Story
Mercedes is an active and athletic girl, she loves to explore and to stay busy. Mercedes is a medium sized girl, weighing just under 30 lbs. If you are looking for a buddy to take with you on adventures, she is your girl. She is learning leash manners, she is very treat motivated which helps in her reward training. Mercedes will sit for her food and treats, she is gentle when taking food from your hand. She should fit into most any family, we have not had the opportunity to introduce her to children, but she has a great temperament and should do fine. She likes to be where the action is at, her ideal home would have a fenced-in yard for her to explore and run and play. She has done well in multiple play groups, she is not dominant with other dogs, but does not like overly assertive ones. Mercedes has been picked on by bigger dogs, so she can be somewhat timid with them until she knows she can trust them. We do not think she would do well with small animals like cats, she does want to chase and is a little TOO interested in them. This girl is well rounded and is looking for someone to choose her! She is a great size, not too small and not too big :-) She is fully vetted and ready to go home.

Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Meet Charlie (female). She is a small breed, we aren't sure her mix but we're thinking possibly Jack Russell, Corgi, Australian Cattle Dog? We believe she is 3-4 years old. She is about 25 pounds.    She gets along well with other dogs. She's little bit nervous with new people at first. She has just started at the Arkansas Paws in Prison program where we hope she will gain some confidence.   In her foster home, she had a habit of slipping past her foster family and bolting out the door. She comes back but only when she's ready. She needs to work on her recall and her habit of bolting. We are hopeful the trainers at Paws in Prison can work with her on that!   Her foster mom says Charlie is “super loveable and loves to cuddle.” Now, that’s a ringing endorsement!    Unfortunately, Charlie is heartworm positive so she will be undergoing treatment for this. She is spayed and UTD on vaccinations.    Paws in prison is an amazing program where dogs are paired with inmates whom they are with 24/7 for 8 weeks. The inmates work with the dogs everyday on basic training, basic obedience, house training, leash training, etc. and even some tricks! They meet weekly with a certified dog trainer. This is a wonderful program and so beneficial for the dogs and the inmates! Charlie will graduate from Paws in Prison in August.    Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. Harrisburg, PA 2am Fridays Port Jervis, NY 5am Fridays Southington, CT 8am Fridays East Hartford, CT 11am Fridays  To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. Story
If you are in search of a loving, yet active little dog, then you have found just the right girl!  Bonnie is a young, one year old, 18 pound, Jack Russell who is spunky and happy and oh so cuddly.  She is the total package of smart, quick to learn, and easy to love.  Bonnie is a little shy when you first meet her, but we guarantee she will warm up fast. She loves to play with other dogs and pull out all the toys at the foster home. And what a cuddle bug she is who longs to be someone’s very special little girl.  She is still working on her house training, but is crate trained for short periods.  No, 8 hour long crate time will work for her.  As you can imagine with an active dog, a fenced in yard would work best.  Bonnie would also love to have her new family home most of the time because she loves her people.  We are recommending that she be with an active family as she loves to see new sights and is ready for travel adventures and car rides.  She is on the go and ready to love you!  Bonnie is your girl if you are checking all her boxes.  Please write to ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.  Please mention where you live:  city and state.  She is currently in Nashville, Tn with Critter Cavalry Rescue and we transport to the northeast on weekend.       PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 11, 2025, 10:23 pm

Story
Meet Bernard – The Adorable Jack Tzu with a Heart Full of Hope   Little Bernard has had a bumpy start in life, but you’d never know it from the joy in his eyes and the spring in his step. This 1-year-old Jack Tzu (a perfect blend of Shih Tzu and Jack Russell) is ready to trade in the uncertainty of his past for the stability and love of a forever home.   Weighing in at just 11 pounds, Bernard is the perfect pocket-sized companion. He’s happy, energetic, and full of personality — he’ll even chase his own tail just to make you laugh. But don’t let his playful side fool you — this little guy has wonderful house manners, settles calmly in his crate, and walks beautifully on a leash. His soft white wiry coat is accented with camel-colored spots that match his custom harness — he’s as fashionable as he is lovable!   Bernard is:   Good with other dogs Friendly with people (he just needs a moment to warm up in new places) Great with children 8 and up Nearly potty trained and learning fast Knows commands like sit, stay, shake, and lie down     He’s not much of a fetcher, but he makes up for it in charm, cuddles, and curiosity. Bernard adores running in a fenced yard, and we’re looking for a home where he’ll have access to one — either a private yard or frequent dog park visits.   After being passed from home to home through no fault of his own, Bernard is looking for one thing: consistency and love. He deserves someone who won’t give up on him — a person, couple, or family who sees him for the loyal, joyful, loving companion he truly is.   Can you be the one to give Bernard the forever he’s been waiting for?   To adopt Bernard, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com Include your city and state when reaching out. We can’t wait to help you meet this irresistible boy.   Bernard’s been passed around long enough — now it’s time for him to come home. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.July 14, 2025, 9:29 pm
