lbsAdoption Fee: $375 + taxIf you'd like to meet me, click the "Learn About the Adoption Process" button below to plan a visit to the shelter!

*Reduced adoption fee! Participating in our Bissell Empty the Shelter adoption event Elsa really is the queen of stealing hearts! Her claim to fame is "melting" as soon as you say hi, rolling on her back and just laying there as long as you're willing to scratch her belly. Elsa is a beautiful dog, and a really wonderful temperament. We're hopeful she'll find a home with a friend to keep her entertained, and a family ready to scratch her belly all day long! All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. Story
Sho is a fun-loving, goofy husky with a lot of personality! He loves taking long naps in his crate almost as much as he enjoys chasing balls in the yard or chewing on a tasty bone. At the dog park, he runs around greeting all the other dogs before making a second loop to introduce himself to all the other owners. I've lived with Sho since August 2022, and he's been an amazing presence in my life, pushing me to explore my neighborhood and local parks on long walks and runs. He's well trained - he waits for his food, knows to sit, stay, come, lie down, and shake, and he sleeps in his crate every night without complaint. Unfortunately, I'm moving for a new job and my new lodgings and high-travel role don't accommodate dog ownership, so I'm looking for a caring new companion for Sho.
