Story
Our handsome boy, Action, has real star power! This debonair fellow would charm any adopter. He joined us in late 2020 during the height of the COVID Lockdown. His family left him at NYCACC at a time of increased euthanasias. Apparently, they no longer had time for him.  Action seemed to fare pretty well in the shelter setting, but he did display some understandable fearful behavior as he adjusted to the shelter process. In a short time, Action caught the shelter kennel cough and was relegated to the euthanasia list. We are happy that our shelter contacts rerouted him to our rescue. Action has made great progress here and has been a popular playmate in our small dog play yard. He appears to be a Jack Russell Terrier with perhaps a smidge of Rat Terrier. He is a small, muscular dog who weighs 20 pounds. Five years old, he is an adult and well past the puppy mayhem stage. We think that Action would most enjoy a quiet lifestyle with an adult single or couple, who love lap dog companionship. He tends to steer clear of chaos, and would not be a good fit for a busy family bursting with kids. He is an active dog, and loves to play, but he would thrive with a few brisk leash walks each day. Action could easily join a multi-dog home with one or two other laid back dogs and with proper introduction and supervision.  Action has good house manners, and is house trained, crate and trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home.  Action is in excellent health, and is at a lean body weight. He is neutered, and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. He is dewormed, and microchipped, If you are interested in Action, please write Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.

Story
Lil Kangaroo has a name that suites him to a T!  This little guy is tenacious in facing some hard things in life and we find him to be spunky and courageous  Adding to this courage, he is also a confident, intelligent boy that has endured the hard times when his human family could struggle no longer and keep him. He was reluctantly surrendered to our rescue.  What we have found is a wonderful dog and and we have delighted in see what a truly beloved boy he is.  This dog would fit in anywhere, anytime, anyway.  Lil Kangaroo is a 2 year old, 27 pound Jack Russell mix boy that is living in a foster home with two big foster fur brothers that don’t have anything ahead of Lil Klinger.   He can and does run with the best of them. He’s housetrained, loves car rides, happily accompanies his foster dad on his long walks and the active adventures his human dad loves to go on.  This boy, Kangaroo loves to explore and live life to the fullest with lots of new experiences. He embraces all the new things and enjoys playing with his toys and is ALWAYS ready for playtime.  If you are looking for a couch potatoe then Klinger would qualify only on short term moments.  He is a great and active breed that makes a wonderful family dog that you will spend time with and actively seek the exercise time that he needs.   He would be a wonderful dog for a  young family, young couple or a  young single person that is a runner, an explorer and a dog owner that might even want to do some agility activities together.  Of course Kangaroo is neutered , UTD on all vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm prevention with a clear fecal and wormings done. We admit, we are partial when it comes to Lil Kangaroo. He is one of the cuter and definitely the nicest small dog you could find or consider for your life partner. Don’t let this one get away!  If you are interested please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and let’s start this ball rolling for his new forever committed home and family. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 30, 2024, 5:09 pm

Story
Dottie suffered with severe pneumonia when coming into rescue, she spent nearly a week in an oxygen kennel at the emergency vet. When she turned a corner and started feeling better she showed us just how spunky she is! A young girl, 1-2 years old, and full of energy! She is very interested in what is going on in the world around her, lives to explore and is a great walking or hiking buddy, even with her adorable stubby legs. She's good with other dogs, but we don't know about cats. Dottie is still a whole lot of puppy and is working on some puppy manners when she gets excited, like mouthy playing and jumping up, but our training partner has been working with her. She's crate trained, house trained once she adjusts to her new schedule and ready for her happily ever after! Dottie is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines. Dottie is fostered in GA and will be attending our Adoption Event. Save time, fill out an Application to be preapproved to adopt at our event. Preapproved adopters may schedule appointments to meet dogs on Friday, May 17th. Our pets are in CT, GA and PA foster homes. Dogs in CT are ready to meet you! Dogs in PA may be able to come to CT prior to the event to meet adopters (depends on availability of foster homes). Dogs in GA will arrive right before the event so you must come to the event to meet them. Fill out an online application to start the adoption process. Adoption Event May 17-19th Durham Fairgrounds 24 Townhouse Rd Durham, CT Open Appointments Only: Friday, May 17, 2-6pm Open: Saturday, May 18, 9-4 pm Open: Sunday, May 19, 9-1 pm

Story
Harlow is a sweet, energetic, little girl.  She is looking for a home that can take her on walks or play with her daily.  She loves children of all ages, and is great with cats and dogs.  while she does have a lot of energy, she loves to snuggle.  She still takes time to warm up to new people, especially men.  But once she knows she is safe with you, she will be your best friend!  She is fully vetted and beyond ready for a forever home. ##2040781##

Adoption Donation   $ 299 Located:  RI  (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details ) Age: approx.  11 years old  Weight:  21  lbs BB Jones loves people, and she can be a bit bossy with other dogs, so a home where she is the queen would be best!  If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  judy@atouchofhealthri.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt. If you feel comfortable that the animal is a good fit for your home, at this point, you would submit a sum of $200 as a partial payment of the adoption fee as we process your application. From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit. If you are not approved to adopt, any payment sent to us would be promptly returned in full. At this point, we will remove the animal from our adoption sites and hold the animal for you while we check your references. If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters.
